Attacking Stats – Home highlights Blackburn: Their shooting accuracy rating this month is the worst in the Premiership – and it is costing them dearly. Blackburn spurned numerous chances against the Hammers recently and dropped 2 points as a result. Must improve quickly or face the threat of relegation.

End-to-End Match of the Month There were 33 shots in the Pompey – Chelsea match.

Wigan: Were highlighted last month as a team to support at home in ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ bets, and they delivered two wins out of two. Steve Bruce’s side continue to struggle to put the ball in the net – it’s taking them a huge 48 shots to score – and we should continue to bet ‘Under 2.5 Goals.’ Low Shooting Match of the Month Strugglers Hull and Newcastle produced just 5 ‘on target’ shots in 90 minutes.

Man Utd: Are under the microscope after their calamitous 4-1 home loss to Liverpool – but any team that enjoys around 60 percent possession and can score a goal in 8.67 shots is not dead and buried by any means – look for United to resume normal home service.

Hull: Are just not creating enough chances or getting enough shots on target – their ‘on target’ rating this month of 2.0 is a league worst – no wonder they haven’t won any of their last 5 ‘homes.’ Look to support their visitors, or when their visitors are poor scorers – bet ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ in the match.

Attacking Stats – Away highlights Everton: Still struggling with injuries to their striking staff are taking over 30 shots to score a goal ‘away.’ But their resolute defence is doing a decent job, and the result is just 7 total goals in Everton’s last 6 road games, with 3 of those coming in one match against Pompey. Look out for ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ Hull: Their away shooting stats look sickly to say the least – lowest ‘on target’ rating in the Premiership, worst ‘shooting accuracy’ in the Premiership, and poor possession figures too. Hull have only scored twice in their last 6 ‘road’ games, so look for opponents to ‘Keep A Clean Sheet’ or to ‘Win To Nil.’ Middlesboro: Have not scored a goal in their last 6 away games – yet they allow opponents to score a goal for every 7.67 shots they take. Look to oppose in the ‘match result’ market – and look to back opponents To Keep A Clean Sheet

Middlesboro Boro’s woes on the road perfectly illustrated by their game against Stoke. Boro enjoyed 65% possession and still didn’t score. Bolton Had 11 shots ‘on target’ against WBA, joint highest total of the month (with Chelsea and Newcastle.)

Liverpool: We said last month that ‘Liverpool would be very hard to beat away from Anfield,’ and they didn’t let us down, beating Man U 4-1 at Old Trafford. The ‘Pool have been strong on the road all year, and they continue to hold fine possession, ‘shots on’ and ‘shots per goal’ ratings title.

Goals & Saves – Home highlights Everton: Have scored 14 goals in their last half-dozen home matches, and that’s as good a record as anyone in the league – only Liverpool have scored as many (and they hit 5 in one game past a listless Villa.) The Everton defence have conceded only twice, so the Blues are a side to follow at Goodison. Arsenal: Conceded a goal to Liverpool on December 20th – and then went six games at the Emirates without letting in another. Look to back the Gunners to Win To Nil or to Keep A Clean Sheet Top Scorers Anelka 15 Gerrard 13 Ronaldo 13 Crouch 11 Robinho 11

West Brom: There have been plenty of goals here recently – 21 in the last 6 games – and West Brom at home should be considered for ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ bets.

The Goal Providers Players who have made most ‘assists’ Van Persie 10 Berbatov 9 Malbranque 8 Ashley Young 8 Adebayor 7 Agbonlahor 7 Arteta 7

Tottenham: The Spurs defence has conceded only 2 goals in their last 6 ‘homes.’ Look for opportunities to back Tottenham’s opponent in the ‘No Goal Scorer’ market or alternatively, take a closer look at a suitable package of Correct Scores

Goals & Saves – Away highlights Sunderland: Have had big problems scoring on the road – but their defence has generally done a decent job of keeping them in the match. Just 10 goals in total in the Black Cats last 6 games makes ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ bets of interest. Chelsea: Have not been scoring many goals away from home recently – just 4 in their last 7 road matches. Look to support their opponents on the Asian Handicap, and when playing low-scoring hosts, consider ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ bets. Worst ‘Away’ Sides with the worst Away Goal Diff

Stoke –23 West Brom –21 Middlesboro –18 Portsmouth -11 Blackburn -10

Liverpool: There have been goals galore in Liverpool away games in the past month – and the Reds road matches are currently rated to produce the highest number of Total Goals in the league.

