Month of Sha’ban The Holy Prophet (saws) used to say, “Sha`ban is my month; hence, Paradise will be incumbently decided for him who observe fasting on one day of my month.” Imam Ali (a.s) has said, ‘For one who observes fasting in Sha`ban on account of love for the Messenger of Allah (a.s) and seeking nearness to Allah (swt), Allah (swt) will love him and will draw him near to His honor on the Resurrection Day and will decide Paradise for him incumbently.’ Imam Ali Reza (as) has said, “Whoever fasts one day of Shaban, just for the sake of God’s reward he will enter the heaven and whoever repents to Allah seventy times, on the Day of Judgment he will be raised with the Prophet and God’s appreciation will be obligatory on him. Whoever donates in this month even by half of a date, God will forbid his body to go to hell. Whoever fasts three days of Shaban and connects these days to the month of Ramadan, God will give him the reward for the two complete months.”

General Acts in Sha`ban It is also recommended to observe fasting on Thursdays in Sha`ban. In this respect, a °ad¢th reads that the heavens decorate themselves each Thursday in Sha`ban and the angels pray Allah (swt), saying, “O our God: (please do) forgive him who observe fasting on this day and respond to his prayers.” The Holy Prophet (a.s) is also reported as saying, “If one observe fasting each Monday and Thursday in Sha`ban, Allah (swt) will settle forty of his needs—20 related to the worldly life and 20 to the Hereafter.” It is highly recommended to send plenty of salutations (recite salawat) upon the Holy Prophet and his Household in the month of Sha’ban. O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad ٍ‫اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ and the Household of Muhammad.

It is recommended to recite the following prayer of seeking forgiveness 70 times each day in Sha`ban: I seek the forgiveness of ُ‫َأسْ َتغْفِرُ ال ّلهَ وَأَسْأَُله‬ Allah and I pray Him for approval of my .َ‫التَّ ْوَبة‬ repentance. It is recommended to recite the following prayer of seeking forgiveness 70 times each day in Sha`ban: I seek forgiveness of Allah, there is no god save Whom, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful, the Ever-living, the Everlasting and to Him I turn repentant.

َ‫َأسْ َتغْفِرُ ال ّلهَ الَّذِي ال إله‬ َ‫إالَّ ُهو‬ ُ‫الرَّحْمنُ الرَّحِيم‬ ُ‫الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوْم‬ .ِ‫وَأَتُوبُ إلَ ْيه‬

According to narrations, the best supplications in the month of Sha`ban are the prayers of seeking forgiveness of Allah (swt) (i.e. istighfar). Hence, to seek Allah (swt)’s forgiveness 70 times a day in Sha`ban is equal to seeking His forgiveness 70,000 times a day in the other months.

It is recommended to give alms in this month even if it is as small as a half date. It is recommended to repeat the following invocation 1000 times in Sha`ban: There is no god save ،ُ‫ال إلهَ إالَّ ال ّله‬ Allah; and we serve none save ُ‫وَال َنعْبُدُ إالَّ إيَّاه‬ Him, being sincere to Him in َ‫خلِصِينَ َلهُ الدِّين‬ ْ ُ‫م‬ obedience, Though the unbelievers .َ‫وََلوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُون‬ are averse. The reward of him who recites this is as if it he has served (Allah (swt) for 1000 years.

Thursday Salaah in the month of Sha’ban It is recommended to offer a two Rak`ah prayer each Thursday in Sha`ban. In each Rak`ah, it is recommended to recite S£rah of al-Fati¦ah once followed by S£rah Tawhid 100 times. After salaam, recite 100 times; O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad ٍ‫اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ and the Household of Muhammad.

1st of Sha’ban Recite 12 rakaats, with the recitation of the Chapter of Ikhlas 11 times after the recitation of the Chapter on Al-Hamd. It is a day of great excellence and it has been reported from Ja’far Sadiq (as) that whoever fasts on that day is assured of Heaven. Seyyid ibn Tawoos has reported from the Holy Messenger (saw) that a person who fasts on the first three days of this month and on their eve recites 2 rakaats in each of which he recites after the Chapter on Al-Hamd, the Chapter on Ikhlas 11 times will be greatly rewarded.

Daily Salwaat It is reported through authentic sources that Imam Zainul Abideen (as) used to recite the following Salawat every day in Sha`ban at the time sun passes the merdian (waqt-e-Zawal) and on the night of 15 th Sha`ban. The salawat is as under & confirms the exhalted position of the Ahlulbayt O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad— the tree of Prophethood; and the trustees of the (Divine) Mission; and the frequently visited by the angels; and the core of knowledge; and the Household of the Divine Revelation. O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Family of Muhammad— the sailing ships through the abysmal waves. He who embarks on will be saved but he who abandons will be drowned. He who precedes them will miss the Right Path and he misses them will lose, but he who adheres to them will win. O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad—

ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬ ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ ،ِ‫شَجَرَةِ النُّبُوَّة‬ ،ِ‫ضعِ الرِِّسَاَلة‬ ِ ‫َومَو‬ ،ِ‫كة‬ َ ِ‫َومُخْ َتلَفِ الْمَالئ‬ ،ِ‫َو َمعْدِنِ اْلعِلْم‬ .ِ‫وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِ اْلوَحْي‬ ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬ ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ ِ‫الْ ُفلْكِ الْجَارَِيةِ فِي اللُّجَج‬ ،ِ‫اْلغَامِرَة‬ ،‫يَ ْأ َمنُ َمنْ رَكِبَهَا‬ ،‫وََيغْرَقُ َمنْ تَرَكَهَا‬ ،ٌ‫الْمُتَقَدِّمُ لَهُمْ مَارِق‬ ،ٌ‫وَالْمُتَأَخِّرُ عَنْهُمْ زَاهِق‬ .ٌ‫وَالالزِمُ لَهُمْ الحِق‬ ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬

ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ the impregnable shelter; and the succorers of the helpless, distressed ones; and the haven of the fugitives; and the asylum of those who seek refuge. O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad so much blessings that please them and settle all (our) duties towards Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad by Your might and power; O the Lord of the worlds.

،ِ‫الْكَهْفِ الْحَصِين‬ ِّ‫وَغِيَاثِ الْمُضْطَر‬ ،ِ‫الْمُسْتَكِين‬ ،َ‫َو َملْجَاَ الْهَا ِربِين‬ .َ‫وَعِصْ َمةِ الْ ُمعْتَصِمِين‬ ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬ ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ ْ‫صَالةً كَثِيرَةً تَكُونُ لَهُم‬ ،ً‫رِضا‬ ٍ‫وَلِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ ً‫أَدَاءً وَقَضَاء‬ َّ‫حوْلٍ مِنْكَ وَقُوَّةٍ يَا رَب‬ َ ِ‫ب‬ .َ‫اْلعَالَمِين‬

O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad—

ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬

the pure, the pious, the righteous

،ِ‫ألبْرَارِ األَخْيَار‬ َ ‫الطَّيِّبِينَ ا‬

whose rights have been made incumbent upon us by You and the obedience to whom has been deemed obligatory upon us by You and whose (divinely commissioned) leadership has been (also) deemed obligatory upon us by You.

،ْ‫الَّذِينَ أَوْجَبْتَ حُقُوقَهُم‬

ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬

ْ‫وَفَرَضْتَ طَاعَتَهُم‬ .ْ‫وَوِاليَتَهُم‬

O Allah: (please do) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad;

ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬

and fill in my heart with the obedience to You; and do not disgrace me by acts of disobedience to You; and grant me the feeling of sympathy towards those whom You have decided to straighten their sustenance

،َ‫وَاعْمُرْ َقلْبِي بِطَاعَتِك‬

by means of Your favors that You have decided to make expansive for me and by means of that with which You have covered me out of Your fairness; and make me live under Your shade. This is the month of Your Prophet and the Master of Your Messengers. It is Sha`ban, which You have encompassed with Your mercy and pleasure, and on which the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him and his Family—used to observe fasting painstakingly and used to spend it with acts of worship on all of its days and night on account of Your honoring and dignifying this month, up to his death.

ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ ،َ‫وَال تُخْ ِزنِي بِ َمعْصِيَتِك‬ ْ‫وَا ْرزُقْنِي ُموَاسَاةَ َمن‬ َ‫قَتَّرْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ ِمنْ ِرزْقِك‬ ْ‫بِمَا وَسَّعْتَ َعلَيَّ ِمن‬ ،َ‫ضلِك‬ ْ َ‫ف‬ ،َ‫َونَشَرْتَ َعلَيَّ ِمنْ عَدْلِك‬ ،َ‫وَأَحْيَيْتَنِي تَحْتَ ظِلِّك‬ ِ‫وَهذَا شَهْرُ نَبِيِّكَ سَيِّد‬ َ‫سلِك‬ ُ ُ‫ر‬ ُ‫شعْبَانُ الَّذِي حَفَفْ َته‬ َ ِ‫ضوَان‬ ْ ِّ‫مِنْكَ بِالرَّحْ َمةِ وَالر‬ ِ‫الَّذِي كَانَ َرسُولُ ال ّله‬ ِ‫صَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَ ْيهِ وَآِله‬ ِ‫َوسَلَّمَ يَدْأَبُ فِي صِيَا ِمه‬ ِ‫وَقِيَامِه‬ ِ‫فِي لَيَالِيهِ وَأَيَّامِه‬ ِ‫بُخُوعاً لَكَ فِي إكْرَا ِمه‬ ِّ‫وَإعْظَا ِمهِ إلَى مَحَل‬

.ِ‫حِمَا ِمه‬ O Allah: (please do) help us follow the example of him (i.e. the Holy Prophet as regards the honoring of this month) and help us attain nearness to him. O Allah: (please do) decide him as my interceder (before You) whose intercession for me is acceptable and as my clear path toward You; and make me follow him until I meet You on the Resurrection Day enjoying Your pleasure with me and Your overlooking my sins and thus You will confer upon me with Your mercy and pleasure and allow me to reside in the Eternal Abode and the Place of the Righteous.

‫اللّهُمَّ فَأَعِنَّا عَلَى‬ ،ِ‫اإلسْتِنَانِ بِسُنَّ ِتهِ فِيه‬ .ِ‫َونَيْلِ الشَّفَا َعةِ لَدَْيه‬ ً‫ج َع ْلهُ لِي شَفِيعا‬ ْ ‫اللّهُمَّ وَا‬ ،ً‫مُشَفَّعا‬ ،ً‫وَطَرِيقاً إلَيْكَ مَهْيَعا‬ ‫ج َعلْنِي َلهُ مُتَّبِعاً حَتَّى‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ ‫أَلْقَاكَ َيوْمَ الْقِيَا َمةِ عَنِّي‬ ،ً‫رَاضِيا‬ ،ً‫وَ َعنْ ُذنُوبِي غَاضِيا‬ َ‫قَدْ أَوْجَبْتَ لِي مِنْك‬ ،َ‫ضوَان‬ ْ ِّ‫الرَّحْ َمةَ وَالر‬ ِ‫وََأنْزَلْتَنِي دَارَ الْقَرَار‬ .ِ‫َومَحَلِّ األَخْيَار‬

Al-Munajat al-Sha`baniyyah It is recommended to recite the following munajat that has been narrated by Ibn Khalawayh who commented on it, saying, “This is the confidential prayer of Imam `Al¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n and the Holy Imams, his descendants, (a.s) who used to utter it in the month of Sha`ban.” O Allah: (please do) send ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬ blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ Mu¦ammad; and listen to my prayer whenever I pray You; and listen to my call whenever I call upon you; and accept from me whenever I confidentially whisper to You, for here I am fleeing into You, and I am standing before You showing submission to You, imploring You, hoping for the reward that You have. And You do know what is in my inner self; and You understand my needs; and You recognize my essence; and all my moves and stillness are known by You; and so are all the utterance which I want to begin with

‫وَاسْ َمعْ دُعَائِي إذَا‬ ،َ‫دَ َعوْتُك‬ ،َ‫وَاسْ َمعْ نِدَائِي إذَا نَادَيْتُك‬ َ‫وَأَقْبِلْ عَلَيَّ إذَا نَاجَيْتُك‬ ،َ‫فَقَدْ هَ َربْتُ إلَيْك‬ َ‫وَوَقَفْتُ بَ ْينَ يَدَيْك‬ ،َ‫مُسْتَكِيناً لَك‬ ،َ‫مُتَضَرِّعاً إلَيْك‬ ،‫رَاجِياً لِمَا لَدَيْكَ َثوَابِي‬ ،‫وََت ْعلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي‬ ،‫وَتَخْبُرُ حَاجَتِي‬ ،‫وََتعْرِفُ ضَمِيرِي‬ ُ‫وَال يَخْفَى َعلَيْكَ َأمْر‬ ،َ‫مُنْ َقلَبِي َومَ ْثوَاي‬ ْ‫دئَ ِبهِ ِمن‬ ِ ْ‫َومَا ُأرِيدُ أَنْ ُأب‬

،‫مَنْطِقِي‬ and all the requests that I want to express and all the expectation that I hope for my future. All that which You, O my Master, have decided for me

up to the end of my life, including my secret and open matters, shall be experienced by me. And it is in Your, not anybody else, Hand are all increase and decrease, and my benefits and harms that come upon me. O my God: If You deprive me (of Your sustenance), then who else can ever provide me with sustenance? And if You disappoint me, then who else can ever back me? O my God: I do seek Your protection against Your wrath and against the befalling of Your ire upon me. O my God: If I do not deserve Your mercy, You are still expected to confer upon me with Your expansive favor.

،‫وَأَتَفَوَّهَ ِبهِ ِمنْ َطلِبَتِي‬ ،‫وََأرْجُوهُ ِلعَاقِبَتِي‬ َّ‫وَقَدْ جَرَتْ مَقَادِيرُكَ َعلَي‬ ‫يَا سَيِّدِي‬ ِ‫فِيمَا يَكُونُ مِنِّي إلَى آخِر‬ ‫عُمْرِي‬ ‫ِمنْ سَرِيرَتِي وَعَالنِيَتِي‬ َ‫َوبِيَدِكَ ال بِيَدِ غَيْرِك‬ ‫زِيَادَتِي َونَقْصِي‬ .‫َونَ ْفعِي وَضَرِّي‬ ‫إلهِي إنْ حَ َرمْتَنِي فَ َمنْ ذَا‬ ‫الَّذِي يَ ْرزُقُنِي؟‬ ‫وَإنْ خَذَلْتَنِي فَ َمنْ ذَا الَّذِي‬ ‫يَنْصُ ُرنِي؟‬ ْ‫إلهِي أَعُوذُ بِكَ ِمن‬ .َ‫حلُولِ سَخَطِك‬ ُ َ‫غَضَبِكَ و‬ َ‫إلهِي إنْ كُنْتُ غَيْر‬ َ‫مُسْتَأْهِلٍ لِرَحْمَتِك‬ َّ‫فَ َأنْتَ أَهْلٌ أَنْ تَجُودَ َعلَي‬ .َ‫سعَتِك‬ َ ِ‫بِفَضْل‬

O my God: I now imagine how I will stand before You

ٌ‫إلهِي كَأَنِّي بِنَفْسِي وَاقِ َفة‬ َ‫بَ ْينَ يَدَيْك‬

shaded by my good idea about You on account of my trust in You,

‫سنُ َتوَكُّلِي‬ ْ ُ‫وَقَدْ أَظَلَّهَا ح‬

and You will decide for me that which befit You and You will include me with Your forgiveness.

