Dear, On behalf of Mayor Thomas M Menino and the Office of New Bostonians, I would like to thank you for your generous support of the We Are Boston 2008 Gala, celebrating diversity, immigrant heritage and contributions. We hope we can count on your support again in affirming the importance of diversity, immigrant contributions and heritage at a crucial time. We live in a unique moment in history, at the nexus of challenge and opportunity. The economic challenges we face are real. However, it is also a time of hope and opportunity. We just swore in the first African American and son of an immigrant as the 44 President of the United States. To squarely and successfully face today’s challenges, embracing/mining the richness of diversity and supporting crucial programs that assist newcomers to fully participate and contribute to the regions economic wealth is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Last year, more than eight hundred friends and supporters gathered to honor Bill Russell, Celtic’s Great and the contributions of other local leaders in an inspiring program recognizing the dreams, drive and contributions of the immigrant and diverse communities of Boston and across the Commonwealth. We are preparing for another extraordinary event this Fall. We are thrilled to announce that Yo Yo Ma, world renowned Cellist will be the 2009 We Are Boston Leadership Award, in recognition for his many accomplishments and contributions. The award to Yo-Yo Ma and other outstanding local leaders will be presented by Mayor Menino on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 5:45 PM at the Hynes Convention Center We hope that (insert firm) will continue to support the We Are Boston Gala this year and join other corporate leaders in demonstrating their commitment to promoting diversity in the City of Boston and beyond. All proceeds will support the English for New Bostonians initiative, a city-private-community partnership enabling more than one thousand New Bostonians access to English classes and other crucial programs that enable New Bostonians to better acclimate themselves in Boston. Sponsorship details as well as nomination details are included for your review. Thank you for your support and looking forward to working with you in helping make this event a continued grand success. Sincerely,

Cheng Imm Tan, Director
