Solar Energy-Assisted Water Solidifier is
a machine which transforms liquid water to solid ice.
Statement of the Problem How long will it take the machine to produce ice? 2. About how many kilograms of ice would be produced in one day? 3. How many kilowatts will be saved from the grid when using this machine? 1.
Objectives of the Study 1.To
produce ice using solar energy as a source; and 2.To minimize the electric utilization used for water solidification.
Significance of the Study To community especially to the fishermen because the ice produced will be used in fish preservation; 2. To environment because this machine uses solar energy which does not produce or emit pollution; and to the 3. To consumers because the ice produced will be cheaper than the commercial ones. 1.
Scope and Delimitation of the Study
The study will only focus on producing ice that will be supplied by the solar energy.
Definition of Terms
Ice - frozen water, a brittle, transparent crystalline solid.
Solar Energy - radiant energy emitted by the sun.
Electrical Energy - is a form of energy resulting from the flow of electric charge.
Compressor - is a mechanical device that increases the pressure of a gas by reducing its volume
Condenser - is a device or unit used to condense a substance from its gaseous to its liquid state, by cooling it.
Inverter- device that converts dc to ac
Definition of Terms
Freezing Point - the temperature at which a liquid turns into a solid when cooled.
Brine Solution - common fluid used as a secondary refrigerant in large refrigeration installations for the transport of thermal energy from place to place.
Water Paddle - device used to mix the liquid used in refrigeration process.
Battery – A container consisting of one or more cells, in which chemical energy is converted into electricity used as a source of power.
Charge Controller – Limits the rate at which electric current is added to or drawn from electric batteries.