ُ‫فَ ُقلْتَ مَا َأنْتَ أَ ْه ُله‬

َ‫َعلَيْك‬ .َ‫وََتغَمَّدْتَنِي ِبعَ ْفوِك‬

O my God: If you pardon me, then who else is worthier than You are in pardoning.

‫إلهِي إنْ عَ َفوْتَ فَ َمنْ أَوْلَى‬

And if my time of death is approaching while my deeds are still too short to approach me to You,

ْ‫وَإنْ كَانَ قَدْ َدنَا أَجَلِي وَلَم‬

I am then considering my confession of being guilty to be my means towards You.

ِ‫ج َعلْتُ اإلقْرَارَ بِالذَّنْب‬ َ ْ‫فَقَد‬

O my God: I have wronged myself when I allowed myself to behave unrestrainedly; therefore, woe will betide myself if You do not forgive.

‫مِنْكَ بِذلِكَ؟‬ ‫دنِنِي مِنْكَ عَ َملِي‬ ْ ُ‫ي‬ ‫إلَيْكَ َوسِيلَتِي‬ ‫إلهِي قَدْ جُرْتُ عَلَى‬ ‫نَفْسِي فِي النَّظَرِ لَهَا‬ .‫َفلَهَا اْلوَيْلُ إنْ لَمْ َتغْفِرْ لَهَا‬

O my God: You have never ceased Your favors from me all over my lifetime;

َّ‫إلهِي لَمْ يَزَلْ بِرُّكَ َعلَي‬

so, (please) do not stop Your favors from covering me after my death.

‫طعْ بِرَّكَ عَنِّي فِي‬ َ ْ‫فَال تَق‬

O my God: How can I despair of Your nice custody over me after my death

ْ‫إلهِي كَيفَ آيَسُ مِن‬

‫أَيَّامَ حَيَاتِي‬ .‫مَمَاتِي‬ َ‫سنِ نَظَرِكَ لِي َبعْد‬ ْ ُ‫ح‬

‫مَمَاتِي‬ while You have not shown me but the good throughout my lifetime? O my God: (please) manage my affairs in the very way that befits You; and confer upon me—a sinful who is covered by his ignorance—with Your favors. O my God: You have concealed my sins in my worldly life, but I need Your concealment more urgently in the Next Life. You have thus not disclosed my sins before any of Your righteous servants; therefore, (please) do not expose me on the Resurrection Day before all the witnesses. O my God: It is Your magnanimity that expanded my hope; and surely Your pardon is more preferable than my deeds. O my God: so (please) delight me when I meet You on the day when You shall judge between Your servants. O my God: I submit to You the apology of him who cannot dispense with the

َ‫وََأنْتَ لَمْ ُتوَلِّنِي إالَّ الْجَمِيل‬ .‫فِي حَيَاتِي‬ ‫إلهِي َتوَلَّ ِمنْ َأمْرِي مَا‬ ،ُ‫َأنْتَ أَ ْه ُله‬ ‫ضلِكَ َعلَى‬ ْ َ‫وَعُدْ َعلَيَّ بِف‬ .ُ‫ذنِبٍ قَدْ غَمَرَهُ جَ ْه ُله‬ ْ ُ‫م‬ ً‫إلهِي قَدْ سَتَرْتَ َعلَيَّ ُذنُوبا‬ ‫فِي الدُّنْيَا‬ ‫ح َوجُ إلَى سَتْرِهَا‬ ْ َ‫وََأنَا أ‬ ‫َعلَيَّ مِنْكَ فِي األُخْرَى‬ ْ‫إذْ لَمْ تُظْهِرْهَا ألحَدٍ ِمن‬ َ‫عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِين‬ ِ‫فَال تَفْضَحْنِي َيوْمَ الْقِيَا َمة‬ .ِ‫ألشْهَاد‬ َ ‫َعلَى رُؤُوسِ ا‬ ،‫سطَ َأ َملِي‬ َ َ‫إلهِي جُودُكَ ب‬ .‫وَعَ ْفوُكَ أَفْضَلُ ِمنْ عَ َملِي‬ َ‫إلهِي فَسُرَّنِي ِبلِقَائِكَ َيوْم‬ .َ‫تَقْضِي فِيهِ بَ ْينَ عِبَادِك‬ َ‫إلهِي اعْتِذَارِي إلَيْك‬

acceptance of his excuse;

ْ‫اعْتِذَارُ َمنْ لَمْ يَسْ َت ْغنِ َعن‬ ِ‫ذرِه‬ ْ ُ‫قَبُولِ ع‬

so, (please) accept my excuse, O the most Magnanimous of all those before whom the guilty make an apology. O my God: (please) do not reject my request; and do not fail my big hope for You; and do not disappoint my desire and expectation for You. O my God: Had You wanted to humiliate me, You would not have guided me (to You); and had You decided to disclose me, You would not have saved me. O my God: I do not expect You to reject my request that I spent my whole lifetime asking for it from You. O my God: all praise be to You, forever, forever, perpetually, everlastingly, increasingly, and unperishingly, as exactly as You like and please.

ِ‫ذرِي يَا أَكْرَمَ َمن‬ ْ ُ‫فَاقْبَلْ ع‬ .َ‫ذرَ إلَ ْيهِ الْمُسِيئُون‬ َ َ‫اعْت‬ ،‫إلهِي ال تَرُدَّ حَاجَتِي‬ ،‫وَال تُخَيِّبْ طَ َمعِي‬ ‫طعْ مِنْكَ رَجَائِي‬ َ ْ‫وَال تَق‬ .‫وََأ َملِي‬ ْ‫إلهِي َلوْ َأرَدْتَ َهوَانِي لَم‬ ،‫دنِي‬ ِ ْ‫تَه‬ ْ‫وََلوْ َأرَدْتَ فَضِيحَتِي لَم‬ .‫ُتعَافِنِي‬ ‫إلهِي مَا أَظُنُّكَ تَرُدُّنِي فِي‬ ‫جةٍ قَدْ أَفْنَيْتُ عُمْرِي‬ َ ‫حَا‬ .َ‫فِي َطلَبِهَا مِنْك‬ ً‫إلهِي َفلَكَ الْحَمْدُ َأبَداً َأبَدا‬ ً‫دَائِماً سَ ْرمَدا‬ ُّ‫يَزِيدُ وَال يَبِيدُ كَمَا تُحِب‬ .‫وَتَرْضَى‬

O my God: If You punish me for my offense, I shall demand with Your pardon;

‫إلهِي إنْ أَخَذْتَنِي بِجُ ْرمِي‬

and if You punish me for my

‫ذنُوبِي‬ ُ ِ‫وَإنْ أَخَذْتَنِي ب‬

،َ‫أَخَذْتُكَ ِبعَ ْفوِك‬

sins, I shall demand with Your forgiveness; and if You decide to put me in Hell, I shall declare to its inhabitants that I love You.

،َ‫أَخَذْتُكَ بِمَغْفِرَتِك‬ ُ‫خلْتَنِي النَّارَ أَ ْعلَمْت‬ َ ْ‫وَإنْ أَد‬ .َ‫أَ ْهلَهَا أَنِّي أُحِبُّك‬

O my God: If my deed is too little when compared to the true obedience to You,

‫صغُرَ فِي‬ َ َ‫إلهِي إنْ كَان‬

then my hope for You is too big when compared to my prospect from You.

َ‫فَقَدْ كَبُرَ فِي جَنْبِ رَجَائِك‬

O my God: How can it be that I return from You with disappointment and deprivation while I expect, depending upon Your magnanimity, that You will endow me with safety and mercy? O my God: I have spent my whole life with the vigor of being negligent to You and I have spent my whole youth with the inebriety of being far away from You. O my God: I have not thus woken up to myself during the period when I seductively felt safe from Your punishment and when I was taking the path that ends with Your ire. O my God: Nevertheless, I am—Your servant and the son

‫جَنْبِ طَاعَتِكَ عَمَلِي‬ .‫َأ َملِي‬ ْ‫إلهِي كَيْفَ َأنْ َقلِبُ ِمن‬ ً‫عِنْدِكَ بِالْخَيْ َبةِ مَحْرُوما‬ ‫سنُ ظَنِّي‬ ْ ُ‫وَقَدْ كَانَ ح‬ ‫بِجُودِكَ أَنْ تَ ْقلِبَنِي‬ ‫بِالنَّجَاةِ مَرْحُوماً؟‬ ‫إلهِي وَقَدْ أَفْنَيْتُ عُمْرِي‬ ،َ‫فِي شِرَّةِ السَّ ْهوِ عَنْك‬ ِ‫وََأْبلَيْتُ شَبَابِي فِي سَكْرَة‬ .َ‫التَّبَاعُدِ مِنْك‬ َ‫إلهِي َفلَمْ َأسْتَيْ ِقظْ أَيَّام‬ ،َ‫اغْتِرَارِي بِك‬ ِ‫َورُكُونِي إلَى سَبِيل‬ .َ‫سَخَطِك‬ ُ‫إلهِي وََأنَا عَبْدُكَ وَاْبن‬

of Your servant—now standing before You and begging You in the name of Your generosity. O my God: I am, being Your servant, disowning all that with which I used to face You, namely my shameless inconsideration of You,

،َ‫عَبْدِكَ قَائِمٌ بَ ْينَ يَدَيْك‬ .َ‫مُ َتوَسِّلٌ بِكَ َرمِكَ إلَيْك‬ َ‫إلهِي َأنَا عَبْدٌ أَتَنَصَّلُ إلَيْك‬ ِ‫مِمَّا كُنْتُ أُوَاجِهُكَ بِه‬ ْ‫ِمنْ قِلَّةِ اسْتِحْيَائِي ِمن‬ ،َ‫نَظَرِك‬

and I am hereby appealing for Your pardon since pardon is the feature of Your generosity.

‫وَأَ ْطلُبُ اْلعَ ْفوَ مِنْكَ إذ‬

O my God: I had no strength by which I would rid myself of acts of disobedience to You

ٌ‫حوْل‬ َ ‫كنْ لِي‬ ُ َ‫إلهِي لَمْ ي‬

except after You aroused me to love You. Hence, I have become as exactly as You want me to be. I have thus thanked You for You have included me with Your generosity and You have purified my heart from the filths of being inattentive to You. O my God: (please) look at me in the same way as You have looked at him whom You called and he has responded to You, and upon whom You have conferred with Your aid and he thus has obeyed You.

.َ‫ِاْلعَ ْفوُ َنعْتٌ لِكَ َرمِك‬ َ‫فَ َأنْتَقِلَ ِبهِ َعنْ َمعْصِيَتِك‬ ‫إالَّ فِي وَقْتٍ أَيْقَظْتَنِي‬ ،َ‫لَِمحَبَّتِك‬ ُ‫وَكَمَا َأرَدْتَ أَنْ أَكُونَ كُنْت‬ ‫فَشَكَرْتُكَ بِإدْخَالِي فِي‬ ،َ‫كَ َرمِك‬ ِ‫وَلِتَطْهِيرِ َقلْبِي ِمنْ أَ ْوسَاخ‬ .َ‫اْلغَ ْف َلةِ عَنْك‬ ْ‫إلهِي انْظُرْ إلَيَّ نَظَرَ َمن‬ ،َ‫نَادَيْ َتهُ فَأَجَابَك‬ َ‫وَاسْ َتعْ َملْ َتهُ بِ َمعُونَتِك‬ ،َ‫فَأَطَاعَك‬

O He Who is too close to depart from him who is inadvertent to Him.

ِ‫يَا قَرِيباً ال يَبْعُدُ َعن‬ ،ِ‫الْ ُمغْتَرِّ ِبه‬

O He Who is too magnanimous to deprive him who hopes for His reward.

ْ‫جوَاداً ال يَبْخَلُ عَمَّن‬ َ ‫وَيَا‬

O my God: (please) grant me heart whose longing for You will approach it to You;

ِ‫دنِيه‬ ْ ُ‫إلهِي هَبْ لِي َقلْباً ي‬

and grant me tongue whose truthfulness is directed to You; and sight whose righteousness advances towards You. O my God: Verily, he who recognizes You shall never be anonymous; and he who seeks Your shelter shall never be disappointed; and he whom is attended by You shall never be boring. O my God: Verily, he who abides by Your Path shall be enlightened; and he who resorts to You shall be succored. I am thus having recourse to You, O my God; so, (please) do not disappoint me as regard Your having mercy upon me; and do not divest me of Your kindness.

.ُ‫رَجَا َثوَاَبه‬ ،ُ‫شوْ ُقه‬ َ َ‫مِنْك‬ ،ُ‫وَلِسَاناً يُرْ َفعُ إلَيْكَ صِدْ ُقه‬ .ُ‫َونَظَراً يُقَرُِّبهُ مِنْكَ حَقُّه‬ َ‫إلهِي إنَّ َمنْ َتعَرَّفَ بِك‬ ،ٍ‫غَيْرُ مَجْهُول‬ ،ٍ‫َو َمنْ الذَ بِكَ غَيْرُ مَخْذُول‬ ُ‫َو َمنْ أَقْ َبلْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ غَيْر‬ .ٍ‫مَ ْملُول‬ َ‫إلهِي إنَّ َمنِ انْتَهَجَ بِك‬ ،ٌ‫لَمُسْتَنِير‬ َ‫وَإنَّ َمنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِك‬ ،ٌ‫لَمُسْتَجِير‬ ‫وَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِكَ يَا إلهِي فَال‬ ،َ‫تُخَيِّبْ ظَنِّي ِمنْ رَحْمَتِك‬ .َ‫وَال تَحْجُبْنِي َعنْ رَأْفَتِك‬

O my God: grant me, among those who show servitude to You,

ِ‫إلهِي أَقِمْنِي فِي أَهْل‬

the position of him who (incessantly) longs for more love for You.

