CAMP ST. CROIX FIELD TRIP We had a terrific day at Camp St. Croix on Thursday! Wearing team T shirts and showing our purple pride, the kids had fun working together. The climbing wall was a real highlight as each student not only met their goal on the wall, but cheered on teammates as they would “climb on”. A big thanks to Lisa Servatius and Peggie Mattsfield for chaperoning! Now, we’re looking forward to returning to camp in November. Forms and information will be coming home towards the end of September.

CLASS NEWS September 14 – September 18

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO? This first week of school we have had fun and worked hard to begin forming a strong team! We played games, solved challenges, and had good discussions to help us get to know one another. Respect for our teammates, our classroom, and our school has been a topic we’ve returned to often. We know that we are the role models for the school, and we’ve practiced routines like walking in the hallways, arriving, and dismissing, to demonstrate our caring attitude. We also spent time reflecting on, and writing about, our hopes and dreams for the year. Ask your 5th grader what he or she hopes to accomplish this school year. Next week, we will jump right in to some of the academic pieces that will continue throughout the year. First spelling list, IB Planner, and math unit will begin. Our first homework packet will also be given, although we will work on this first one together in class, to model for the students organizing our work time and breaking the assignment into smaller parts to complete. I have really enjoyed getting to know your child, and I look forward to an amazing year!! 
