FS/TONGAAT HEAVY DUTY CANE SHREDDER

FS/TH heavy duty cane shredder at Davao Sugar Company, Philippines. (60“dia x 84“ wide, 7500 tcd maximum rated capacity).

Excellent cane preparation: maximum sucrose extraction, minimum loss Designed to achieve very fine preparation of sugar cane by separating the fibres and opening the cell wall efficiently. This allows the subsequent extraction process to maximise the removal of the sucrose bearing juice from the prepared cane.

FS/TONGAAT HEAVY DUTY CANE SHREDDER

High performance

Those sugar factories which have achieved high extraction efficiency coupled with high throughput – either by conventional milling or by diffusion – will point to real heavy duty shredding – 90 plus PI – as being essential to this success. Only hammer type shredders have achieved over 90 PI consistently and only the original Tongaat design does this with efficient energy conversion and minimum wear – out performing all other types. Cost effective

The shredding action by the equipment exposes more fibre particles and ruptures a high degree of sucrose bearing cells. This process achieves two objectives: 1) Excellent juice extraction at each stage of extraction process. 2) Increases bulk density of the prepared cane, thereby increasing the capacity of the extraction plant. Absorbed power by milling or de-watering mills reduced, due to a

change in the mill setting configuration. Lower residual sucrose content in final bagasse improves overall recovery and provides excellent return on investment. Unique design

The FS/Tongaat shredder has been designed by operating mill engineers to meet their own very demanding specifications. The patented rotor design gives complete coverage over the width of the machine. The swing hammers overlap each other slightly to ensure that there is total swept area coverage – even when worn. Heavy duty construction

The FS/Tongaat shredder is an extremely robust fabricated assembly. The casing is substantially ribbed to provide a rigid support for the rotor bearings and can also be arranged to carry a set of rotating cane knives or a feed distributor on the top of the casing. This arrangement ensures an even feed of cane into the shredder – most important for optimum results.

The grid plate is hinged and located in such a way that even large pieces of tramp iron can pass through without significant damage to the shredder. The method of mounting the hammers in the unique rotor enables easy removal and replacement without the need to remove any part of the casing. This minimises down-time.