ْ‫مُقَامَ َمنْ رَجَا الزِّيَادَةَ ِمن‬

O my God: (please) inspire me with passionate love for ceaseless reference to You;

ً‫إلهِي وَأَلْهِمْنِي وَلَها‬

and (please) devote all my pursuit to my attaining the delight of the success that is achieved through Your Names and the standing of Your Holiness. O my God: I adjure You by You that You put me in the position of those who are obedient to You and in an honorable standing of Your pleasure, for I, verily, have no power to rescue or to benefit myself. O my God: I am Your servant—the feeble and the guilty—

َ‫وِاليَتِك‬ .َ‫مَحَبَّتِك‬ ،َ‫بِذِكْرِكَ إلَى ذِكْرِك‬ ِ‫وَهِمَّتِي فِي رَ ْوحِ نَجَاح‬ .َ‫َأسْمَائِكَ َومَحَلِّ قُدْسِك‬ َّ‫إلهِي بِكَ َعلَيْكَ إال‬ ِ‫أَلْحَقْتَنِي بِمَحَلِّ أَهْل‬ ،َ‫طَاعَتِك‬ ْ‫وَالْمَ ْثوَى الصَّالِحِ ِمن‬ ،َ‫مَرْضَاتِك‬ ،ً‫درُ لِنَفْسِي دَفْعا‬ ِ ْ‫فَإنِّي ال أَق‬ .ً‫وَال َأ ْملِكُ لَهَا نَفْعا‬ ُ‫إلهِي َأنَا عَبْدُكَ الضَّعِيف‬ ،ُ‫ذنِب‬ ْ ُ‫الْم‬ ‫َومَ ْملُوكُكَ الْمُنِيبُ فَال‬

and Your slave—the penitent. So, (please) do not include me with those from whom You have turned Your face

ُ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّنْ صَرَفْتَ عَ ْنه‬ ْ َ‫ت‬

or with those whom are deprived of Your pardon

.َ‫وَحَجَ َبهُ سَ ْهوُهُ َعنْ عَ ْفوِك‬

،َ‫وَجْهَك‬

because of their inattentiveness to You. O my God: (please) grant me absolute devotion to You; and illuminate the sights of our hearts with the light of their observing of You

َ‫إلهِي هَبْ لي كَمَال‬ ،َ‫اإلنْقِطَاعِ إلَيْك‬ ِ‫وََأنِرْ َأبْصَارَ ُقلُوبِنَا بِضِيَاء‬ ،َ‫نَظَرِهَا إلَيْك‬

so that the sights of the hearts will penetrate the Screens of Light

ِ‫حَتَّى تَخْرِقَ َأبْصَارُ الْ ُقلُوب‬

and arrive at the Core of Magnificence

،ِ‫فَتَصِلَ إلَى َمعْدِنِ الْعَظَ َمة‬

and that our souls hang to the Majesty of Your Holiness. O my God: (please) make me of those who responded to You when You call at them and those who were shocked for Your Majesty when You observe them; and You have thus taken into their confidence and they acted for You openly. O my God: I have shaded neither despair nor gloom over my good idea about You; and I have never lost hope in Your excellent magnanimity. O my God: if my sins have overthrown me in Your sight,

ِ‫حُجُبَ النُّور‬ ِّ‫وَتَصِيرَ َأرْوَاحُنَا ُمعَلَّ َقةً ِبعِز‬ .َ‫دسِك‬ ْ ُ‫ق‬ ْ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّن‬ ْ ‫إلهِي وَا‬ ،َ‫نَادَيْ َتهُ فَأَجَابَك‬ ،َ‫صعِقَ لِجَاللِك‬ َ َ‫وَالحَظْ َتهُ ف‬ َ‫فَنَاجَيْ َتهُ سِرّاً وَعَمِلَ لَك‬ .ً‫جَهْرا‬ ِ‫سن‬ ْ ُ‫إلهِي لَمْ ُأسَلِّطْ عَلَى ح‬ ،ِ‫ظَنِّي قُنُوطَ األَيَاس‬ ْ‫طعَ رَجَائِي ِمن‬ َ َ‫وَال انْق‬ .َ‫جَمِيلِ كَ َرمِك‬ ْ‫إلهِي إنْ كَانَتِ الْخَطَايَا قَد‬ َ‫َأسْقَطَتْنِي لَدَيْك‬

then please pardon me for my excellent trust in You.

ِ‫سن‬ ْ ُ‫فَاصْفَحْ عَنِّي بِح‬ .َ‫َتوَكُّلِي َعلَيْك‬

O my God: if my wrongdoings have caused me to lose Your honorable kindness,

ُ‫إلهِي إنْ حَطَّتْنِي الذُّنُوب‬

then my belief in You have called my attention to the generosity of Your sympathy.

‫فَقَدْ نَبَّهَنِي الْيَقِينُ إلَى‬

O my God: if my inadvertence has screened me against readying myself for meeting You,

ُ‫إلهِي إنْ َأنَامَتْنِي اْلغَ ْف َلة‬

then my recognition of the generosity of Your bounties has awakened me. O my God: if Your grave chastisement has drawn me to Hellfire, then Your opulent reward has drawn me to Paradise.

َ‫ِمنْ مَكَارِمِ لُطْفِك‬ .َ‫كَرَمِ عَطْفِك‬ َ‫َعنِ اإلسْ ِتعْدَادِ ِللِقَائِك‬ ِ‫فَقَدْ نَبَّهَتْنِي الْ َمعْرِ َفةُ بِكَرَم‬ .َ‫آالئِك‬ ِ‫إلهِي إنْ دَعَانِي إلَى النَّار‬ َ‫عَظِيمُ عِقَابِك‬ ِ‫فَقَدْ دَعَانِي إلَى الْجَنَّة‬ .َ‫جَزِيلُ َثوَابِك‬

O my God: You alone do I pray and You alone do I implore and desire.

َ‫إلهِي َفلَكَ أَسْأَلُ وَإلَيْك‬

And I beseech You to bless Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad

‫وَأَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ َعلَى‬

and to include me with those who always mention You, who never breach their covenant to You,

،ُ‫َأبْتَهِلُ وَأَرْغَب‬ ٍ‫مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ ُ‫ج َعلَنِي مِمَّنْ يُدِيم‬ ْ َ‫وَأَنْ ت‬ ،َ‫ذِكْرَك‬ ،َ‫وَال يَنْقُضُ عَهْدَك‬

who never fail to thank You,

،َ‫وَال َيغْفُلُ َعنْ شُكْرِك‬

and who never belittle Your Affairs.

.َ‫وَال يَسْتَخِفُّ بِ َأمْرِك‬

O my God: (please do) take in me with the most brilliant Light of Your Dignity so that I will recognize You and I will leave everybody else and that I will be fearful of and careful with You; O the Lord of Majesty and Honor. May Allah send blessings upon Mu¦ammad, His Messenger, and upon his Household, the Infallible, andexalt them very much.

َ‫إلهِي وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِنُورِ عِزِّك‬ ِ‫ألبْهَج‬ َ‫ا‬ ،ً‫فَأَكُونَ لَكَ عَارِفا‬ ،ً‫سوَاكَ مُنْحَرِفا‬ ِ ْ‫وَ َعن‬ ،ً‫َومِنْكَ خَائِفاً مُرَاقِبا‬ ،ِ‫يَا ذَا الْجَاللِ وَاإلكْرَام‬ ٍ‫وَصَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَى مُحَمَّد‬ َ‫َرسُوِلهِ وَآِلهِ الطَّاهِرِين‬ .ً‫سلِيماً كَثِيرا‬ ْ َ‫َوسَلَّمَ ت‬

1st Night of Sha`ban Recite a 12 Rak`ah prayer in each Rak`ah of which the S£rah of al-Fati¦ah is recited once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d is repeated 11 times.

1 st Day of Sha`ban

Fasting on the 1st day of Sha’ban has great rewards. Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s) is reported as saying, “Paradise will be incumbently decided for him who observe fasting on the first day of Sha`ban.” Sayyid Ibn ±aw£s has narrated on the authority of the Holy Prophet (a.s) that an abundant reward will be conferred to him who observes fasting on the first three days in Sha`ban and on their eve recites a two Rak`ah prayer In each Rak`ah of this prayer, one should recite the S£rah of al-Fati¦ah once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d 11 times.

3 r d of Sha`ban Imam Husain (a.s) was born on the 3rd of Sha`ban. Abu’l-Qasim ibn `Ala’ al-Hamadaniy, the representative of Imam al-°asan al`Askariy (a.s), received a document saying that our master, Imam al-°usayn ibn `Al¢ (a.s), was born on the third of Sha`ban; therefore, you should observe fasting on this day and recite the following supplication: O Allah: I beseech You in the name of the one born on this day

ِّ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي َأسْأَلُكَ بِحَق‬

the promised with martyrdom before the beginning of his life and before his birth,

َ‫الْ َموْعُودِ بِشَهَادَِتهِ قَبْل‬

the heavens and all their inhabitants wept for him; and so did the earth and those living one it;

،‫بَكَ ْتهُ السَّمَاءُ َو َمنْ فِيهَا‬

before his feet stepped on it; the mourned slain one;

ِ‫الْ َموْلُودِ فِي هذَا الْ َيوْم‬ ،ِ‫اسْتِهْالِلهِ وَوِالدَِته‬ ،‫ألرْضُ َو َمنْ َعلَيْهَا‬ َ ‫وَا‬ ،‫وَلَمَّا يَطَأْ البَتَيْهَا‬ ،ِ‫قَتِيلِ اْلعَبْرَة‬

and the master of the Family (of Prophethood);

،ِ‫ألسْرَة‬ ُ ‫َوسَيِّدِ ا‬

and the one who shall be backed with victory on the Day of Return;

َ‫الْمَمْدُودِ بِالنُّصْرَةِ َيوْم‬

the one whom has been awarded with the favor of the Imams’ being from his offspring as recompensation of his being slain; and the one awarded with the favor of the soil of his grave carrying cure; and the one awarded with the favor that he will be triumphing when he will be returned; and also the Prophet’s Successors from his offspring

،ِ‫الْكَرَّة‬ َّ‫الْ ُمعَوِّضِ ِمنْ قَ ْت ِلهِ أَن‬ ،ِ‫س ِله‬ ْ َ‫ألئِمَّةَ ِمنْ ن‬ َ‫ا‬ ،ِ‫وَالشِّفَاءَ فِي تُ ْربَ ِته‬ ،ِ‫وَالْ َف ْوزَ َم َعهُ فِي أَ ْوبَ ِته‬ َ‫وَاألَوْصِيَاءَ ِمنْ عِتْرَِتهِ َبعْد‬

will be returned after the advent of their Rising Imam and after his occultation, so that they shall take revenge, and they shall retaliate, and they shall please the Onmipotent Lord, and they shall be the best supporters. May Allah’s blessings be perpetually upon them whenever night and day succeed each other. O Allah: I thus beg You in the name of them; and I implore You with the imploration of a sinful one who confesses of his guilt, and who has done evil to himself, due to his violations—the past and the present. He thus beseeches You for protection from You up to the place of his grave. O Allah: (please) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and his Offspring, and include us with his group (on the Resurrection Day) and allow us to dwell in the House of Honor with him, and in the abode of residence.

،ِ‫قَائِمِهِمْ وَغَيْبَ ِته‬ ،َ‫درِ ُكوَا األَوْتَار‬ ْ ُ‫حَتَّى ي‬ ،َ‫وَيَثْ َأرُوَا الثَّار‬ ،َ‫ضوَا الْجَبَّار‬ ُ ْ‫وَيُر‬ ،ٍ‫وَيَكُوُنوَا خَيْرَ َأنْصَار‬ َ‫صَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَيْهِمْ َمع‬ .ِ‫اخْتِالفِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَار‬ َ‫اللّهُمَّ فَبِحَقِّهِمْ إلَيْك‬ ُ‫أََتوَسَّل‬ ٍ‫سؤَالَ مُقْتَرِف‬ ُ ُ‫وََأسْأَل‬ ٍ‫ُمعْتَرِف‬ ِ‫مُسِيءٍ إلَى نَفْسِه‬ ،ِ‫مِمَّا فَرَّطَ فِي َي ْو ِمهِ وََأمْسِه‬ ِّ‫يَسْأَلُكَ اْلعِصْ َمةَ إلَى مَحَل‬ .ِ‫سه‬ ِ ْ‫َرم‬ ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّد‬ ،ِ‫وَعِتْرَِته‬ ،ِ‫وَاحْشُ ْرنَا فِي ُزمْرَِته‬ ،ِ‫َوبَوِّئْنَا َم َعهُ دَارَ الْكَرَا َمة‬ .ِ‫َومَحَلِّ اإلقَا َمة‬

O Allah: as You have conferred upon us with the honor of our recognition of him, (please) confer upon us with the honor of being near to him, and bestow upon us with the bliss of accompanying him and enjoying a close rank to him, and include us with those who submit to him totally, and those who pray (You) for sending blessings upon him whenever they mention him, and also upon all his Successors and Selected Ones, whom are defined by You as twelve persons, being the luminous stars, and the Arguments against all humankind. O Allah: and (please) grant us on this day the best of grants, and make all our prayers on this day responded, in the same way as You gifted al-°usayn to Mu¦ammad: his grandfather, and in the same way as the angels Futrus sought refuge with his (i.e. al-°usayn) cradle we are thus seeking refuge with his tomb after him (i.e. his

‫اللّهُمَّ وَكَمَا أَكْ َرمْتَنَا‬ ،ِ‫بِ َمعْرِفَ ِتهِ فَأَكْ ِرمْنَا بِزُلْفَ ِته‬ ،ُ‫وَا ْرزُقْنَا مُرَافَقَ َتهُ َوسَابِقَ َته‬ ،ِ‫ج َعلْنَا مِمَّنْ يُسَلِّمُ ألمْرِه‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ َ‫وَيُكْثِرُ الصَّالةَ َعلَ ْيهِ عِنْد‬ ،ِ‫ذِكْرِه‬ ِ‫وَ َعلَى جَمِيعِ أَوْصِيَاِئه‬ ،ِ‫وَأَهْلِ أَصْفِيَاِئه‬ ِ‫الْمَمْدُودِينَ مِنْكَ بِاْلعَدَد‬ ،َ‫اإلثْنَي عَشَر‬ ،ِ‫النُّجُومِ الزُّهَر‬ ِ‫وَالْحُجَجِ َعلَى جَمِيع‬ .ِ‫الْبَشَر‬ ‫اللّهُمَّ وَهَبْ لَنَا فِي هذَا‬ ،ٍ‫الْ َيوْمِ خَيْرَ َموْهِ َبة‬ ،ٍ‫وََأنْجِحْ لَنَا فِيهِ كُلِّ َطلِ َبة‬ َ‫كَمَا وَهَبْتَ الْحُسَ ْين‬ ،ِ‫لُِمحَمَّدٍ جَدِّه‬ ،ِ‫وَعَاذَ فُطْرُسُ بِمَهْدِه‬ ْ‫حنُ عَائِذُونَ بِقَبْرِهِ ِمن‬ ْ َ‫فَن‬