On The Road The teams with the best goal difference stats away from home.

Chelsea 16 Liverpool 14 Arsenal 10 Man Utd 9 Aston Villa 3

West Brom: Often create goal-scoring chances for themselves – but seldom take them – they’ve hit just 3 goals in their last 6 away games.

Wigan: Have problems putting the ball in the net – another good striker an essential for next year – but their defence is well organised and effective and there have been just 8 goals in Wigan’s last 6 away matches. Look to bet ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ away from home.

Bookings & Fouls – highlights Most Booked Players Lee Cattermole 10 yellows 2 reds Kevin Nolan 10 yellows 1 red Marouane Fellaini 12 yellows Kieran Richardson 10 yellows

Man Utd: Aren’t often on the wrong end of drubbings from Fulham and Liverpool, and the Red Devils didn’t handle it too well – picking up a stack of red and yellow cards. But United are likely to re-group, and return to their usual low-card status - both home and away. Sunderland: The relegation-threatened Black Cats are fighting desperately hard to avoid the drop – but they are becoming a reckless, especially away from home. Sunderland have picked up 21 yellows and a red in their last 6 road games – the highest card total in the Premiership. Liverpool: Continue to have a good season for results away from home – which may be a big influence on their low card ratings ‘on the road.’ Look to bet low cards ‘away’, especially when Liverpool meet other well-behaved sides – and when Liverpool’s leading card earner Arbeloa is on the bench.

Fulham: Have been a very solid ‘low card’ team on the road all year – they are easily the least-booked ‘away’ side in the Premiership, and the trend continues. Look to bet low cards in Fulham road games, or against an aggressive opponent – look to bet the opponent ‘To Receive The First Card.’

Referee highlights M. Riley and M. Dean: If all football teams were as consistent as these two maestros of the red and yellow cards, the bookies would be running for cover. These two staunch high dealers have been at the top of the ‘most cards dished out’ table from the start, and show no signs of mellowing. Fine ingredients for any ‘high’ cards bets. The Red Mist Teams Most Red Cards so far M. Halsey: Continues to be one of the Top Red-Dealing Refs lowest dealing refs that the Premiership has Man United 5 ever seen. His average of 16 points per M. Dean 6 Stoke 5 game is a massive 11 points lower than the M. Atkinson 5 Man City 4 next lowest card dealer. Halsey is a solid R. Styles 5 Wigan 4 gold low dealer. H. Webb 5 Tottenham 4 P. Dowd 4 Newcastle 4 Blackburn: Could be feeling hard-done-by A. Marriner 4 by the refs just now. Check their home M. Riley 4 ratings and you’ll see that opponents have to commit a huge 3.40 fouls S. Tanner 3 before picking up a bookings point against Big Sam’s men – that’s remarkably lenient. Liverpool: Who were rampant in March on the match results front, seem to have been enjoying a fair bit of protection from the refs too. Opponents only have to commit 0.36 of a foul to pick up a bookings point at Anfield, and 0.43 when Liverpool are on the road. Useful info for anyone contemplating a bookings points superiority bet.

Corner Stats – Highlights West Ham: Continue to be a star corners performer at home – a massive 80 percent of games at Upton Park returning ‘11 corners or Over’ payouts. A strong trend, and one to stay with. Blackburn and Sunderland: Have to be mentioned again this month – these ‘corners twins’ have identical ‘home’ figures, with a huge 80 percent of all matches at Ewood Park and The Stadium of Light producing ’11 Corners and Under’ results. These strong trends look likely to be profitable right to the end of the season. Corner Curiosities Man U failed to force a corner in the first half in their away game at Fulham

West Brom: Own the strongest ‘away’ corners trend in the league – 73 percent of all Baggies ‘away’ games have delivered payouts to ‘Over 11 Corners’ backers. Naturally, we should continue to cash in.

Corners game of the month The award this month goes to the Fulham - Hull game, which saw 18 flag kicks in all, Fulham 13, Hull 5

Newcastle: We’ll have to see if new boss Alan Shearer makes a difference – but so far this season 80 percent of the Magpies away games have produced ’11 corners and Under’ results, one of the most reliable corner trends in the Premiership.

