REMEMBER...TIME CHANGE THIS COMING SUNDAY

From the Shepherd’s Shop‹ Shop‹ by Pastor Keith Felton

At our Annual Deacons Retreat this past Saturday, the ministerial staff presented a comprehensive proposal to revitalize our church campus over the next few years. We had a very positive and healthy conversation regarding the future of our church and where we would like to update our existing facilities. At the end of the day, the Deacon body put forward their collective affirmation on the proposal. They encouraged us as a staff to move forward in relating to the different ministry committees who would oversee the details of the plan and they would then put forth their recommendation to our Stewardship Committee. Ultimately, the ‘FBC

REVITALIZATION PLAN’ will come before the church for approval and I’m hopeful we can begin seeing the fruits of this plan possibly

by early summer. Very soon, I will be setting up meetings for the ministry committees that will be involved and look forward to a high level of participation. As the details of the plan progresses through the committees and the church, it will become very evident that every part of this plan stems from the church-wide strategic planning process of a couple of years ago which most of know as ‘Together We Grow.’ I know now that all of that planning from a couple of years ago was God’s way of preparing us for moving forward in 2009. If and when the ‘FBC REVITALIZATION PLAN’ becomes approved, I am going to be requesting all of us begin praying about a financial pledge over a twelve month period to secure payment for the various projects within the FIRST PHASE of the plan. If then all goes according to plan, we would do the same for the SECOND PHASE of the plan for the second year and the THIRD PHASE for the third year. I believe if we proceed in this manner, we will not get in over our heads and be able to go forward with confidence as we bring about much needed revitalization of our facilities. What an exciting time to be a part of First Baptist Church— Mission Trip to Nicaragua, Awesome Children’s Choirs, Potential Plan to revitalize our facilities, New Student Bible Study on Sunday evenings, record participation in music ministries, steady offerings for 2009, Visitors on Wednesdays and Sundays, creative & intergenerational worship, consistent reaching out to folks in need in our community, Circle Up Sunday, Easter Pageant & Holy Week Services, New Members [SPEAKING OF NEW MEMBERS – WE ARE THRILLED TO WELCOME MARTY WILSON TO OUR

(cont’d) FAMILY OF FAITH!!!] – We have a lot to be thankful for AND a lot to be responsible for!!! Keep up the good work!

Last Sunday our Children’s Choirs led us in worship, and it was a day to remember. I'm always so inspired to see and hear the children of our church From and community leading us in the worship of God. Training the youngest among us in the John language of worship is one of our most important tasks as a church, and we are privileged to touch each of their lives each week. As you drop your offering in the plate each Sunday, you are giving to the future faith of these children. As I move from group to group each Wednesday, I am constantly reminded of the eternal investment we are making in the lives of some of Christ's youngest followers.

Notes

All over the world, Christians slow down during the week before Easter and remember Christ's journey to the cross. This week of reverence, called holy week by many, will be a time when our church will celebrate Christ's gift to us and find our place in the Easter story. The Easter Pageant will be a huge part of this week, along with many other services and events, so keep your eyes out for schedules of our holy week celebration, "Hope Lives."