ِ‫َبعْدِه‬ ُ‫نَشْهَدُ تُ ْربَ َتهُ َونَنْتَظِر‬ ،ُ‫أَ ْوبَ َته‬

Respond to us; O the Lord of .َ‫آمِينَ رَبَّ اْلعَالَمِين‬ the worlds. After that, you may recite the Du`a' al-°usayn, which is the last supplication uttered by Imam °usain (a.s) when his enemies surrounded him in large numbers on the Day of `ªsh£ra’ (the tenth of Mu¦arram, AH 61): O Allah: You are verily the Elevated in position, the Magnificent in omnipotence, the Mighty in prowess, the Self-Sufficient from the creatures, the Ample in pride, the Powerful over all that which You want, the Close in mercy,

‫اللّهُمَّ َأنْتَ مُ َتعَالي‬ ،ِ‫الْمَكَان‬ ،ِ‫عَظِيمُ الْجَبَرُوت‬ ،ِ‫شَدِيدُ الْمِحَال‬ ،ِ‫غَنِيٌّ َعنِ الْخَالئِق‬ ،ِ‫عَرِيضُ الْكِبْرِيَاء‬ ،ُ‫قَا ِدرٌ َعلَى مَا تَشَاء‬ ،ِ‫قَرِيبُ الرَّحْ َمة‬

the Truthful in promise,

،ِ‫صَادِقُ اْلوَعْد‬

the Opulent in favors,

،ِ‫سَاِبغُ النِّعْ َمة‬

the Sympathetic in ordeals,

،ِ‫سنُ الْبَالء‬ َ َ‫ح‬

the Nigh when Your are prayed, the All-encompassing of all that which You have created, the Accepter of the repentance of him who repents to You, the Powerful to do whatever

،َ‫قَرِيبٌ إذَا دُعِيت‬ ،َ‫خلَقْت‬ َ ‫مُحِيطٌ بِمَا‬ َ‫قَابِلُ التَّ ْوَبةِ لِ َمنْ تَاب‬ ،َ‫إلَيْك‬ ،َ‫قَا ِدرٌ َعلَى مَا َأرَدْت‬

You want, the Taker in all that which You decide, the Thankful for those who thank You, the Rememberer of those who mention You. I pray You for I need You; and I desire for You for I am in want of You; and I resort to You for I am terrified; and I weep before You for I am distressed; and I seek Your aid for I am weak; and I depend upon You for I trust in none save You; (please do) decide between our people and us with the truth, for they have deceived us, cheated us, disappointed us, betrayed us, and killed us. We are verily the progeny of Your Prophet, and the sons of Your beloved one, namely Mu¦ammad ibn `Abdullah, whom You have chosen for the Divine Mission and for keeping Your Revelation. So, (please so) prepare a way out and a relief for us,

،َ‫درِكٌ مَا َطلَبْت‬ ْ ُ‫َوم‬ ،َ‫َوشَكُورٌ إذَا شُكِرْت‬ ،َ‫وَذَكُورٌ إذَا ذُكِرْت‬ ،ً‫أَدْعُوكَ مُحْتَاجا‬ ،ً‫وََأرْغَبُ إلَيْكَ فَقِيرا‬ ،ً‫وَأَفْزَعُ إلَيْكَ خَائِفا‬ ،ً‫وََأبْكِي إلَيْكَ مَكْرُوبا‬ ،ً‫ضعِيفا‬ َ َ‫وََأسْ َتعِينُ بِك‬ ،ً‫وَأََتوَكَّلُ َعلَيْكَ كَافِيا‬ ‫احْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا َوبَ ْينَ َق ْومِنَا‬ ،ِّ‫بِالْحَق‬ ‫فَإنَّهُمْ غَرُّونَا وَخَدَعُونَا‬ ‫وَخَذَلُونَا وَغَدَرُوَا بِنَا‬ ،‫وَقَ َتلُونَا‬ َ‫حنُ عِتْرَةُ نَبِيِّك‬ ْ َ‫َون‬ َ‫وَوَلَدُ حَبِيبِك‬ ِ‫مُحَمَّدِ ْبنِ عَبْدِال ّله‬ ِ‫الَّذِي اصْطَفَيْ َتهُ بِالرِّسَاَلة‬ ،َ‫وَائْتَمَنْ َتهُ َعلَى وَحْيِك‬ ً‫جعَلْ لَنَا ِمنْ َأمْ ِرنَا فَرَجا‬ ْ ‫فَا‬

Ayyame Bayz (13 th , 14th and 15 th nights of Sha’ban) 13 t h , 14 th and 15 th of Rajab, Sha’aan and Ramdhan are known as “Ayyaam-e-Bayz” (the days of surpassing splendor). Imam Jafar bin Muhammad Sadiq (as) has said: "Whoso prays during the nights of “Ayyam Bayz”, in fact, stands at the door of superabundant favours, bounties and benefits available in these months" It is highly desirable to observe fast on 13, 14 and 15, have a bath each day, and give alms in the way of Allah. In the night of “Ayyam Bayz” pray a 12 Rak-a’t Salat /Namaz as under (i) In the night of the 13th pray 2 Rak-a’t: In each Rak-a’t recite Surah Al Fatih’ah, Surah Al Yaa Seen, Surah Al Mulk and Sura Ikhlass. (ii) In the night of the 14th pray 4 Rak-a’t: in 2 sets of 2 of 2 Rak-a’t, each exactly as (i) (iii) In the night of the 15th pray 6 Rak-a’t: in 3 sets of 2 of 2 Rak-a’t, each exactly as (i)

15 th Night of Sha`ban Merits of the night of 15 th Sha’ban: Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s) has narrated that when Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s) was asked about the merits of the fifteenth night of Sha`ban, he answered, “It is the most favorable night after the Qadr Night. At this night, Allah (swt) bestows upon His servants with His favors and grants them His pardon. Therefore, you should exert all efforts for seeking nearness to Allah (swt) at this night, because He—Majestic and Honorable is He—has decided not to reject and beggar so long as an act of disobedience is asked. Allah (swt) has chosen this night for us, the Ahl al-Bayt, in the same way as He has chosen the Qadr Night for our Prophet—peace be upon him and his Family. You should thus pray Allah (swt) and thank Him diligently.” The Holy Prophet (saws) has said that during the night of 15th Sha’ban, Allah (swt) takes decisions in the matters of sustenance, life and death and welfare of the people. Also, at the dawn of this night, the 12th Imam, Imam Mohammed Mahdi (atfs) was born in Samarrah in the year 255 AH. It is highly recommended to spend this whole night with acts of worship, prayers, supplications, invocations and prayers for forgiveness. A °ad¢th has confirmed that as for one who spends this whole night with acts of worship, his heart will not die when other hearts die. The first thing that that Salik (the Wayfarer on the path towards Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He) must perform on this night is that he must remove the material pleasures and enjoyments of this world from in front of his eyes (and from his heart) and in order to make the most of this special night and ensure that all of his actions are performed properly. He must think to himself that tonight is his last night on this Earth (meaning that tomorrow he shall die) and thus, he will no longer have the opportunity to perform any more good deeds and that tomorrow the Day of Judgment will take place.

Recommneded Acts for the Night of 15 th Sha’ban: Take Ghusl (Bath) with the thought of washing away sins & as if it ’s your last Ghusl It is recommended to mention Allah (swt) by the following invocation one hundred times so that one’s past acts of disobedience to Allah (swt) will be forgiven and one’s worldly and religious needs will be settled: All glory be to Allah;

،ِ‫سُبْحَانَ ال ّله‬

all praise be to Allah;

،ِ‫وَالْحَمْدُ ِل ّله‬

there is no god save Allah; Allah is the Greatest;

،ُ‫وَال إلهَ إالَّ ال ّله‬ ،ُ‫وَال ّلهُ أَكْبَر‬

Recite 100 times 'Astaghfirullah ' with attention to seeking forgiveness.

Ziyarah of Imam Husain for the night of 15 th Sha`ban In his book of ‘ al-Balad al-Amin ’, Shaykh al-Kaf`amiy has reported Imam al¯adiq (a.s) as saying that one may stop at the holy tomb of Imam al -°usayn (a.s) and say the following: All praise be to Allah; the Most High, the All-great. Peace be upon you; O the righteous, pure servant (of Allah).

ِ‫ألْحَمْدُ هللِ اْل َعلِيِّ اْلعَظيم‬ ُ‫والسَّالمُ َعلَيْكَ أيُّها اْلعَبْد‬ ُّ‫الصَّالِحُ الزَّكي‬

I entrust with you a testimony of mine that takes me near you on the day of your intercession (for some people).

َ‫اُودِعُكَ شَهادَةً مِنِّي لَك‬ ِ‫َربُني إلَيْكَ فِي َيوْم‬ ِّ ‫تُق‬ ،َ‫شَفاعَتِك‬

I bear witness that although you were slain, you have not died; Rather the hearts of your adherents (Sh¢`ah) are living on the hope of your being alive;

ْ‫أشْهَدُ أنَّكَ قُ ِتلْتَ وَلَمْ تَمُت‬ ْ‫بَلْ بِرَجاءِ حَياتِكَ حَيِيَت‬ ،َ‫ُقلُوبُ شيعَتِك‬

And by the light of your illumination have those seeking you been guided (to the right path).

‫َوبِضِياءِ نُورِكَ اهْتَدَى‬

And I bear witness that you are verily the Light of Allah that has not and shall never be extinguished.

ْ‫وَأشْهَدُ أنَّكَ نُورُ اهللِ الَّذي لَم‬

And you are verily the Face of Allah that has not and shall never be perishing.

ْ‫جهُ اهللِ الَّذي لَم‬ ْ َ‫وَأنَّكَ و‬

And I bear witness that this soil is yours,

،َ‫الطَّالِبُونَ إلَيْك‬ ،ً‫يُطْفَأْ وَال يُطْفَأُ أبَدا‬ ،ً‫يَ ْهلِكْ وَال يُهْلَكُ أبَدا‬ َ‫وَأشْهَدُ أنَّ هذِهِ التُّ ْرَبة‬ ،َ‫تُ ْربَتُك‬

And this holy precinct is yours.

،َ‫وَهذا الْحَرَمَ حَ َرمُك‬

And this death is the death of your body only, While you have never been humiliated since Allah is the One Who is pouring honor upon you And you have never been defeated since Allah is the One Who is supporting you. I would like you to keep this testimony of mine with you up to the day when my soul will be grasped in the presence of you. Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

َ‫دنِك‬ َ َ‫وَهذا الْمَصْرَعَ مَصْرَعُ ب‬ َ‫ال ذَليلَ واهللِ ُمعِزُّك‬ ،َ‫وَال َم ْغلُوبَ واهللِ ناصِرُك‬ ‫هذِهِ شَهادَةٌ لي عِنْدَكَ إلى‬ ،َ‫َيوْمَ قَبْضِ روُحي بِحَضْرَتِك‬ ِ‫والسَّالمُ َعلَيْكُمْ َورَحْ َمةُ اهلل‬ .ُ‫َوبَرَكاُته‬

Supplication as a form of Ziyarah for the 12th Imam It is recommended to recite the following supplication, which stand for a form of Ziyarah for the Concealed Imam al-Mahdi (a.s). this supplication has been mentioned by both Sayyid Ibn ±aw£s and Shaykh al-±£siy: O Allah: I beseech You in the name of this night and in the name of him whom was born at it and in the name of Your Argument and in the name of Your promise in it, the night that You have added a new merit to its many merits So, Your Word has been accomplished truly and fairly;

ِ‫اللّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ لَ ْيلَتِنَا هذِه‬ ‫َو َموْلُودِهَا‬ ،‫وَحُجَّتِكَ َو َموْعُودِهَا‬ ‫الَّتِي قَ َرنْتَ إلَى فَضْلِهَا‬ ،ً‫فَضْال‬ ً‫فَتَمَّتْ َكلِمَتُكَ صِدْقا‬ ،ً‫وَعَدْال‬

no one can change Your words,

،َ‫كلِمَاتِك‬ َ ِ‫ال مُبَدِّلَ ل‬

nor obscure Your signs,

،َ‫وَال ُمعَقِّبَ آليَاتِك‬

(He is) Your glowing Light and Your bring splendor and the luminous sign in the obscurity of darkness and the absent and the concealed, Lofty is his birth and noble is his lineage and the angels are his witnesses

،ُ‫نُورُكَ الْمُتَأَلِّق‬ ،ُ‫وَضِيَاؤُكَ الْمُشْرِق‬ ِ‫وَاْل َعلَمُ النُّورُ فِي طَخْيَاء‬ ،ِ‫الدَّيْجُور‬ ُ‫اْلغَائِبُ الْمَسْتُور‬ َ‫ وَكَرُم‬،ُ‫جَلَّ َموْلِدُه‬ ،ُ‫مَحْتِدُه‬ ،ُ‫كةُ شُهَّدُه‬ َ ِ‫وَالْمَالئ‬

and Allah is his Supporter and Backer when his time comes and the angels shall be his sponsors; (He shall act as) the sword of Allah that shall never miss the target, and His light that shall never be extinguished And the forbearing person who shall never deviate the truth. and the motive and reason of the course of events, and the one for whom the laws of ages have been made and (one of) the men of authority who receive that which is revealed on the Grand Night. and the managers of the Resurrection and the Account; (They are) the interpreters of His revelations and in charge of what is deemed lawful and what is deemed unlawful by Him. O Allah: send blessings on their seal and their Riser whom is hidden from their world. O Allah: (please) make us causes for the coming of him,

،ُ‫وَال ّلهُ نَاصِرُهُ َو ُمؤَيِّدُه‬ ُ‫كة‬ َ ِ‫إذَا آنَ مِيعَادُهُ وَالْمَالئ‬ ،ُ‫َأمْدَادُه‬ ،‫سَيْفُ ال ّلهِ الَّذِي ال يَنْبُو‬ ،‫َونُورُهُ الَّذِي ال يَخْبُو‬ ‫حلْمِ الَّذِي ال‬ ِ ْ‫وَذُو ال‬ ،‫يَصْبُو‬ ،ِ‫مَدَارُ الدَّهْر‬ ،ِ‫َوَنوَامِيسُ اْلعَصْر‬ ،ِ‫ألمْر‬ َ ‫وَوُالةُ ا‬ ‫وَالْمُنَزَّلُ َعلَيْهِمْ مَا‬ ،ِ‫در‬ ْ َ‫يَتَنَزَّلُ فِي لَ ْي َلةِ الْق‬ ِ‫وَأَصْحَابُ الْحَشْر‬ ،ِ‫وَالنَّشْر‬ ،ِ‫تَرَاجِ َمةُ وَحْ ِيه‬ .ِ‫وَوُالةُ َأمْرِهِ وَنَهْ ِيه‬ ‫اللّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ َعلَى‬ ُ‫خَاتِمِهِمْ وَقَائِمِهِم‬ .ْ‫الْمَسْتُورِ َعنْ َعوَالِمِهِم‬ ُ‫اللّهُمَّ وَأَ ْدرِكْ بِنَا أَيَّا َمه‬

and causes for his advent and reappearance and (please) include us with his supporters and join our vengeance to his and decide us to be among his assistants and retinue. and make us live in bliss in his reign, and make us win the ecstasy of his companionship, and make us of those who carry out our duty toward him, and save us from evil. O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy. All praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. His blessings be upon our master, Mu¦ammad the seal of the Prophets and the Messengers, and upon his Household, the veracious, and his offspring, the spokespersons of the truth, and curse all the wrongdoers

Shaykh Isma`¢l ibn Fa¤l al-Hashimiy has narrated that Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s) instructed him to recite the following supplication at the fifteenth night of Sha`ban: O Allah: You are verily the Ever-living, the Self-Subsisting, the Most High, the All-great, the Creator, the Sustainer, the Giver of live, the Causer of death, the Originator, the Maker.

