Theory : ➢ The instrument that display the frequency domain is a spectrum analyser.

➢ To display the frequency domain requires a device that can discriminate between frequencies while measuring the power level at each level it graphically display voltage & power as a function of frequency on a CRO. ➢ All components of frequency of a signal are sleen summed together in the

frequency domain is a graphical representation of signal amplitude as a function of frequency. ➢ The spectrum analyser has certain advantage compared with an oscilloscope.

The spectrum analyser can be used to measure long and short term stability. Procedure : ➢ Connect Spectrum analyser, function generator and BNC to BNC cable and

switched on the power. Connect BNC to BNC cable from function generator to spectrum input. Set the Spectrum centre frequency at 0-0 position. ➢ Give 2 MHZ 12 P-P i/p to the spectrum analyser from function generator. ➢ Set the Scan width as require. ➢ Move the marker slowly and measure the frequency from spectrum display.