Attacking Stats – Home highlights Burnley: Have been hammering in the goals – 15 in their last 6 home games – and conceding them too – 8 goals allowed in the same period. The result is a current Total Goals rating of 4.0, look to bet ‘Over 2.5 Total Goals’ Reading: For the seventh period in a row the Royals are still rated high in the corners department. Once again we should look out for are those affairs where the visitors can be expected to keep Reading at bay for a significant period. Match Watch April 10th @ home to Sheffield Utd Birmingham: Don’t score many at home, but they concede even fewer – and that’s a great recipe for ‘Under 2.5 Total Goals’ bet.

Attacking Stats – Away highlights Sheffield United: Are the only side in the Championship to have a positive goal difference figure over their last 6 ‘away’ games (scored 9, conceded 4.) With a playoff place at stake look to the Blades to keep op the pressure, look to support in the 90-minute or Asian Handicap markets. Notts Forest: Have scored only 3 times in their last 6 away games – and conceded on 13 occasions. Look to oppose on the road, look to back opponents To Keep A Clean Sheet or to Win To Nil Southampton: Have been clocking up plenty of yellow cards away from home recently – look to bet ‘high’ cards when meeting similarly abrasive opponents.

League 1 – Home & Away highlights Leeds: Have been invincible at home recently, they have won all of their last 6 home games and recorded a smashing ‘scored 14, conceded 2’ goals tally in that period. Right in the middle of a fight for play-off action we can expect Leeds to keep their foot firmly on the pedal. Look to support at home. Carlisle: Are sitting just above the relegation zone, and their home form is a huge worry – just 3 points earned from the last 18 up for grabs on home turf is abysmal. This is a side to bear in mind in the relegation market. Bristol Rovers: Have been firing in goals away from home, 14 in the last half-dozen road games, and have conceded only 2 in that sequence. Look to support on the road. Millwall: Continue earn yellow and red cards hand over fist – particularly ‘away.’ Look to bet high cards whenever given the opportunity.

Coming Soon… Exclusive Premiership Team Ratings! We’re crunching the numbers – the shots, the corners, the possession, the goals – and everything else that we know about teams’ performances – and putting them all together to make a brand new and exclusive Sports Statistician Team Rating figure. With this figure you will be able to weigh up any match in seconds, just compare the Team Ratings and the bookies prices - and you’ll know not only if there is a bet – but just how strong that bet is. Sports Stat Team Ratings are going to make Premiership punting simple and accurate. 

Just HOW much better are Man United away from home than their hosts, say Aston Villa, – and do the bookies offer a price on either of them (or on the draw) worth taking? The Sports Stat Team Ratings will tell you at a glance.

Right now we’re re-running every game this season through our model, checking the results and our built in ‘weighting’ system, so that we can offer Sports Statistician readers only the best superbly accurate ratings. Here’s what we have planned – ALL members will receive ALL of the following…

2009/10 Season Prospectus Membership of our private Twitter service Receive notification on your computer or phone of our bets, our thoughts on coming bets, games, and tournaments – the latest sports and betting news – and our ‘take’ on the day’s sporting action

Sports Stat Alerts Our no limit e-mail service – the cream of our betting advice sent immediately by email whenever we see a solid profit opportunity. PLUS Text message back-up!

SMS – Text Service Sports Stat Euro

In 2009/10 season, all our email bets will also be sent direct to your mobile

Full stats and comments on Europe’s top leagues – the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, and our latest addition, French Ligue 1.

Sports Stat Premiership Sports Stat UK Full stats and comments on all the other UK leagues, from the Scottish Premier, the Championship, Coca Cola Leagues One and Two, right through to the Blue Square Premier (Conference.)