ُ‫اللّهُمَّ َأنْتَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوم‬ ُ‫اْل َعلِيُّ الْعَظِيم‬ ُ‫الْخَالِقُ الرَّازِق‬ ُ‫الْمُحْيِي الْمُمِيت‬ ،ُ‫الْبَدِيءُ الْبَدِيع‬

To You is the Majesty

،ُ‫لَكَ الْجَالل‬

and to You is the favor,

،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْفَضْل‬

and to You is all praise,

،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْحَمْد‬

and to You is thanks,

،ُّ‫وَلَكَ الْمَن‬

and to You is magnanimity,

،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْجُود‬

and to You is generosity,

،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْكَرَم‬

and to You do belong all affairs,

،ُ‫ألمْر‬ َ ‫وَلَكَ ا‬

and to You is glory,

،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْمَجْد‬

and to You is gratitude;

،ُ‫وَلَكَ الشُّكْر‬

You are alone without having any partner with You. O the One: O the Absolute: O the Besought of all: O He Who neither begets nor is He begotten,

،َ‫وَحْدَكَ ال شَرِيكَ لَك‬ ُ‫يَا وَاحِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَد‬ ْ‫يَا َمنْ لَمْ َيلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَد‬

and there is none like to Him.

،ٌ‫كنْ َلهُ كُفُواً أَحَد‬ ُ َ‫وَلَمْ ي‬

(please do) bless Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad

ٍ‫صَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬

and forgive me; and have mercy upon me; and relieve me from whatever has aggrieved me;

‫وَاغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي‬ ‫وَاكْفِنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي‬

and help me settle my debt;

،‫وَاقْضِ دَيْنِي‬

and expand my provisions;

،‫وَوَسِّعْ َعلَيَّ فِي ِرزْقِي‬

for You, at this night, make distinct all affairs of wisdom; and You grant sustenance to whomever You wish among Your creatures. So, (please do) grant me sustenance and You are verily the Best of sustainers. You have said—and You are the Best of those who speak and utter— “Ask Allah of His bounty.” I thus ask You of Your bounty; and to You do I turn my face; and the intercession of Your Prophet’s son do I seek; and for You do I hope. So, (please do) have mercy upon me; O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

ٍ‫فَإنَّكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلةِ كُلَّ َأمْر‬ ،ُ‫حَكِيمٍ تَفْرُق‬ ،ُ‫خلْقِكَ تَ ْرزُق‬ َ ْ‫َو َمنْ تَشَاءُ ِمن‬ ،َ‫فَا ْرزُقْنِي وََأنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِين‬ ُ‫فَإنَّكَ ُقلْتَ وََأنْتَ خَيْر‬ :َ‫الْقَاِئلِينَ النَّاطِقِين‬ )ِ‫ض ِله‬ ْ َ‫(وَاسْأَُلوَا ال ّلهَ ِمنْ ف‬ ،ُ‫فَ ِمنْ فَضْلِكَ َأسْأَل‬ ،ُ‫وَإيَّاكَ قَصَدْت‬ ،ُ‫وَاْبنَ نَبِيِّكَ اعْتَمَدْت‬ ،ُ‫جوْت‬ َ َ‫وَلَكَ ر‬ .َ‫فَارْحَمْنِي يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬

It is recommended to say this supplication, which the Holy Prophet (a.s) used to recite at this night: O Allah: (please do) grant us an amount of fearfulness of You that prevents us from committing acts of disobedience to You; and an amount of obedience to You that makes us attain Your satisfaction; and an amount of conviction that help us tolerate the vicissitudes of this worldly life. O Allah: (please do) make us enjoy our hearings, sights, and powers

َ‫اللّهُمَّ اقْسِمْ لَنَا ِمنْ خَشْيَتِك‬ ،َ‫مَا يَحُولُ بَيْنَنَا َوبَ ْينَ َمعْصِيَتِك‬ ِ‫َو ِمنْ طَاعَتِكَ مَا تُبَلِّغُنَا ِبه‬ ،َ‫ضوَانَك‬ ْ ِ‫ر‬ ِ‫َو ِمنَ الْيَقِينِ مَا يَهُونُ َعلَيْنَا ِبه‬ .‫مُصِيبَاتُ الدُّنْيَا‬ ‫اللّهُمَّ َأمْ ِتعْنَا بِأَسْمَاعِنَا وََأبْصَا ِرنَا‬ ‫وَقُوَّتِنَا‬

so long as You decide to keep us alive; and (please do) make it the ،‫ج َع ْلهُ اْلوَارِثَ مِنَّا‬ ْ ‫مَا أَحْيَيْتَنَا وَا‬ inheritor of us. And (please do) make us avenge ourselves against them who ،‫وَاجْعَلْ ث ْأ َرنَا َعلَى َمنْ َظلَمَنَا‬ wrong us; and back us against them who ،‫وَانْصُ ْرنَا َعلَى َمنْ عَادَانَا‬ antagonize us; and do not suffer misfortunes in ،‫جعَلْ مُصِيبَتَنَا فِي دِينِنَا‬ ْ َ‫وَال ت‬ affairs of our religion; and do not make our worldly ‫جعَلِ الدُّنْيَا أَكْبَرَ هَمِّنَا وَال‬ ْ َ‫وَال ت‬ affairs happen to be our greatest concern or our utmost ،‫مَ ْب َلغَ ِعلْمِنَا‬ knowledge; and do set him who does not have ،‫وَال تُسَلِّطْ َعلَيْنَا َمنْ ال يَرْحَمُنَا‬ mercy upon us as master over us; in the name of Your mercy; O the most Merciful of all those who .َ‫بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬ show mercy. Actually, this supplication is one of the perfect, comprehensive prayers that may be recited at all times. In the word of the book of ‘`Awal¢ al-La’al¢’, the Holy Prophet (a.s) used to recite this supplication at all times.

Du`a Kumayl It is recommended to recite the famous Du`a' Kumayl (The Supplication of Kumayl ibn Ziyad): In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the Allcompassionate O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy, which embraces all things; And by Your strength, through which You dominatest all things, And toward which all things are humble And before which all things are lowly; And by Your invincibility through which You overwhelmest all things, And by Your might, which nothing can resist; And by Your tremendousness, which has filled all things; by Your force, which towers over all things; And by Your face, which subsists after the annihilation of all things, And by Your Names, which have filled the foundations of all things;

ِ‫اللهِ الرَّحْ َمنِ الرَّحِيم‬ َّ ِ‫بِسْم‬ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي َأسْألُكَ بِرَحْمَتِك‬ ‫سعَتْ كُلَّ شَيٍْء‬ ِ ‫الَّتِي َو‬ ‫َوبِقُوَّتِكَ الَّتِي قَهَرْتَ بِهَا‬ ‫كُلَّ شَيٍْء‬ ‫ضعَ لَهَا كُلُّ شَيٍْء‬ َ َ‫وَخ‬ ‫وَذَلَّ لَهَا كُلُّ شَيٍْء‬ ‫َوبِجَبرُوتِكَ الَّتِي َغلَبْتَ بِهَا‬ ‫كُلَّ شَيٍْء‬ ‫َوِبعِزَّتِكَ الَّتِي ال يَقُومُ لَهَا‬ ٌ‫شَيْء‬ َّ‫َوِبعَظَمَتِكَ الَّتِي مَألَتْ كُل‬ ‫شَيٍْء‬ َّ‫َوبِسُلْطَانِكَ الَّذِي عَالَ كُل‬ ‫شَيٍْء‬ ِ‫َوِبوَجْهِكَ الْبَاقِي َبعْدَ فَنَاء‬ ‫كُلِّ شَيٍْء‬ ْ‫َوبِأَسْمَائِكَ الَّتِي مَألَت‬

‫َأرْكَانَ كُلِّ شَيٍْء‬ And by Your knowledge, which encompasses all things;

ِّ‫َوِب ِعلْمِكَ الَّذِي أَحَاطَ بِكُل‬

And by the light of Your face, through which all things are illumined!

ُ‫َوبِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي أَضَاءَ َله‬

O Light! O All-holy!

‫شَيٍْء‬ ‫كُلُّ شَيٍْء‬ ُ‫يَا نُورُ يَا قُدُّوس‬

O First of those who are first

َ‫يَا أَوَّلَ األَوَّلِين‬

And O Last of those who are last!

َ‫وَيَا آخِرَ اآلخِرِين‬

O Allah, forgive me those sins which tear apart safeguards!

َ‫الذنُوب‬ ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَ اغْفِرْ لِي‬

O Allah, forgive me those sins which draw down adversities!

َ‫الذنُوب‬ ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَ اغْفِرْ لِي‬

O Allah, forgive me those sins which alter blessings!

َ‫الَّتِي تَهتِكُ اْلعِصَم‬ َ‫الَّتِي تُنْزِلُ النِّقَم‬ َ‫الذنُوب‬ ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَ اغْفِرْ لِي‬ َ‫النعَم‬ ِّ ُ‫الَّتِي تُغيِّر‬

O Allah forgive me those sins which hold back supplication!

َ‫الذنُوب‬ ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي‬

O Allah forgive me those sins which cut down the hopes!

َ‫الذنُوب‬ ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي‬

O Allah, forgive me those sins which draw down tribulation!

َ‫الذنُوب‬ ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي‬

O Allah, forgive me every sin I have committed and every mistake I have made!

َ‫الَّتِي تَحْبِسُ الدُّعَاء‬ َ‫طعُ الرَّجَاء‬ َ ْ‫الَّتِي تَق‬ َ‫الَّتِي تُنْزِلُ البَالء‬ ٍ‫اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي كُلَّ َذنْب‬ ٍ‫أَ ْذنَبْ ُتهُ وَكُلَّ خَطِيئَة‬

‫أَخْطَأْتُهَا‬ O Allah, verily I seek nearness to You through remembrance of You,

َ‫اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْك‬ َ‫بِذِكْرِك‬

And I seek intercession from You with Yourself,

َ‫وََأسْتَشْ ِفعُ بِكَ إِلَي نَفْسِك‬

And I ask You through Your munificence to bring me near to Your proximity,

‫وََأسْألُكَ بِجُودِكَ أَن‬

And to provide me with gratitude toward You And to inspire me with Your remembrance.

َ‫وَأَن تُوزِعَنِي شُكْرَك‬

O Allah, verily I ask You with the asking of a submissive, abased and lowly man to show me forbearance, to have mercy on me And to make me satisfied and content with Your appointment and [make me] humble in every state. O Allah, I ask You the question of one whose indigence is extreme, And who has stated to You in difficulties his need

َ‫دنِيَنِي مِن قُ ْربِك‬ ْ ُ‫ت‬ َ‫وَأَن ُتلْهِمَنِي ذِكْرَك‬ َ‫سؤَال‬ ُ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي َأسْألُك‬ ‫شعٍ أَن‬ ِ ‫ضعٍ مُّتَذَلِّلٍ خَا‬ ِ ‫خَا‬ ‫تُسَامِحَنِي وَتَرْحَمَنِي‬ ً‫وَتَجْعلَنِي بِقَسَمِكَ رَاضِيا‬ ‫حوَاِل‬ ْ َ‫ وَفِي جَمِيعِ األ‬،ً‫قَانِعا‬ ً‫مُ َتوَاضِعا‬ ِ‫سؤَالَ َمن‬ ُ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ وََأسْألُك‬ ُ‫اشْتَدَّتْ فَاقَتُه‬ ِ‫وَأَنزَلَ بِكَ عِنْدَ الشَّدَائِد‬ ُ‫حَاجَتَه‬

And whose desire for what is with You has become great.

ُ‫وَعَظُمَ فِيمَا عِنْدَكَ رَغْبَ ُته‬

O Allah, Your force is tremendous, Your place is lofty,

َ‫سلْطَانُكَ وَعَال‬ ُ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ عَظُم‬ َ‫مَكَانُك‬

And Your deception is hidden, Your command is manifest, And Your domination is overwhelming, Your power is unhindered And escape from Your governance is impossible. O Allah, I find no forgiver of my sins, Nor concealer of my ugly acts Nor transformer of any of my ugly acts into good acts but You There is no god but You! Glory be to You, and Thine is the praise! I have wronged myself, And I have been audacious in my ignorance And I have depended upon Your ancient remembrance of me and Your favour toward me. O Allah! O my Protector! How many ugly things You hast concealed! How many burdensome tribulations You hast abolished! And how many stumbles You

َ‫وَخَفِي مَكْرُكَ وَظَهَرَ َأمْرُك‬ ْ‫وَ َغلَبَ قَهْرُكَ وَجَرَت‬ َ‫درَتُك‬ ْ ُ‫ق‬ ْ‫كنُ الْفِرَارُ ِمن‬ ِ ْ‫وَال يُم‬ َ‫حُكُومَتِك‬ ً‫ذنُوبِي غَافِرا‬ ُ ِ‫اللَّهُمَّ ال أَجِدُ ل‬ ً‫وَّال لِقَبَائِحِي سَاتِرا‬ ‫وَّال لِشَيٍْء ِّمنْ عَمَلِي‬ ً‫سنِ مُبَدِّال‬ َ َ‫الْقَبِيحِ بِالْح‬ َ‫غَيْرَك‬ َ‫ال إَِلهَ إِالَّ أَنت‬ َ‫سُبْحَانَكَ َوبِحَمْدِك‬ ‫َظلَمْتُ نَفْسِي‬ ‫وَتَجَرَّأْتُ بِجَ ْهلِي‬ َ‫َوسَكَنتُ إِلَي قَدِيمِ ذِكْرِك‬ َّ‫لِي َومَنِّكَ َعلَي‬ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ َموْالي‬ ُ‫كَم مِّن قَبِيحٍ سَتَرْتَه‬ ِ‫وَكَم مِّن فَاِدحٍ ِّمنَ البَالء‬ ُ‫أَ َقلْ َته‬ ُ‫وَكَم ِّمنْ عِثَارٍ وَّقَيْتَه‬

hast prevented! And how many ordeals You hast repelled! And how much beautiful praise, for which I was unworthy, You hast spread abroad! O Allah, my tribulation is tremendous, And my bad state is excessive,

ُ‫وَكَم مِّن مَّكْرُوهٍ دَ َفعْ َته‬ ُ‫وَكَم مِّن ثَنَاٍء جَمِيلٍ لَّسْت‬ ُ‫أَهْالً َّلهُ نَشَرَْته‬ ‫اللَّهُمَّ عَظُمَ بَالئِي‬ ‫وَأَفْرَطَ بِي سُوءُ حَاِلي‬

