Student Council Member Letter
Dear Potential Student Council Member, Student Council is an organization of students dedicated to reviving school spirit and making critical improvements in and around the school, including school functions and student life. This is your opportunity to make a commitment to your school and fellow students. Once you’re in, you’re committed to the meetings, the planning, the clean up, the construction, and participation in all Student Council events. You’re open minded to change and most importantly, prepared to take on the position of a role model and leader. Student Council is about personality, creativity, teamwork, and dedication. As a Student Council Member, you will need to be a leader and make time for meetings, updating your class of any planned events, trips, and fundraisers. Expectations of a Student Council member are to: •
Commit to attending at least one meeting a month during school
•
Commit to attending at least one meeting a month after school
•
Not miss more than one meeting
•
Participate in and promote activities
•
Maintain an overall C average
•
Receive no out of school suspensions
Meetings are likely to increase during special events such as Homecoming, Valentine’s Day, Awards Day, etc. After school meetings will be held to decorate, advertise, organize, and plan events. Discipline problems will be reviewed by the Advisory Board. Students receiving out of school suspensions will be immediately removed from the Student Council. We are doing things differently this year and requiring an application for anyone who wants to be on the Student Council. StuCo is open to everyone who wants to apply. Please fill out the attached application and follow all instructions. Each item has a point value. There is a total of 90 points possible and you must achieve a score of 75 to be eligible. The applications and teacher recommendation forms will be scored and final decisions will be made by the Advisory Board.
We are excited for a year of new ideas, new projects, new fundraisers, and new students.
