This investigation is exactly as it sounds. A person of my selecting will write a series of questions they would like to be asked, or would ask, were they a part of an interview. Then, they will answer them. I have three or four potential candidates who I believe would suit this idea well. Due to their distinctive diction.

This idea is likely to occur over multiple mediums, specifically film, sound & written.

Another investigation that is fairly self explanatory. I have been, and will continue to, collect these updates that pertain express or embody ludic linguistic expressions/ themes.

This potential project seeks to capture the verbal, and non-verbal (but audible) expressions of young children, IMHO ranking as some of the most linguistically creative minds available.

Utilizing my growing collection of audio recordings from conversations and social environments, I would like to investigate the possibility of mapping conversations, and visualizing the subtle complexities of multiperson communication.

This project could take place across multiple mediums as well. I am leaving open the idea of including both recorded environments (audio and video) as well as group chats online. The final output is yetto-be-decided, possibly a printed map, or creating an environment or installation, in an effort to visualize the conversation.

The point of this investigation is simple, illustrate by example, what is lost when a Hip-Hop song, written using expressive ludic linguistics- is “translated” into no-nonsense MLAstyle sentences.

This potential project would be a collection of web-representations that utilize linguistic play. These would be literal representation of how we manipulate language to express ourselves and (how we hope to be) outwardly perceived/understood.

These twelve potential investigations are subject to evolution, inclusion or rejection in the final output of my senior project exhibit.

Audience: The act of profiling a person who would take interest in this project is one of great selfawareness. I have proposed a project that is growing inside me, it is near and dear to my heart, and for the next 3 months (at minimum) I will be nurturing it, grooming it and preparing to exhibit it. For this exercise of defining my demographic, I will start with the most specific, and work my way outward. Those who would be most thrilled by this project would take notice of how they and others speak. They would not judge, but instead feel excitement in the differences of diction. This viewer would benefit from a familiarity with pop-culture and contemporary dialects. Not only would the ideal onlooker have a vested interest in communication & culture, but they would also have an appreciation for design, illustration & typography. Because what I am describing above is essentially me, and this may not be an acceptable response, I will now use sweeping generalization & stereotypes to make neat piles of people who could appreciate this exhibition and all of its surrounding materials. First and foremost, I would like to make people excited about language, notice it, see it in a new light, appreciate it as an art form, a vehicle and a story in-and-of-itself. This project is aimed at a crowd ranging in age from 16 to 40. Their previously established interest in ‘the arts’ has brought them to encounter my piece. They are typical Americans, a mash up of cultures and races. They enjoy reading, therefore, they take my takeaways. Video footage of kids retelling their favorite stories has caught their eye, and now they are just tickled by the sight of these charismatic little performers. This is a project for culturally invested individuals, pop-culture connoisseurs and those whose unique voices are not always celebrated.