And my acts are inadequate,

‫وَقَصُرَتْ بِي أَعْمَاِلي‬

And my fetters have tied me down,

‫وَ َقعَدَتْ بِي أَغْالَلِي‬

And my far-fetched hopes have held me back from my gain

ُ‫وَحَبَسَنِي عَن نَّ ْفعِي ُبعْد‬

And this world with its delusions, my own soul with its offences and my delay have deceived me. O my Master! So I ask You by Your might not to let my evil works and acts veil my supplication from You, And not to disgrace me through the hidden things You knowest of my secrets And not to hasten me to punishment for what I have done in private: My evil acts in secrecy and my misdeeds And my continuous negligence and my ignorance

‫آمَاِلي‬ ‫الدنْيَا ِبغُرُورِهَا‬ ُّ ‫وَخَدَعَتْنِي‬ ‫َونَفْسِي بِجِنَايَتِهَا َومِطَاِلي‬ َ‫يَا سَيِّدِي فَ َأسْألُكَ ِبعِزَّتِك‬ ‫أَن ال يَحْجُبَ عَنْكَ دُعَائِي‬ ‫سُوءُ عَمَلِي وَ ِفعَاِلي‬ ‫وَال تَفْضَحَنِي بِخَفِيِّ مَا‬ ‫اط َلعْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ ِمنْ سِرِّي‬ َّ ‫جلْنِي بِاْلعُقُوَبةِ عَلَى‬ ِ ‫وَال ُتعَا‬ ‫خ َلوَاتِي‬ َ ‫مَا عَ ِملْ ُتهُ فِي‬ ،‫ِمنْ سُوءِ ِف ْعلِي وَِإسَاءَتِي‬ ‫وَدَوَامِ تَفْرِيطِي وَجَهَالَتِي‬

And my manifold passions and my forgetfulness. And by Your might, O Allah, be kind to me in all states And be gracious to me in all affairs! My God and my Lord! Have I any but You from whom to ask removal of my affliction and regard for my affairs! My God and my Protector! You put into effect through me a decree in which I followed the caprice of my own soul And [I] did not remain wary of adorning my enemy.

47

‫وَكَثْرَةِ شَ َهوَاتِي وَغَ ْفلَتِي‬ ‫وَ ُكنِ اللَّهُمَّ ِبعِزَّتِكَ لِي فِي‬ ً‫حوَاِل رَؤُوفا‬ ْ َ‫كُلِّ األ‬ ِ‫ألمُور‬ ُ ‫وَّ َعلَيَّ فِي جَمِيعِ ا‬ ً‫عَطُوفا‬ َ‫إِلَهِي َورَبِّي مَن لِّي غَيْرُك‬ َ‫َأسْأُلهُ كَشْفَ ضُرِّي وَالْنَّظَر‬ !‫فِي َأمْرِي‬ َّ‫إِلَهِي َو َموْالي أَجْرَيْتَ َعلَي‬ ‫حُكْماً اتَّ َبعْتُ فِيهِ َهوَى‬ ،‫نَفْسِي‬ ‫وَلَمْ أَحْتَرِسْ فِيهِ مِن‬ ،‫تَزْيينِ عَدُوِّي‬

So he deluded me through my soul's caprice and therein destiny favoured him

ُ‫سعَدَه‬ ْ ‫َرنِي بِمَا أَ ْهوَى وََأ‬ َّ ‫َفغ‬

So, in what was put into effect through me in that situation, I transgressed some of Your statutes And disobeyed some of Your commands.

َّ‫فَتَجَا َوزْتُ بِمَا جَرَى َعلَي‬

So Thine is the argument against me in all of that I have no argument in what Your destiny put into effect through me therein

ُ‫َعلَى ذَلِكَ القَضَاء‬ َ‫ِمنْ ذَلِكَ َبعْضَ حُدُودِك‬ َ‫وَخَالَفْتُ َبعْضَ أَوَامِرِك‬ ‫ُجةُ َعلَيَّ فِي‬ َّ ‫َفلَكَ الْح‬ َ‫جَمِيعِ ذَلِك‬ ‫ُجةَ لِي فِيمَا جَرَي‬ َّ ‫وَال ح‬ ،َ‫َعلَيَّ فِيهِ قَضَاؤُك‬

nor in what Your decree and Your tribulation imposed upon me. Now I have come to You, My God, after my shortcoming and my immoderation toward myself, Proffering my excuse, regretful, Broken, apologizing, Asking forgiveness, repenting, Acknowledging, submissive, confessing. I find no place to flee from what occurred through me, Nor any place of escape to which I may turn in my affairs, Other than Your acceptance of my excuse and Your entering me into the compass of Your mercy. O Allah, so accept my excuse, Have mercy upon the severity of my affliction And release me from the tightness of my fetters, My Lord, have mercy upon the weakness of my body, the thinness of my skin and the frailty of my bones. O You who gave rise to my creation, to the remembrance of me, to the nurture of me,

َ‫وَأَلْ َزمَنِي حُكْمُكَ وَبَالؤُك‬ َ‫وَقَدْ أَتَيْتُكَ يَا إِلَهِي َبعْد‬ ‫تَقْصِيرِي وَِإسْرَافِي عَلَى‬ ‫نَفْسِي‬ ،ً‫ُمعْتَذِراً نَّادِما‬ ً‫مُّنْكَسِراً مُّسْتَقِيال‬ ،ً‫مُّسْ َتغْفِراً مُّنِيبا‬ ً‫مُّقِرّاً مُّذْعِناً ُّمعْتَرِفا‬ ‫ال أَجِدُ مَفَرّاً مِّمَّا كَانَ مِنِّي‬ ‫َجهُ إِلَ ْيهِ في‬ َّ ‫وَال مَفْزَعاً أََتو‬ ‫َأمْرِي‬ ،‫ذرِي‬ ْ ُ‫غَيْرَ قَبُولِكَ ع‬ ٍ‫س َعة‬ َ ‫وَإِدخَاِلكَ إِيَاي فِي‬ َ‫مِّن رَّحْمَتِك‬ ‫ذرِي‬ ْ ُ‫اللَّهُمَّ فَاقْبَل ع‬ ‫وَارْحَمْ شِدَّةَ ضُرِّي‬ ‫وَفُكَّنِي مِن شَدِّ وَثَاقِي‬ ‫دنِي‬ َ َ‫ضعْفَ ب‬ َ ْ‫يَا رَبِّ ارْحَم‬ ‫ِقةَ عَظْمِي‬ َّ ‫جلْدِي وَد‬ ِ َ‫ِقة‬ َّ ‫َور‬ ‫خلْقِي وَذِكْرِي‬ َ َ‫يَا َمنْ بَدَأ‬

to goodness toward me and to nourishment on me, Bestow upon me for the sake of Your having given rise [to me] with generosity and Your previous goodness to me! O Allah, my Master and my Lord! Canst You see Yourself tormenting me with Your fire after I have professed Your Unity And after the knowledge of You my heart has embraced, And the remembrance of You my tongue has constantly mentioned And the love of You to which my mind has clung, And after the sincerity of my confession and my supplication, humble before Your lordship? Far be it from You! You art more generous than that You shouldst squander him whom You hast nurtured, Or banish him whom You hast brought nigh, Or drive away him whom You hast given an abode

‫وَتَ ْربِيَتِي َوبِرِّي وََتغْذِيَتِي‬ َ‫هَبْنِي البْتِدَاءِ كَ َرمِك‬ ‫َوسَاِلفِ بِرِّكَ بِي‬ ‫يَا إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي َورَبِّي‬ َ‫َذبِي بِنَارِكَ َبعْد‬ ِّ ‫أَتُرَاكَ ُمع‬ َ‫َتوْحِيدِك‬ ‫طوَى َعلَ ْيهِ َقلْبِي‬ َ ْ‫َوَبعْدَ مَا ان‬ َ‫مِن َّمعْرِفَتِك‬ َ‫وَلَهِجَ ِبهِ لِسَانِي ِمنْ ذِكْرِك‬ ْ‫وَاعْتَقَدَهُ ضَمِيرِي ِمن‬ َ‫حُبِّك‬ ‫َوَبعْدَ صِدْقِ اعْتِرَافِي‬ َ‫وَدُعَائِي خَاضِعاً لِّ ُربُوبِيَّتِك‬ ‫هَيْهَاتَ أَنتَ أَكْرَمُ ِمنْ أَن‬ ُ‫َيعَ مَن رَّبَّيْتَه‬ ِّ ‫تُض‬ ُ‫أَوْ تُ ْبعِدَ َمنْ أَ ْدنَيْتَه‬ ُ‫أَوْ تُشَرِّدَ َمنْ آوَيْتَه‬

Or submit to tribulation him whom You hast spared and shown mercy.

‫أَوْ تُسْلِّمَ إِلىَ الْبالءِ مَن‬

Would that I knew, my Master, My God and my

‫شعْرِي يَا سَيِّدِي‬ ِ َ‫وَلَيْت‬

ُ‫كَفَيْ َتهُ َورَحِمْتَه‬

Protector, Whether You wilt give the Fire dominion over faces fallen down prostrate before Your Tremendousness, And over tongues voicing sincerely the profession of Your Unity and giving thanks to You in praise, And over hearts acknowledging Your Divinity through verification, And over minds encompassing knowledge of You until they have become humble

And over bodily members speeding to the places of Your worship in obedience and beckoning for Your forgiveness in submission. No such opinion is held of You! Nor has such been reported - thanks to Your bounty — concerning You, O All-generous! My Lord, And You knowest my weakness before a little of this world's tribulations and punishments, And before those ordeals

‫وَإِلَهِي َو َموْالي‬ ٍ‫َلطُ النَّارَ َعلَى وُجُوه‬ ِّ ‫أَتُس‬ ً‫خَرَّتْ لِعَظَمَتِكَ سَاجِدَة‬ ْ‫سنٍ نَّطَقَت‬ ُ ْ‫وَّ َعلَى أَل‬ ً‫بِ َتوْحِيدِكَ صَادِ َقة‬ ً‫َّوبِشُكْرِكَ مَادِحَة‬ ْ‫وَّ َعلَى ُقلُوبٍ اعْتَرَفَت‬ ً‫ِبإِلَهِيَّتِكَ مُحَقِّقَة‬ َ‫وَّ َعلَى ضَمَائِرَ حَوَتْ ِمن‬ ْ‫اْل ِعلْمِ بِكَ حَتَّى صَارَت‬ ً‫شعَة‬ ِ ‫خَا‬ ‫سعَتْ إِلَى‬ َ َ‫وَّ َعلَى جَواِرح‬ ً‫أَوْطَانِ َتعَبُّدِكَ طَاِئ َعة‬ َ‫وََّأشَارَتْ بِاسْ ِتغْفَارِك‬ ً‫مُذْعِ َنة‬ ‫مَّا هَكَذَا الظَّنُّ بِكَ وَال‬ َ‫ضلِكَ عَنك‬ ْ َ‫أُخْبِ ْرنَا بِف‬ ِّ‫ يَا رَب‬،ُ‫يَا كَرِيم‬ ‫ضعْفِي عَن‬ َ ُ‫وَأَنتَ َت ْعلَم‬ ‫الدنْيَا‬ ُّ ِ‫َقلِيلٍ مِّن بَالء‬ ،‫وَعُقُوبَاتِهَا‬ َ‫َومَا يَجْرِي فِيهَا ِمن‬

which befall its inhabitants, Even though it is a tribulation and ordeal whose stay is short, whose subsistence is but little and, whose period is but fleeting. So how can I endure the tribulations of the next world and the great ordeals that occur within it? For it is a tribulation whose period is long, whose station endures and whose sufferers are given no respite,

Since it only occurs as a result of Your wrath, Your vengeance and Your anger, And these cannot be withstood by the heavens and the earth. O Master, so what about me?! For I am Your weak, lowly, base, wretched and miserable slave.

My God! My Lord! My Master! My Protector! For which things would I complain to You?

‫الْمَكَارِهِ َعلَى أَهْلِهَا‬ ،ٌ‫َعلَى أَنَّ ذَلِكَ بَالءٌ َّومَكْرُوه‬ ،ُ‫ يَسِيرٌ بَقَاؤُه‬،ُ‫َقلِيلٌ مَّكْ ُثه‬ ُ‫قَصِيرٌ مُّدَّتُه‬ ِ‫فَكَيْفَ احْتِمَاِلي لِبَالء‬ ِ‫جلِيلِ وُقُوع‬ َ َ‫اآلخِرَةِ و‬ !‫الْمَكَارِهِ فِيهَا‬ ،ُ‫وَ ُهوَ بَالءٌ تَطُولُ مُدَُّته‬ ُ‫ وَال يُخَفَّف‬،ُ‫وَيَدُومُ مَقَامُه‬ ِ‫َعنْ أَ ْه ِله‬ ْ‫ألََّنهُ ال يَكُونُ إِالَّ َعن‬ َ‫غَضَبِكَ وَانتِقَامِك‬ َ‫َوسَخَطِك‬ ُ‫وَهَذَا مَا ال تَقُومُ َله‬ ُ‫ألرْض‬ َ ‫السَّمَاوَاتُ وَا‬ ‫يَا سَيِّدِي فَكَيْفَ بِي‬ ُ‫الضعِيفُ الذَّلِيل‬ َّ َ‫وََأنَا عَبْدُك‬ ُ‫الْحَقِيرُ الْمِسْكِين‬ ُ‫الْمُسْتَكِين‬ ‫يَا إِلَهِي َورَبِّي َوسَيِّدِي‬ ‫َو َموْالي‬ ‫ألمُورِ إِلَيْكَ َأشْكُو‬ ُ ‫ألَيِّ ا‬

And for which of them would I lament and weep? For the pain and severity of chastisement? Or for the length and period of tribulation? So if You takest me to the punishments with Your enemies, And gatherest me with the people of Your tribulation And separatest me from Your friends and saints,

‫وَلِمَا مِنْهَا أَضِجُّ وََأبْكِي‬ !ِ‫ألَلِيمِ اْلعَذَابِ َوشِدَِّته‬ !ِ‫أَمْ لِطُولِ الْبَالءِ َومُدَِّته‬ ِ‫َفلَئِن صَيَّرْتَنِي ِل ْلعُقُوبَات‬ َ‫َمعَ أَعْدَائِك‬ ِ‫وَجَ َمعْتَ بَيْنِي َوبَ ْينَ أَهْل‬ َ‫بَالئِك‬ َ‫وَفَرَّقْتَ بَيْنِي َوبَ ْينَ أَحِبَّائِك‬ َ‫وَأَوْلِيَائِك‬ ‫فَهَبْنِي يَا إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي‬

Then suppose, My God, my Master, my Protector and my Lord that I am able to endure Your chastisement,

‫َو َموْالي َورَبِّي صَبَرْتُ َعلَى‬

How can I endure separation from You?

