Smart Zone Climate System Zoning Solution

General Description What is a Climate Zoning System? A Climate zoning system is a method of control that divides your current home heating / cooling system into two completely independent systems, each with its own temperature sensor, time clock and control. Zones can be separated into living & sleeping zones, or upstairs and downstairs zones. How does a home climate zoning system save you money? By zoning your home, you only heat or cool the area you occupy; such as the living areas during the day and the sleeping areas during the night. How does a home climate zoning system improve home comfort? Each zone can have its own temperature set point, independent of the other zone. For example, the bedrooms can have a cooler set point than the living zones if required. Each zone will only receive heating or cooling when it requires it, regardless of the other zones needs.

A home climate zoning system can reduce energy costs by up to 50% while improving home comfort Why Zone your home? Each zone controls the system independently. The Smart Zone will call for heating or cooling, regardless of the other zones requirements. This is almost like having two separate systems. (Note, Both heating & cooling can’t run at the same time.) Each Zone has its own timer, sensor and set temperature. Because the Smart Zone is like two separate systems, the temperature is measured in the zone being heated or cooled. Further, each zone has its own time clock, therefore automatically turning on the heating or cooling when you have programmed it! Divide your home into Living and Sleeping Zones. Using the Smart Zone you are able to heat or cool the living zones during the day, and the sleeping zones during the night. Save energy by only heating or cooling the zones your occupying. Have two separate temperature Zones. As the Smart Zone is like having two completely independent heating or cooling systems, each zone can set separate comfort levels. Therefore eliminating the problem of the upstairs overheating while maintaining a comfortable temperature downstairs. Ideal for Shared accommodation. If you have a family member living with you, by zoning their area of the home they have control over their comfort level while leaving your settings unaffected. This also saves on energy costs as you only heat or cool the occupied area of the home.

Smart Zone

Zoned Gas Central Heating System The Smart Zone control board maintains the correct temperature in the zoned home by controlling the gas central heating/cooling unit and opening or closing the appropriate flow control damper(s) to the zone(s) that require heating. This ensures the correct temperature is maintained throughout your entire home.

The Problem Your home is two story and your thermostat is set to heat to 21Deg C. The downstairs cools and calls for heat. Unfortunately, the upstairs is already at an uncomfortable 23 Deg C. The heating system supplies heat to all the outlets, including the already overheated upstairs and by the time the downstairs reaches the set 21 Deg and turns the heating off, upstairs is at 27 deg. The Result Fuel bills are too high and upstairs rooms are unbearably hot.

The Solution Install a Smart Zone Climate Zoning system. In the above example the Smart Zone microprocessor based Zone Board will close the upstairs control vents and only supply heat to the downstairs vents. This will result in downstairs warming faster thereby reducing energy cost. Further, as no heat is supplied upstairs UNLESS it is required, the 21Deg set temperature is maintained.

Compatible with most types of thermostats

The Smart Zone will interface with most types and brands of thermostats regardless of manufacture; however the Smart Zone has been designed to operate best and take full advantage of the functions found in the Smart Temp thermostats. Short cycle protection Built-in time delays protect valuable equipment from rapid cycling between heat and cool, which may potentially damage the equipment. LED Indicators All relay functions are indicated by bright led’s. This provides visual indication of system function. Further, the Smart Zone is fitted with two diagnostics LEDS. These LEDs indication either normal operation, Time delay mode is active or zone wiring faults. Multistage Compatible The Smart Zone is able to control up to two stages of heat and one stage of cool as well as control the manual fan function of the equipment should the thermostats and heating / cooling unit support these functions. Compatible with all types of Dampers The Smart Zone uses 5amp change over contact voltage free relays. This ensures that the Smart Zone is compatible with drive open, drive closed motors. 24 V powered. Proudly designed and manufactured in Australia Smart Temp are a 100% Australian Owned company. The Smart Zone has be designed and built in Australia, for Australian Conditions.