A much-expanded Premiership service featuring far more stats and comments – sections devoted to player performances – sections aimed at winning from specific bookmaker bets, and spread bets too – and of course – the Sports Stat Team Ratings

We don’t have our precise costs on all this yet – but here is a promise – the new much improved yearlong service will be appreciably LESS than you have paid for the Sports Statistician in the past…

League 2 – Home & Away highlights Barnet: Plenty of goalmouth action at both ends when Barnet are at home – there were 24 goals in their last 6 home games, split 15-9 in favour of the home side. Look to bet ‘high’ goals and ‘early’ goals whenever the opportunity arises. League 2 Shooters Rochdale Bradford Dag & Red Shrewsbury Chesterfield Bournemouth Luton Aldershot Bury

Dag & Red: The Daggers have an amazing pair of ‘corners won’ ratings this month and comfortably lead the STD Corners won table with a whopping 302 corners for the season. A standing dish for ‘Over 11 Corners’ backers Bradford: Are in the battle for a play-off place, but their away form has been dire recently – just 1 point from the last 18, only 3 goals scored and 15 conceded. Look to oppose on the road.

Combined Shots ‘For’ 2008/9 Home and Away

Wycombe: Continue to be a great side for ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ bets. Just 17 goals in their last 10 games (home and away.) A very solid trend that looks like running to season’s end.

Conference – Home & Away highlights Forest Green: Whether home or away Forest Green score plenty and concede plenty too – 69 total goals at home and 58 away from home so far means that this side are a great hunting ground for ‘Over’ goals bets. Lewes: Continue to go backwards. Their inability to put the ball in the net makes bets on opponents to Keep A Clean Sheet, Win To Nil, and to Score First all of lively interest.

shots shots shots shots shots shots shots

Crawley: Have scored 41 goals in their first 20 home games – only league leaders Burton have scored more. With a play-off spot still a possibility expect Crawley to continue their free-scoring style. Look to support at home and to bet ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ when playing a suitable opponent.

Combined Shots ‘For’ 2008/9 Home and Away

Woking: have only scored 12 goals on the road in 19 games, and they are a great ingredient for ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ bets when playing away.

SPL – Home highlights Rangers: Another great set of home ratings for rangers – they continue to register a series of significant highs and – along with Celtic – are a different class to their SPL peers. The Gers still trail Celtic by 3 points and with the goal difference in the balance, we’re in for an interesting finish 2008/9 SPL Shooters League Rangers Celtic Hibernian Inverness Hearts Aberdeen Dundee Utd Motherwell St Mirren

Dundee Utd: Once again Dundee United boasts a high ‘corners for’ rating with only Rangers and Celtic doing better. The message is the same – continue to look out for potential ‘buys’ of the Corners Total or take a position in the Corner Handicap market Celtic: The Bhoys still top the SPL table – but only just. Period 7 was poor one for them with just 10 points secured from a possible 18 but there’s no doubting the class at home. No negatives to talk of here this month

Points ‘For’. 10pts per Yellow, 25 pts Motherwell – Yet another set of poor corner per Red ratings – a quite amazing trend this – and not surprisingly the message stays the same. Either bet low against a poor road corner winner or oppose them on the Corner H’cap if you get the chance

St Mirren – The Mirren have been a well behaved side for a while now and not once this season have they gone into a match with a negative Bookings Rating (IE being rated higher in the ‘for’ column than the ‘against’ column). Against a volatile traveller we should be looking for a suitable way to profit from this

SPL – Away highlights Falkirk – ICT are doing their best to thwart our 13/2 ‘Finish Bottom’ picks, but Falkirk have failed to take advantage with only 10 points from the 27 on offer since the New Year. Falkirk remain bottom, but this has all the makings of a squeaker that could very well go down to the last game of the 2009/10 season. St Mirren – St Mirren continue to perform terribly on the road with terminal looking lows every department again. With only 3 points between them and the bottom spot, they’ll need to keep their eye on the ball General – There isn’t a team in the SPL that would be pleased with their P7 performance. There are a few half decent efforts, but on the whole it’s a grey pile rubbish that’s difficult to analyse effectively. The Old Firm – Neither Rangers nor Celtic excelled on the road during P7 – there are some positives to drawn upon, but non that make the short prices on offer about them value.

Motherwell – Corner winning isn’t Motherwell’s thing and it’s no surprise to see over 70% of their away matches settle with ‘Under 10.5’ corners. Our usual strategy in such cases is to oppose on the Corner Handicap or bet ‘Low – however we need to ensure that we’re not caught out by any dead rubbers. If the opposition fits the bill though and are ‘trying’ then I could only ever look to oppose Motherwell
