Rev. Rudolph Stewart III Senior Pastor

Sankofa International Baptist Church (SIBC) is a holistic Christian community that teaches and lives the mandate of Jesus Christ to become one with all of our brothers and sisters. Sankofa Church addresses the needs of the African -American community, Africans throughout the Diaspora, and anyone in need. Heavy emphasis is placed on the struggle and foundation laid by our human ancestors, the status and calling of the priesthood/clergy, the importance and role of elders in nation building and community living, and the preservation of the family. We believe that children are divine creations of God and should be nurtured, taught and spoken to as the present and future nations. Aligned with the goals of SIBC, we are taking the opportunity to give back to students who demonstrate a commitment to meeting the needs of the larger community, including taking a proactive role in nation building and a demonstrated dedication to ongoing service. Our church is funding and awarding a book scholarship for qualified freshman or sophomore students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who exemplify the principles taught at SIBC. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to one student at each of ten selected HBCUs. Applicants must meet the criteria listed below, complete the enclosed application, and answer the one-page essay question listed below. Scholarships will be offered each semester; the deadlines are July 1 (fall semester), November 1 (spring semester), and March 1 (summer sessions). Students may apply to receive only one SIBC scholarship per academic year. Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing by the SIBC Scholarship Committee no later than 4 weeks before the eligible term.