َ‫فَكَيْفَ أَصْبِرُ َعلَى فِرَاقِك‬

And suppose that I am able to endure the heat of Your fire, How can I endure not gazing upon Your generosity? Or how can I dwell in the Fire while my hope is Your pardon? So by Your might, my Master and my protector, I swear sincerely, if You leavest me with speech,

،َ‫عَذَابِك‬ ِّ‫وَهَبْنِي صَبَرْتُ َعلَى حَر‬ ،َ‫نَارِك‬ ‫فَكَيْفَ أَصْبِرُ َعنِ النَّظَرِ إِلَى‬ َ‫كَرَامَتِك‬ ِ‫كنُ فِي النَّار‬ ُ ْ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ َأس‬ َ‫َورَجَائِي عَ ْفوُك‬ ‫فَ ِبعِزَّتِكَ يَا سَيِّدِي َو َموْالي‬ ‫ لَئِن تَرَكْتَنِي‬،ً‫أُقْسِمُ صَادِقا‬

ً‫نَاطِقا‬ I will lament to You from the midst of the Fire's inhabitants with lamentation of the hopeful; I will cry to You with the cry of those crying for help; I will weep to You with the weeping of the bereft;

‫ألَضِجَّنَّ إِلَيْكَ بَ ْينَ أَ ْهلِهَا‬ َ‫ضَجِيجَ اآل ِملِين‬ َ‫وَألَصْرُخَنَّ إِلَيكَ صُرَاخ‬ َ‫المُسْتَصْرِخِين‬ َ‫ألبْكِيَنَّ َعلَيْكَ بُكَاء‬ َ َ‫و‬ َ‫الفَاقِدِين‬

And I will call to You, Where art You, O Sponsor of the believers,

‫ألنَادِيَنَّكَ أَْينَ كُنتَ يَا‬ ُ َ‫و‬

O Goal of the hopes of Your knowers, O Aid of those who seek assistance, O Friend of the hearts of the sincere And O God of all the world's inhabitants! Canst You see Yourself — Glory be to You My God, and Thine is the praised — hearing within the Fire the voice of a slave surrendered to You, Imprisoned there because of his violations,

َ‫يَا غَاَيةَ آمَاِل العَارِفِين‬

Tasting the favour of its torment because of his disobedience, And confined within its levels because of his sin and crime,

َ‫وَلِيَّ الْ ُم ْؤمِنِين‬ َ‫يَا غِيَاثَ المُسْ َتغِيثِين‬ َ‫يَا حَبِيبَ ُقلُوبِ الصَّادِقِين‬ َ‫وَيَا إَِلهَ العَالَمِين‬ ‫ سُبْحَانَكَ يَا إِلَهِي‬،َ‫أَفَتُرَاك‬ ‫ تَسْ َمعُ فِيهَا‬،َ‫َوبِحَمْدِك‬ ٍ‫سلِم‬ ْ ُّ‫صوْتَ عَبْدٍ م‬ َ ِ‫جنَ فِيهَا بِمُخَالَفَتِه‬ ِ ُ‫س‬ ‫وَذَاقَ َطعْمَ عَذَابِهَا‬ ِ‫بِ َمعْصِيَ ِته‬ ‫وَحُبِسَ بَ ْينَ أَطْبَاقِهَا‬ ِ‫بِجُ ْر ِمهِ وَجَرِيرَتِه‬

While he laments to You with the lament of one hopeful for Your mercy, And calls to You with the tongue of those who profess Your Unity And entreats You by Your lordship! My Protector, so how should he remain in the chastisement, while he has hope for Your previous clemency? Or how should the Fire cause him pain while he expects Your bounty and mercy? Or how should its flames burn him, while You hearest his voice and seest his place? Or how should its groaning encompass him, while You knowest his weakness? Or how should he be convulsed among its levels, while You knowest his sincerity? Or how should its keepers torture him while he calls out to You, O Lord? Or how should he have hope of Your bounty in freeing him from it, while You abandonest him within it?

َ‫وَ ُهوَ يَضِجُّ إلَيْكَ ضَجِيج‬ َ‫ُمؤَمِّلٍ لِّرَحْمَتِك‬ ِ‫وَيُنَادِيكَ ِبلِسَانِ أَهْل‬ َ‫َتوْحِيدِك‬ َ‫وَيَ َتوَسَّلُ إلَيْكَ بِ ُربُوبِيَّتِك‬ ‫يَا َموْالي فَكَيْفَ يَبقَى فِي‬ َ‫سلَف‬ َ ‫اْلعَذَابِ وَ ُهوَ يَرْجُو مَا‬ َ‫حلْمِك‬ ِ ْ‫ِمن‬ َ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ ُتؤْلِ ُمهُ النَّارُ وَ ُهو‬ َ‫ضلَكَ وَرَحْمَتَك‬ ْ َ‫يَامَلُ ف‬ ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يُحْرِ ُقهُ لَهِيبُهَا‬ ‫صوَْتهُ وَتَرَى‬ َ ُ‫وَأَنتَ تَسْ َمع‬ ُ‫مَكَاَنه‬ ِ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يَشْتَمِلُ َعلَ ْيه‬ ُ‫ضعْ َفه‬ َ ُ‫زَفِيرُهَا وَأَنتَ َت ْعلَم‬ َ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يَتَ َقلْقَلُ بَ ْين‬ ُ‫أَطْبَاقِهَا وَأَنتَ َت ْعلَمُ صِدْقَه‬ ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ تَزْجُرُهُ َزبَانِيَتُهَا‬ ُ‫وَ ُهوَ يُنَادِيكَ يَا رَبَّه‬ ‫ضلَكَ فِي‬ ْ َ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يَرْجُو ف‬ ‫عِتْ ِقهِ مِنْهَا فَتَتْرُ ُكهُ فِيهَا‬

Far be it from You! That is not what is expected of You, Nor what is well-known of Your bounty, Nor it is similar to the goodness and kindness You hast shown to those who profess Your Unity. So I declare with certainty that were it not for what You hast decreed concerning the chastisement of Your deniers And what You hast foreordained concerning the everlasting home of those who stubbornly resist, You wouldst make the Fire, all of it, coolness and safety, And no one would have a place of rest or abode within it. But You—holy are Your Names—hast sworn that You wilt fill it with the unbelievers, Both Jinn and men together, And that You wilt place those who stubbornly resist therein forever. And You— majestic is Your eulogy— said at the beginning and wernt gracious through kindness as a favour,

َ‫هَيهَاتَ مَا ذَلِكَ الظَّنُّ بِك‬ َ‫ضلِك‬ ْ َ‫وَال الْ َمعْرُوفُ مِن ف‬ ِ‫وَال مُشْ ِبهٌ لِمَا عَا َملْتَ ِبه‬ َ‫الْ ُموَحِّدِينَ ِمنْ بِرِّك‬ َ‫وَإِحْسَانِك‬ ‫طعُ َلوْال مَا‬ َ ْ‫فَبِالْيَقِينِ أَق‬ ِ‫حَكَمْتَ ِبهِ مِن َتعْذِيب‬ َ‫جَاحِدِيك‬ ِ‫وَقَضَيْتَ ِبهِ ِمنْ إِخْالَد‬ َ‫ُمعَانِدِيك‬ ً‫ج َعلْتَ النَّارَ كُلَّهَا بَرْدا‬ َ َ‫ل‬ ،ً‫َّوسَالَما‬ ً‫َومَا كَانَ ألَحَدٍ فِيهَا مَقَرّا‬ ً‫وَّال مُقَاما‬ َ‫َدسَتْ َأسْمَاؤُك‬ َّ ‫لَّكِنَّكَ تَق‬ َ‫أَقْسَمْتَ أَنْ تَمْألَهَا ِمن‬ ،َ‫الْكَافِرِين‬ َ‫ِنةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْ َمعِين‬ َّ ‫ِمنَ الْج‬ َ‫وَأَن تُخَلِّدَ فِيهَا الْ ُمعَانِدِين‬ َ‫وَأَنتَ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ ُقلْت‬ ِ‫إلْنعَام‬ ِ ‫ وَّتَطَوَّلْتَ بِا‬،ً‫مُبْتَدَئا‬

:ً‫مُتَكَرِّما‬ (What? Is he who has been believer like unto him who has been ungodly? They are not equal)

        

My God and my Master! So I ask You by the power You hast apportioned

َ‫إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي فَأَسْألُك‬

And by the decision which You hast determined and imposed and through which You hast overcome him toward whom it has been put into effect,

‫ِيةِ الَّتِي حَتَمْتَهَا‬ َّ ‫َوبِالْقَض‬

That You forgivest me in this night and at this hour Every offence I have committed, And every sin I have performed, And every ugly thing I have concealed And every folly I have enacted Whether I have hidden or announced it, Or I have concealed it or manifested it And every evil act which You hast commanded the Noble Writers to record, Those whom You hast appointed to watch over what appears from me And whom You hast made, along with my bodily

‫َدرْتَهَا‬ َّ ‫درَةِ الَّتِي ق‬ ْ ُ‫بِالْق‬ ِ‫وَحَكَمْتَهَا وَ َغلَبْتَ َمنْ َعلَ ْيه‬ ‫أَجْرَيْتَهَا‬ ِ‫ فِي هذِه‬،‫أَن تَهَبَ لِي‬ ِ‫ وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّاعَة‬،ِ‫اللَّ ْي َلة‬ ُ‫كُلَّ جُرْمٍ أَجْ َرمْتُه‬ ُ‫وَكُلَّ َذنْبٍ أَ ْذنَبْتُه‬ ُ‫وَكُلَّ قَبِيحٍ َأسْ َررُْته‬ ،ُ‫وَكُلَّ جَهْلٍ عَ ِملْ ُته‬ ،ُ‫كَتَمْ ُتهُ أَوْ أَ ْعلَن ُته‬ ُ‫أَخفَيْ ُتهُ أَوْ أَظْهَرُْته‬ ‫وَكُلَّ سَيِّ َئةٍ َأمَرْتَ ِبإِثْبَاتِهَا‬ َ‫الْكِرَامَ الكَاتِبِين‬ ‫َكلْتَهُم بِحِ ْفظِ مَا‬ َّ ‫الَّذِينَ و‬ ‫يَكُونُ مِنِّي‬ َ‫ج َعلْتَهُمْ شُهُوداً عَلَيَّ َمع‬ َ َ‫و‬

members, witness against me. And You wast Yourself the Watcher over me from behind them, And the Witness of what is hidden from them But through Your mercy You concealed it And through Your bounty You veiled it. [And I ask You] that You bestowest upon me an abundant share of every good You sendest down,

،‫جوَارِحِي‬ َ َّ‫وَكُنتَ أَنتَ الرَّقِيبَ َعلَي‬ ،ْ‫مِن َّورَائِهِم‬ ،ْ‫وَالشَّاهِدَ لِمَا خَفِي عَنْهُم‬ ،ُ‫َوبِرَحْمَتِكَ أَخْفَيْ َته‬ ُ‫وَبفَضْلِكَ سَتَرَْته‬ ِّ‫وَأَن ُتوَفِّرَ حَظِّي مِن كُل‬ ،ُ‫خَيْرٍ تُنْزُِله‬

Or kindness You conferrest,

ُ‫ضلُه‬ ِ ْ‫أَوْ إِحْسَانٍ تُف‬

Or goodness You unfoldest,

،ُ‫أَوْ بِرٍّ تَنْشِرُه‬

Or provision You spreadest out,

ُ‫أَوْ ِرزْقٍ تَبْسُطُه‬

Or sin You forgivest,

ُ‫أَوْ َذنْبٍ َتغْفِرُه‬

Or error You coverest.

ُ‫أَوْ خَطَأٍ تَسْتُرُه‬

My Lord! My Lord! My Lord! My God! My Master! My Protector! Owner of my bondage! O He in whose hand is my forelock! O He who knows my affliction and my misery! O He who is aware of my poverty and indigence! My Lord! My Lord! My Lord! I ask You by Your Truth and Your Holiness

ِّ‫يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَب‬ ‫يَا إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي َو َموْالي‬ ‫َومَاِلكَ رِقِّي‬ ‫يَا َمنْ بِيَدِهِ نَاصِيَتِي‬ ‫يَا َعلِيماً بِضُرِّي َومَسْكَنَتِي‬ ‫يَا خَبِيراً بِفَقْرِي وَفَاقَتِي‬ ِّ‫يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَب‬ َ‫َأسْألُكَ بِحَقِّكَ وَقُدْسِك‬

And the greatest of Your Attributes and Names, That You makest my times in the night and the day inhabited by Your remembrance, And joined to Your service And my works acceptable to You, So that my works and my litanies may all be a single litany And my occupation with Your service everlasting. My Master! O He upon whom I depend! O He to whom I complain about my states! My Lord! My Lord! My Lord! Strengthen my bodily members in Your service, And fortify my ribs in determination And bestow upon me earnestness in my fear of You And continuity in my being joined to Your service So that I may move easily toward You in the battlefields of the foremost

َ‫وَأَعْظَمِ صِفَاتِكَ وَأَسْمَائِك‬ ِ‫جعَلَ أَوْقَاتِي فِي اللَّيل‬ ْ َ‫أن ت‬ ،ً‫وَالنَّهَارِ بِذِكْرِكَ َمعْمُورَة‬ ،ً‫دمَتِكَ َموْصُوَلة‬ ْ ِ‫َوبِخ‬ ،ً‫وَّأَعْمَاِلي عِنْدَكَ مَقْبُوَلة‬ ‫حَتَّى تَكُونَ أَعْمَاِلي‬ ،ً‫وَأَ ْورَادِي كُلُّهَا ِورْداً وَّاحِدا‬ ً‫دمَتِكَ سَ ْرمَدا‬ ْ ِ‫وَّحَاِلي فِي خ‬ ِ‫ يَا مَنْ َعلَ ْيه‬،‫يَا سَيِّدِي‬ ‫ُمعَوَّلِي‬ ‫حوَاِلي‬ ْ َ‫كوْتُ أ‬ َ َ‫يَا َمنْ إلَ ْيهِ ش‬ ِّ‫يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَب‬ ‫جوَارِحِي‬ َ َ‫دمَتِك‬ ْ ِ‫قَوِّ َعلَى خ‬ ِ‫وَاشْدُدْ عَلىَ اْلعَزِي َمة‬ ‫جوَانِحِي‬ َ ‫وَهَبْ لِي الْجِدَّ فِي‬ َ‫خَشْيَتِك‬ ‫وَالدَّوَامَ فِي اإلتِّصَاِل‬ َ‫دمَتِك‬ ْ ِ‫بِخ‬ ‫حَتَّى َأسْ َرحَ إِلَيكَ فِي‬ َ‫مَيَادِينِ السَّابِقِين‬

