SHIRDI GURUPURNIMA CELEBRATIONS`2009 7 July`2009 IBN-7 Shirdi (Ahmednagar) – Today, on the occasion of Guru-Purnima, lakhs of Devotees from all over the world have turned up in Shirdi to have Sai Baba’s darshan which has a big significance on this Holy occasion. On the full moon day of the month of Ashad, Guru-Poojan is celebrated, and this is why in comparison to the other Purnima’s of the entire year, this Purnima is given the most importance. Thus, all devotees go to have darshan of their Guru’s on this divine day. Many years back, on the occasion of Vyas puja, devotees used to gather in Dwarkamai and do Sai Baba’s pooja regarding him as their Guru. Sai Baba’s devotees regard Baba as their Guru and thus they reach Sai Temples all over including Shirdi in respect of their Faith & Gratitude for Baba. Without a Guru there can be no knowledge and a Guru is the only link connecting the individual’s soul to the Universal soul. On Guru-Purnima, around 4-5 lakhs of devotees are expected in Shirdi, seeing which the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan has made adequate arrangements for the devotees i.e., for Boarding / Lodging a new Bhakt Niwas – “Dwaravati” has been opened and for Food / Drinks for the devotees a new bigger Sai Prasadalaya has also been started. The Sansthan also has made very tight security arrangements for which around 80 metal detectors and more than 30 CCTV cameras have been placed in the entire Temple premises and at every entry point. According to Shri.Jayant Sasane of Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan all arrangements have been made to make sure that each devotee gets a chance to do darshan. And due to security, all exits or outlets will be kept open but only one entry or inlet will be open for the devotees to go in.
