Item 1: Presentation | Community Policing | Sgt. Tripp Discussion:

Sgt. Tripp of the Hamtramck Police Department discussed issues revolving around local high-schools and juveniles, such as truancy, vandalism, and robberies affecting the community. He also talked about plans to make instructional safety videos for citizens to help secure their homes. He described the working relationship between his office and the Detroit Police Department. Community members: Council member Cathy Gordon, Laurie Scott, and Gabriel Alaziz asked Sgt. Tripp concerning public safety and reported crimes they had witnessed. Sgt. Item 2: Old Business | Officer Elections | Mike Davis Discussion:

Former SEBC Vice President Mike Davis conducted elections for new officers. Election was explained as the person with the most votes become President, 2nd place took Vice President, and 3rd place took Secretary. Candidates were asked to come forward to run for office. Only Arif Huskic and Louis M. Privette III volunteered to run. Louis stated he was most interested in the Secretary position. Decisions: General consensus of the members attending was to allow Arif to fill the position of President and Louis to take the seat of Secretary. Opposition to these appointments was asked of the assembly, but none was given. The Vice President position remained unfilled. Action Item Responsible Deadline Notes NONE

Item 3: New Business | Intro & Open Floor | Arif Huskic Discussion:

Arif Huskic took the floor as the new President of the SEBC. He introduced himself and with the help of community leaders, discussed the basic operation of the group and described organization's purpose as an outreach for the South End community and described a realistic approach of observation, reporting, and persistence between the Block

Club and the citizens it serves in combating crime and urban blight. The floor was opened to general discussion. • Hamtramck Council member Dr. Abdul Algazali introduced himself and appealed to the members of the block club in the importance of working together as neighbors and to look after each other in order to overcome these difficult economic times. Stressed safety in pursuing community problems, especially those of a criminal nature. • Laurie Scott requested information and support in confronting local businesses that are ignoring or facilitating loitering, panhandling, and soliciting by vagrants and for the lack of having maintained their properties. • Ron Orr from the Community Policing Committee and member of neighboring Hamtramck 3c7 Neighborhood Watch introduced himself. He talked about local Weed & Seed graffiti removal initiatives. He also described his club's newsletter and community garden. He encouraged members to participate in the Hamtramck Clean Sweep that coming Saturday. • Beverly Tran offered to hand over web resources that were being used by the block club during her tenure as an officer, to be given the new officers. • Gabriel Alaziz from the Hamtramck Human Relations Commission presented himself. This commission is a conduit to the city council, and is a good resource to arrange issues with the City of Hamtramck. They meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, at Hamtramck City Hall. Decisions:
