Choose the right frame for your application T

he frame is the foundation of any entrance. It must be capable of holding the components of the entrance system in position securely to keep doors and hardware operating properly without the need for constant adjustment and repair. Many entrance problems attributed to doors are actually frame problems. At Special-Lite, we believe longer-lasting doors deserve longerlasting frames, so that’s what we make. Entrance framing and panels should also be consistent with the architectural theme of the building and contribute to its beauty. We combine the highest quality materials with proven designs and hands-on craftsmanship to produce attractive and durable frame and panel products that harmonize with the design of our customers’ buildings, and our long-lasting doors. With such a wide variety of Special-Lite® Framing Products from which to choose, you can specify the frame that’s perfect for your application. Every Special-Lite Frame and Panel is custom-manufactured to create the ideal entrance solution for any renovation or new construction project. Choose our heavy wall flush glazed or applied stop heavy-duty tube frame for entrances subject to heavy traffic or other environmental challenges. Our storefront framing is a competitively-priced solution when service requirements are less demanding.

Framing Better materials and construction make our framing more durable. Only the finest materials and workmanship go into Special-Lite Entrance Products

O

ur frame extrusions are manufactured from 6063-T5 aluminum alloy with Class 1 architectural grade (.7 mil) anodized or Kynar® painted finish. Thanks to these highly durable finishes, our entrances will look like new for years with only routine cleaning with mild soap and water.

For extended entrance life with minimal maintenance, all corner joints are secured with heavy-duty internal joint anchors that enhance joint strength. Special-Lite Frames are also internally reinforced with aluminum bar stock at the closer, mullion, and locking strike attachment points to reduce metal fatigue and prevent component loosening. To ensure the highest quality workmanship, correct fit, and reliable performance, every Special-Lite Frame is fully assembled at our factory with minimal knock-down for shipment. We provide detailed installation instructions and a schedule of glass sizes with each job for faster, easier installation. Kynar® is a registered trademark of ATOFINA Chemicals, Inc.

Special-Lite® Panels–

for more security, durability and energy efficiency than glass

S

pecial-Lite® Panels can provide an attractive and effective solution to broken glass problems while improving facility security. And with a little creativity, they can also add flair to your entrance designs. Our panels are made with the same face sheet materials as our flush doors, and offer the same color and texture options to guarantee a perfect match. Choose from Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP), Acrylic Modified Polyester (AMP) or Aluminum, depending on the demands of your particular application. These materials and finishes will not rust, chip or peel, making our panels maintenance-free.

All panels are made to customer specifications in thicknesses of 1⁄ 4", 1" or 13⁄ 4", in any size up to 4' x 8'. Contact the factory for specific limitations. 13⁄ 4" thick panels feature wood perimeter frames and pouredin-place urethane cores that not only increase the strength of the panel, but provide thermal insulation comparable to a door of the same type. Our 1" panels have a urethane foam core bonded between the outer skins, and an “R” value of 4.3. Our urethane foam is also impervious to water for longer life. For small areas or vestibules not requiring thermal insulation, 1⁄ 4" thick panels are an alternative. 1⁄ 4" panels with composite face sheets are made with two face sheets bonded back-toback. Aluminum 1⁄ 4" panels include .125" tempered hardboard between face sheets for added rigidity.

Panels Complement the character of your building with matching panels and doors. SL-30 Sandstone-Textured FRP Panels The SL-30 Panel is the perfect complement to our SL-20 SandstoneTextured FRP Flush Door and provides an aesthetically-pleasing surface finish for locations not expected to see deliberate abuse or vandalism. Face sheets are .120” thick and can be painted to match any color desired.

SL-36 Aluminum Panels The SL-36 Panel matches our SL-16 Aluminum Flush Door and is recommended for locations where the aesthetic appeal of a smooth face sheet is desired, but harsh treatment is not likely.

SL-37 Pebblegrain FRP Panels The SL-37 Panel is the perfect match for our SL-17 FRP Flush Door. Like the SL-17, it can stand up to the most demanding applications imaginable. Featuring our exclusive, .120" thick, through-colored SpecLite 3® pebblegrain FRP, it provides exceptional resistance to impact, scratches, stains, and fading. The SL-37 Panel can also be ordered with painted pebblegrain FRP face sheets.

SL-38 AMP Colonial Panels The SL-38 is the right choice to maintain a classic colonial look for side lites and transoms without sacrificing performance. This panel is made with the same wood grain colonial panel face sheets as the SL-18 Door, and your choice of wood or extruded 13⁄ 4" aluminum perimeter frame. They can be finished in the same wood stain or painted finishes as our wood grain doors for a coordinated entrance design. Certain size and configuration limitations apply, including a size maximum of 4' x 8'. Contact Special-Lite for details.

SL-39 AMP Wood Grain Panels When you want the warm look of wood, without added maintenance, choose the SL-39 Panel. Constructed just like our aluminum and FRP-skinned panels, they feature the face sheets of the SL-19 Door, and are available in all of the same finish choices.

Recycled content and recycling

Special-Lite manufactures complete entrance solutions—doors, frames, and panels. Enjoy the convenience, reliability and performance advantages of having a complete, ready-to-install entrance supplied by a single source, delivered to the job site in a single, on-time shipment. Single-sourcing ensures proper fit for door and frame, correct hardware operation, exact finish match, and longer entrance life. We can even ship doors with hardware and glass installed, significantly reducing expensive job site labor and installation time, and preventing last-minute problems.

At Special-Lite, we source aluminum extrusions for all of our entrance products from prime-equivalent billet produced from 100 percent reprocessed 6063-T5 alloy recovered from industrial processes. The performance and appearance of these extrusions are equal in all respects to those made of virgin materials but require 95 percent less energy to produce. In addition, all of our framing products are fully recyclable. Special-Lite framing can help earn recycled material credits in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED standards.

A simple warranty that works To help simplify your life, we stand behind our products with an uncomplicated, 10-year, 100% parts and labor warranty. Ask your sales representative for a copy of our warranty statement, and compare it to what other supplier warranties actually cover after all of their exclusions and limitations. You’ll see that when you buy a Special-Lite Door, you’re really covered.
