About The Event This two-day mega event will surely be trendsetter among the youth, as this would incorporate techno managerial skills of the participants while triggering the fun quotient in them. Synonymous to its name, Spectrum 2009 is bringing along a whole gamut of events promising something for everyone. Spectrum aims at creating a culture of participation, sharing and teamwork among the participants. This is one of its kind event where the participants get to show their mettle in competing against each other, but at the end of day they are also given to let their hair down and bask in camaraderie while enjoying enigmatic events of the evening.

Methodology A majority of events will require the participants to put their skills to use on the spot as per rules of the events. However, a few of the events may require prior preparation. Please see the programme structure for more details.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

MANTHAN CHAKRAVYUH (JANUARY 16 - 17, 2009)

Timing: 09:30am -01: 30 pm

Chakravyuh is a management simulation game that enables the participants to manage a real business in a simulated environment where they go through the pains & gains of running a company in a competitive and turbulent situation. They take strategic business decisions and see the impact on business. Chakravyuh is a unique platform for students to experience the thrill of managing business in a competitive mode. Chakravyuh will be conducted by Dr Vinod Dumblekar who is India's most experienced authority and only researcher in software-based simulations and games. He is a management teacher, trainer, consultant and researcher. Nearly 15,000 professional managers and many B-School students have participated in his simulation games in India and abroad. Dr Dumblekar is the only Indian on the Steering Committee of the International Simulation and Gaming Association. • Team size is FOUR. • The two days game is spread over various rounds. • Each team represents an enterprise/institution. • Functional heads are appointed by the team, like CEO, CFO, COO, and CMO. ELIGIBILITY: Full time students of PGDM, MBA, MBE. IMPORTANT NOTE: Chakravyuh is a standalone game running throughout the duration of MANTHAN. Therefore, the nominating institution is requested to nominate an independent team for Chakravyuh. KHUL JA SIM-SIM (JANUARY 16, 2009)

Timing: 10:00am -11: 30 am

“Innovation” is vehicle of growth for an organization that helps the organization in distinguishing itself from the competitors. Khul Ja Sim-Sim would help the participants to unravel their innovativeness. This theme-based competition requires participants to develop management thoughts/ethos/philosophies/concepts based on chosen movie clips. The participants will be required to send their movie clips and PPT presentations on CD by January 5, 2009 along with the registration form. Team size is TWO.

GYAN DHARA (JANUARY 16, 2009)

Timing: 10:00 am-11:30 am

Indian epics, as role models, are still relevant till today, as they keep explaining the role of ethics in every walk of life. Gyan Dhara is a game, which enables the participants to learn and explore ideas through Indian fables, folk tales & epics. The participants will be required to relate the above with management concept(s). The participants will be required to send their story by January 5, 2009 along with the registration form. Team size is TWO. MY VOICE (JANUARY 16, 2009)

Timing: 10:00 am-11:30 am

Thoughts remain thoughts unless they are expressed. When expressed they become value minting ideas. This game would motivate the participants to let their minds be known to the world, the values they stand for and the happenings they are averse to. This game will test the arguing capabilities of the participants for or against a given contemporary topic. Team size is TWO. YOUNG MANAGER (JANUARY 16, 2009)

Melting down of US economy has dragged the world economy into recession. But India is still a preferred destination for global business leaders. They haven’t stopped boarding their business ships to India. Indian market is becoming low-cost hub having tremendous innovative capabilities for BPOs, IT firms, Retailing, Insurance, Manufacturing etc. The whole world has recognized us as “The Country of Most Innovative Minds”. It’s time to share your ideas and unfold your business acumen. The participants will be required to identify and select a business opportunity and prepare a Business Plan for implementation keeping in view the following parameters 1. The macro & micro-environment of the area for the business selected 2. Market Feasibility: Market potential, demand –supply analysis 3. Develop marketing strategy 4. Competition analysis 5. Estimated cost of project and its financing 6. Technical and financial viability The Business Plan will be evaluated on the basis of following: 1. Innovativeness 2. Marketing strategy 3. Technical and financial feasibility 4. Risk involved 5. Quality of report preparation 6. Quality of presentation 7. Ability to handle queries Submission should be made on A4 size paper (duly typed) (No hand- written entry is acceptable). Last date of registration on prescribed form and submission of Business Plan is January 5, 2009. Team size is THREE (ONLY PGDM / MBA students). BUSITOONS (JANUARY 16, 2009)

Timing: 11.30 am-01:30 pm

You always had it in your heart but never had the courage to exhibit. Here comes your chance. Entries of business cartoons are invited based on the following themes: • Humor in Attrition • Humor in Recession • Price War • Had Shakuni been RBI Chief The participants will be required to submit their business cartoon on either digital or paper document (chart paper -full size) format on or before January 5, 2009. Team size is THREE.

