Speed School Student Council elections determine representation by Jared Hatfield, Editor The yearly elections for Speed School Student Council was held Monday September 17 where first, fourth and fifth year representatives were decided. Second and third year representative elections were held during the summer semester where those representatives were elected. General business meetings for council are held every Thursday at 12:20 PM in Vogt 311. Meetings last until 1:00 PM and attendance for elected representatives is mandatory.

An important aspect of Council is the subdivision called Freshman Council. Freshman Council meets weekly on Fridays and is entirely composed of first year freshmen. The purpose of Freshman Council is to introduce new members to who council functions and host one activity a semester. The elected president of Freshman Council is Hannah Downs. The Speed School Student Council is responsible for hosting many events at Speed School. These include regular events such as Cheap Lunches and also yearly events such as E-Expo and E-Ball.

Another round of Assassins to hit Speed School by Jared Hatfield, Editor The first game of Assassins for the fall 2007 semester will start at midnight on September 24th. Assassins is a SSSC run game where participants attempt to “assassinate” their target. This entails simply finding them and telling them they are assassinated. Detailed rules are available on the website. Students familiar with the game and those that have not played yet are encouraged to participate.

The Game Begins September 24 How To sign up.... 1) Go to http://www.speedcouncil.org/assassins/ (Note: You must be registered at speedcouncil.org and logged in) 2) On the second navigation bar, click "Game Stats" 3) Click on the September 24th "Assassins!" 4) Click "Join Game" Assassins is a simple strategic game that consists of a group of people and contracts. Yes, it's safe - physical harm is not part of the play. Instead, the nature of the game is to: 1. Track down your mark and complete a contract 2. More importantly, stay in the game.

Council Update Speed School Student Council is constantly busy throughout the semester with many different activities. Following is a short list of ongoing and upcoming activities along with other important information.

Study Jams are study sessions provided by council for EAC 101 students who want help with calculus homework from upperclassmen. The help sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30—8:00 PM in Vogt 314.

News Briefs Exam Fees for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam The Kentucky legislature just approved an amended fee statute which will allow the Kentucky State Licensing Board to reimburse the Fundamentals of Engineering and Fundamentals of Surveying exam fees for those students who pass the exam while still enrolled in school. Assassins is a game run by council where no one is actually injured. The game's concept is to receive a contract, hunt down a contract. To “kill” a target, simply be within arms reach of a co ntr act and scr eam “Assassinated!” At this point the target has been assassinated and the assassin receive on kill and their contract which the target was seeking.
