LUNAR ECLIPSE:There are times when the earth, the moon & the sun are in a straight line during their travels. If at such a time the earth is between the sun & the moon. It may obstruct the light of the sun or cast a shadow on the moon. On such a night as the moon passes through the penumbra & the umbra of the earth’s shadow. It gets eclipses. When it enter the penumbra it looks dull. As it starts entering the umbra apart of it each blocked from view and there is a partial lunar eclipse. When the moon is entirely in the umbra there is a total lunar eclipse.

The region of the earth where the umbra of the shadow falls experiences a total solar eclipse and the region where the penumbra falls experiences a partial solar eclipse.