ADMANIA (JANUARY 16, 2009)

Timing: 11:30 am-01:30 pm

Why don’t you drive your ad mad with your fad and topple your creativity on audience? Put your imaginative engines on work and make the audience know your world of ads. The participants will be required to send brief themes through mail on or before January 5, 2009. Team size is SIX. DAZZLERS (JANUARY 16, 2009)

Timing: 2:00 pm-04:00 pm

Show your moves, adapt to sync and drive the world crazy with dances. Feel the adrenaline rushing and see the audience gasping for breath and asking for more. This is a free style group dance competition. Team size is FOUR.

EVENT DETAILS The INMANTECians bring for you an evening that is full of their colorful, vivacious, dazzling performances with Rock Band, Group Thematic Dances, Skits & Songs. Following this, come Joshilay -the latest stars on the horizon of Indi-pop, making their way to the charts and already rocking with an album “Punjabis on the floor". The Indi-Pop band that combines the singing prowess of Jolly and the instrumental talent of Julius call themselves Joshilay and not without reasons. They are enthusiastic about everything; dancing on the stage, rocking people to their foot-tapping Hindi-Bhangra numbers like “MUNIA RE MUNIA”, “KULLIN VICHON NI”, “CHAD KE NA JAA” etc.

DJ Notorious has rapidly become one of India’s youngest and most sought after DJ. His remixes have taken the clubs by storm all over India and across the world. He is also a trick DJ doing various tricks on the turntables like putting records on fire, scratching with a cue stick etc. His famous stints with remixes are "JAB ANDHERA HOTA HAI", “AA DEKHEIN ZARA”, “THE PASSION OF ANGAAR” etc.

EVENT DETAILS HUNT D' WITCH

The computer coding based on various languages like C/C++, Java and SQL shall be given to the participants. The coding will contain some bugs/errors. The participants have to identify and fix those bugs. One, who digs deep, finds the sorceress…! Team size is ONE. THE YOUTH BLOG

This is a paper presentation competition based on the following IT topics: 1. Artificial Intelligence 2. Open Source 3. Robotics 4. Ethical Hacking 5. Quantum Computing 6. Nano Technology A team can select only ONE topic and submit a paper to Mr Gaurav Parashar at [email protected] on or before January 5, 2009. The guidelines regarding structure of papers are available at www.inmantec.edu/spectrum09. The panel of judges will screen three best entries on the basis of submitted papers and the short listed teams will be informed accordingly. On the day of competition, the short listed team has to present its paper on the selected topic. Make your ideas speak. Team size is TWO. ACT-D-FACT

This event is just like dumb-charade, in which one participant of a team has to act on any given IT term and his/her team members have to guess the term. Let’s do IT. Team size is THREE. EUPHONY

This event is based on blending of creativity and technical acumen through poetry in the form of songs, ghazals, qawaalies etc. The participating teams have to prepare items beforehand. You sure have guts to enthrall the audience. Let’s see the singer in you. Team size is TWO. KWIZ

Timing: 11:30 am-12:30 pm

KWIZ is a specialized quiz dedicated to IT. The best will match their wits and battle it out with their knowledge of IT world. Team size is TWO.

Last date for registration to all Events: January 5, 2009 Specific Rules to CHAKRAVYUH: 1. Students must be from PGDM/MBA stream or equivalent. Students from part-time courses and distance learning programme are ineligible. 2. Students need to bring calculators; laptops are forbidden. 3. The game will start at 9.30 am and end at 01.30 pm, on both days. On the first day, students must report at 09.00 am to complete registration formalities. 4. Students who report late - whatever be the reason - will not be admitted to the game, even if fee has been paid. Specific Rule to SpirIT: Registration to individual SpirIT events will be done on first come first served basis and will close after registration of TEN teams in a respective event (unless otherwise stated). General Rules 1. A College can send only one team in an event. Due to time constraints, the organizers may close registration for an event in case the registrations increase beyond a particular number. This, however, will be intimated to the team/college authority in time. 2. Registration fee of Rs 1500 per college is applicable. However, an additional registration fee of Rs 500 will be applicable on colleges participating in CHAKRAVYUH. The Registration Fee can be deposited in cash or through demand draft in favor of Integrated Academy of Management And Technology payable at Delhi/Ghaziabad. 3. The organizers can provide free LIMITED boarding and lodging facilities to the students of participating colleges for boys and girls separately. The requests regarding boarding and lodging should reach the concerned organizers (Mr Vivek Sexena: +91-9999678616 and Ms Olympia: +91-9818579220) on or before January 5, 2009. 4. All participants must bring identity cards issued by their respective institutes. 5. The participants must carry costumes, makeup kits, musical instruments and other related items with them (if at all required for a particular event). 6. All participants must report at Registration Desk of INMANTEC from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on January 16 and January 17, 2009 irrespective of the time of event, unless specified otherwise. 7. The teams/participants are strictly advised to adhere to the general and specific rules and maintain a strict code of decorum. 8. In case of violation of any rule, the team/individual will be disqualified from the existing as well the remaining events. 9. Decision of judges would be final and binding. 10. In the larger interest of participants, INMANTEC reserves the right to add to or modify any rule, as it deems fit.
