RULES for the ANNUAL OZ-STRAVAGANZA! PARADE Saturday, June 6, 2009, 2:00 p.m. 1. All entries must reflect the parade theme: “70 Years of Movie Magic: 100 Years Along The Road To Oz”. The emphasis of this year’s parade can be exact or broadbased, depending on theme interpretation. The only exceptions to this rule are police vehicles, color guards, uniformed marching military units, and emergency vehicles. THE PARADE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY PARADE ENTRY WHICH DOES NOT REFLECT AN OZ THEME. Applications must describe IN DETAIL how the parade theme will be projected. As you plan your entry, please keep in mind that the festival is directed toward families and reflects family values. THE PARADE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY PARADE APPLICATION WHICH HAS NOT BEEN FILLED OUT IN DETAIL. Marching bands must be in their band uniforms or in costumes that reflect the festival theme. We ask each unit to play live or taped music throughout the parade. 2. All applications must be received on or before May 25, 2009. Notice will be sent to confirm approval as soon as possible in the form of an e-mail or telephone call; letters with placement information will be sent the week prior to the parade.

3. Because of traffic congestion anticipated in downtown Chittenango, Genesee Street, which is the parade route, will be closed at 1:00 p.m. Please arrive early in the Village. Parade lineup starts at Falls Blvd. and Genesee St. PARADE UNITS ARRIVING LATE MAY BE EXCLUDED FROM PARTICIPATION DUE TO ROADS BEING CLOSED. EXACT LINEUP INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE INCLUDED WITH PLACEMENT INFORMATION. 4. Only vehicles and floats actually participating in the parade will be allowed in the staging area. All other vehicles must park in designated area. The only exception to non-parade vehicles in the staging area will be school buses carrying band members and equipment. 5. All animal units must provide their own cleanup before, during, and after the parade. 6. ALL VEHICLE OPERATORS MUST HAVE A VALID MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR’S LICENSE AND PROOF OF INSURANCE. 7. Numbered placement signs will be found on markers in staging area. These signs must be prominently displayed on the front, left side of your unit for proper identification by the judges and any media coverage. The parade committee’s decision on placement is final. 8. Due to insurance regulations, NOTHING IS TO BE THROWN FROM ANY UNIT ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE. Those walking alongside the parade entry may hand out candy and/or flyers. No articles or persons are to be hanging over the sides of the floats or out windows from enclosed vehicles. 9. NO stopping by any unit is allowed along the parade route unless so directed by a parade marshal. All performing units must perform ON THE MOVE to prevent the parade from backing up.

10. The Village of Chittenango and the OZSTRAVAGANZA! Committee will not be responsible for any broken, lost, or stolen items, accidents or injuries before, during, or after the OZ event.
