2009-2010 Student Essay Contest Topic: Proud to be Bilingual Orgullosa/o de Ser Bilingüe Entry Deadline: December 1st,2009 Eligibility: Participation is limited to students currently enrolled in one of the following: Bilingual Education Program, Dual Language Program or English as a Second Language Program.

Prizes for each level ! 1st Place - $100 2nd Place - $50 3rd Place - $25 Essay Requirements/ Format:  Essays must be written in English or translated into English. However, first place winners must be prepared to present their essay bilingually at the Awards Ceremony.  It is preferred the essay be typed, however, a hand written entry will be accepted.  Essays should be edited by the student with adult support. 

The essays should address the theme "Proud to be Bilingual," "Orgullosa/o de Ser Bilingue."

Length of Essay: Elementary grades 3-5 Middle school High School

500 words 750 words 1000 words

Application Process: Entries must include name, native language, home address, phone number, grade, name and address of school, name of teacher, principal and school district. Essays will not be returned. CABE reserves the right to publish the essays on the CABE website. Winners will be recognized at the 2010 CABE conference. Entries are to be sent to: Drs.