And hurry to You among the prominent And desire fervently Your proximity among the fervently desirous And move nearer to You with the nearness of the sincere And fear You with the fear of those who have certitude And gather with the believers in Your vicinity. O Allah, whoever desires evil for me, desire [it] for him! whoever deceives medeceive him! And make me one of the most excellent of Your slaves in Portion from You, And the nearest of them in station to You And the most elected of them in proximity to You. For that cannot be attained except by Your bounty. And grant generously to me through Your munificence, And incline toward me with Your splendour And protect me with Your mercy! And make my tongue remember You without

‫وَُأسْرِعَ إلَيْكَ فِي‬ َ‫الْمبُا ِدرِين‬ ‫وََأشْتَاقَ إلىَ قُرْبِكَ فِي‬ َ‫الْمُشْتَاقِين‬ َ‫خلِصِين‬ ْ ُ‫وَأَ ْدُنوَ مِنْكَ ُدنُوَّ الْم‬ َ‫وَأَخَافَكَ مَخَا َفةَ الْمُوقِنِين‬ َ‫جوَارِكَ َمع‬ ِ ‫وَأَجْتَ ِمعَ فِي‬ َ‫الْ ُمؤْمنِين‬ ‫اللَّهُمَّ َو َمنْ َأرَا َدنِي بِسُوٍء‬ ُ‫فَ َأرِدْه‬ ُ‫َومَن كَا َدنِي فَكِدْه‬ ِ‫سن‬ َ َ‫ج َعلْنِي ِمنْ أَح‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ َ‫عَبِيدِكَ نَصِيباً عِنْدَك‬ َ‫وَأَقْ َربِهِم مَّنْزَِلةً مِّنْك‬ َ‫وَأَخَصِّهِمْ زُلْ َفةً لَّديْك‬ َّ‫َفإَِّنهُ ال يُنَالُ ذَلِكَ إِال‬ َ‫ضلِك‬ ْ َ‫بِف‬ َ‫وَجُدْ لِي بِجُودِك‬ َ‫وَاعْطِفْ عَلَيَّ بِمَجْدِك‬ َ‫وَاحْفَظْنِي بِرَحْمَتِك‬ َ‫وَاجْعَل لِّسَانِي بِذِكْرِك‬

ceasing And my heart enthralled by Your love! And be gracious to me by answering me favourably, And nullify my slips And forgive my lapses! For You hast decreed Your worship for Your servants And commanded them to supplicate You And assured them that they would be answered. So toward You, my Lord, I have turned my face And toward You, my Lord, I have extended my hand. So by Your might, comply with my supplication And make me attain my desires! Do not severe my hoping for Your Favours And spare me the evil of my enemies from among the jinn and men! O He, whose pleasure is quickly achieved! Forgive him who owns nothing but supplication

ً‫لَهِجا‬ ً‫وَّ َقلْبِي بِحُبِّكَ مُتَيَّما‬ َ‫سنِ إِجَابَتِك‬ ْ ُ‫َّومُنَّ َعلَيَّ بِح‬ ‫وَأَ ِقلْنِي عَثْرَتِي‬ ‫وَاغْفِرْ زَلَّتِي‬ َ‫َفإِنَّكَ قَضَيْتَ َعلَى عِبَادِك‬ َ‫ِبعِبَادَتِك‬ َ‫وََأمَرْتَهُم بِدُعَائِك‬ َ‫وَضَمِنتَ لَهُمُ اإلِجَابَة‬ ُ‫َفإِلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ نَصَبْت‬ ‫وَجْهِي‬ ‫وَإلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ مَدَدتُّ يَدِي‬ ‫فَ ِبعِزَّتِكَ اسْتَجِبْ لِي‬ ‫دُعَائِي‬ ‫َلغْنِي مُنَاي‬ ِّ ‫َوب‬ َ‫طعْ مِن فَضْلِك‬ َ ْ‫وَال تَق‬ ‫رَجَائِي‬ ِ‫إلنْس‬ ِ ‫وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّ الْجِنِّ وَا‬ ‫ِمنْ أَعْدَائِي‬ ‫يَا سَرِيعَ الرِّضَا‬ َّ‫اغْفِرْ لِمَن ال يَ ْملِكُ إِال‬

َ‫الدُّعَاء‬ For You dost what You wilt. O He whose Name is a remedy,

ُ‫َفإِنَّكَ فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا تَشَاء‬ ٌ‫يَا َمنْ اسْ ُمهُ دَوَاء‬

And whose remembrance is a cure,

ٌ‫وَذِكْرُهُ شِفَاء‬

And whose obedience is wealth! Have mercy upon him whose capital is hope

‫وَطَاعَ ُتهُ غِنًى‬

And whose weapon is tears!

ُ‫ارْحَم مَّن رَّأْسُ مَاِلهِ الرَّجَاء‬ ُ‫حهُ الْبُكَاء‬ ُ َ‫َوسِال‬

O Ample in blessings!

ِ‫النعَم‬ ِّ َ‫يَا سَاِبغ‬

O Repeller of adversities!

ِ‫يَا دَا ِفعَ النِّقَم‬

O Light of those who are lonely in the darkness! O Knower who was never taught! Bless Muhammad and Muhammad's household!

And do with me what is worthy of You! And Allah bless His messenger and the holy Imams of his household

And give them abundant peace!

‫يَا نُورَ الْمُسْ َتوْحِشِينَ فِي‬ ِ‫الظلَم‬ ُّ ُ‫يَا عَالِماً ال ُيعَلَّم‬ ِ‫صَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآل‬ ٍ‫مُحَمَّد‬ ُ‫وا ْفعَلْ بِي مَا أَنتَ أَ ْهلُه‬ ِ‫اللهُ َعلَى َرسُوِله‬ َّ ‫وَصَلَّى‬ ِ‫ِمةِ الْمَيَامِينَ ِمنْ آلِه‬ َّ ‫ألئ‬ َ ‫وَا‬ ً‫سلِيماً كَثِيرا‬ ْ َ‫َوسَلَّمَ ت‬

Imam Jaa’far bin Muhammad As Sadiq (A.S.) had advised the faithfuls to pray a 2 Raka’t Namaaz tonight, after Ishaa prayers, as under: In the first Raka’t recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Kaafiroon. In the second Raka’t recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Ikhlaas. When you accomplish the prayer, you may repeat (the phrase of) ‘sub¦anallah’ thirty-three times, (the phrase of) ‘al¦amdulillah’ thirty-three times, and (the phrase of) ‘allahu-akbar’ thirty-four times. You may then say the following supplication: O He to Whom the servants (of Him) resort in urgencies and to Whom the creatures turn in ordeals; O He Who knows the open and the hidden matters; O He from Whom neither the ideas of illusions nor the initiatives of delusions can be concealed; O the Lord of creatures and beings; O He Who grasps the kingdoms of the earth and the heavens; You are verily Allah; there is no god save You; I thus try to connect with you in the name of ‘There is no god save You’ So, O He save Whom there is no god: (please) include me at this night with those at whom You have looked and thus You have mercy upon them;

‫يَا َمنْ إلَ ْيهِ َملْجَأُ اْلعِبَادِ فِي‬ ،ِ‫الْمُهِمَّات‬ ‫خلْقُ فِي‬ َ ْ‫وَإلَ ْيهِ يَفْزَعُ ال‬ ،ِ‫الْ ُملِمَّات‬ ،ِ‫يَا عَالِمَ الْجَهْرِ وَالْخَفِيَّات‬ ِ‫يَا َمنْ ال تَخْفَى َعلَ ْيه‬ ُ‫خوَاطِرُ األَوْهَامِ وَتَصَرُّف‬ َ ،ِ‫الْخَطَرَات‬ ،ِ‫يَارَبَّ الْخَالئِقِ وَالْبَرِيَّات‬ ُ‫يَا َمنْ بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوت‬ ،ِ‫ألرَضِينَ وَالسَّمَاوَات‬ َ‫ا‬ ،َ‫َأنْتَ ال ّلهُ ال إلهَ إالَّ َأنْت‬ ،َ‫َأمُتُّ إلَيْكَ بِال إلهَ إالَّ َأنْت‬ ‫ج َعلْنِي‬ ْ ‫فَيَا ال إلهَ إالَّ َأنْتَ ا‬ َ‫فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلةِ مِمَّنْ نَظَرْت‬ ،ُ‫إلَ ْيهِ فَرَحِمْ َته‬

and with those whose prayers have been heard by You and thus You have responded to them; and with those whose true repentance has been admitted by You and thus You have accepted it; and You have thus overlooked their past sins and enormous offenses. verily, I am seeking Your shelter against my sins,

،ُ‫َوسَ ِمعْتَ دُعَاءَهُ فَأَجَبْ َته‬ ،ُ‫وَ َعلِمْتَ اسْتِقَالَ َتهُ فَأَ َقلْ َته‬ ِ‫وَتَجَا َوزْتَ َعنْ سَالِف‬ ،ِ‫خَطِيئَ ِتهِ وَعَظِيمِ جَرِيرَِته‬ ْ‫فَقَدِ اسْتَجَرْتُ بِكَ ِمن‬ ،‫ُذنُوبِي‬

and I am resorting to You so that You may conceal my defects.

ِ‫وَلَجَأْتُ إلَيْكَ فِي سَتْر‬

O Allah: (please) bestow lavishly upon me with Your generosity and Favor;

َ‫اللّهُمَّ فَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِكَ َرمِك‬

and condone my misdeeds out of Your forbearance and pardon,

َ‫حلْمِك‬ ِ ِ‫ططْ خَطَايَايَ ب‬ ُ ْ‫وَاح‬

and encompass me, at this night, with Your opulent honoring,

ِ‫دنِي فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلة‬ ْ َّ‫وََتغَم‬

and include me at this night with Your intimate servants whom You have selected for obeying You, and whom You have chosen for worshipping You, and whom You have made Your elite and select people.

.‫عُيُوبِي‬ ،َ‫وَفَضلِك‬ ،َ‫وَعَ ْفوِك‬ ،َ‫بِسَاِبغِ كَرَامَتِك‬ َ‫ج َعلْنِي فِيهَا ِمنْ أَوْلِيَائِك‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ ،َ‫الَّذِينَ اجْتَبَيْتَهُمْ لِطَاعَتِك‬ ،َ‫وَاخْتَرْتَهُمْ ِلعِبَادَتِك‬ َ‫ج َعلْتَهُمْ خَالِصَتَك‬ َ َ‫و‬ .َ‫وَصِ ْفوَتَك‬

O Allah: (please) make me of those whose efforts are of a happy end,

َ‫سعَد‬ َ ْ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّن‬ ْ ‫اللّهُمَّ ا‬

and those whose shares of good things are big, and make me of those who enjoy blissful life as they have been safe (from sins) and those who have been awarded excellently as they have won, and rescue me from the evil consequences of what I have committed,

،ُ‫وََتوَفَّرَ ِمنَ الْخَيْرَاتِ حَظُّه‬

and save me from doing more acts of disobedience to You, and make me love the acts of obedience to You and whatever draws me near You and approaches me toward You. O my Master: a fugitive resorts to none save You, and a needy begs none save You, and only on Your generosity does a repentant, contrite one depends You have disciplined Your servants by means of generosity; and You are verily the most Generous of all those who are generous. and You have instructed Your servants to pardon; and You are verily the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.

،ُ‫جَدُّه‬ ،َ‫سلِمَ فَ َنعِم‬ َ ْ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّن‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ ،َ‫وَفَازَ َفغَنِم‬ ،ُ‫سلَفْت‬ ْ ‫وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّ مَا َأ‬ ‫وَاعْصِمْنِي ِمنَ اإلزْدِيَادِ فِي‬ ،َ‫َمعْصِيَتِك‬ ‫وَحَبِّبْ إلَيَّ طَاعَتَكَ َومَا‬ ‫يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنْكَ وَيُزْلِفُنِي‬ .َ‫عِنْدَك‬ ،ُ‫سَيِّدِي إلَيْكَ َيلْجَأُ الْهَارِب‬ ،ُ‫َومِنْكَ َيلْتَمِسُ الطَّالِب‬ ُ‫وَ َعلَى كَ َرمِكَ ُيعَوِّل‬ ،ُ‫الْمُسْتَقِيلُ التَّائِب‬ َ‫أَدَّبْتَ عِبَادَكَ بِالتَّكَرُّمِ وََأنْت‬ ،َ‫أَكْرَمُ األَكْ َرمِين‬ َ‫وََأمَرْتَ بِالْعَ ْفوِ عِبَادَكَ وََأنْت‬ .ُ‫اْلغَفُورُ الرَّحِيم‬

O Allah: (please) do not deprive me of Your generosity for which I hope, and do not make me despair of Your opulent bounties, and do not disappoint me of Your abundant sustenance that You decide, this night, for those who are obedient to You, and include me with Your protection against Your evil creatures. O my Lord: If I do not deserve so, then You are worthy of acting generously to me, and pardoning and forgiving me, and (please) bestow upon me magnanimously according to that which befits You, not according to what I deserve, verily, I carry an excellent opinion about You, and I do hope for You, and my self is hanged to the rope of Your generosity, for You are verily the most Merciful of all those who show mercy, and You are the most Generous of all those who are generous.

‫اللّهُمَّ فَال تَحْ ِرمْنِي مَا‬ ،َ‫جوْتُ ِمنْ كَ َرمِك‬ َ َ‫ر‬ ِ‫وَال ُتؤْيِسْنِي ِمنْ سَاِبغ‬ ،َ‫ِنعَمِك‬ ِ‫وَال تُخَيِّبْنِي ِمنْ جَزِيل‬ ِ‫قِسَمِكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلة‬ ،َ‫ألهْلِ طَاعَتِك‬ ِ‫ج َعلْنِي فِي جُنَّةٍ ِمنْ شِرَار‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ ،َ‫بَرِيَّتِك‬ ِ‫رَبِّ إنْ لَمْ أَ ُكنْ ِمنْ أَهْل‬ ِ‫ذلِكَ فَ َأنْتَ أَهْلُ الْكَرَم‬ ،ِ‫وَاْلعَ ْفوِ وَالْ َمغْفِرَة‬ ‫وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا َأنْتَ أَ ْه ُلهُ ال‬ ،ُ‫بِمَا َأسْتَحِقُّه‬ ،َ‫سنَ ظَنِّي بِك‬ ُ َ‫فَقَدْ ح‬ ،َ‫وَتَحَقَّقَ رَجَائِي لَك‬ َ‫وَ َعلِقَتْ نَفْسِي بِكَ َرمِك‬ ،َ‫فَ َأنْتَ َأرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِين‬ .َ‫وَأَكْرَمُ األَكْ َرمِين‬

O Allah: (please) confer upon me exclusively with an abundant share of what You decide, out of Your generosity, and I seek refuge with Your pardon against Your chastisement,

ْ‫اللّهُمَّ وَاخْصُصْنِي ِمن‬ ،َ‫كَ َرمِكَ بِجَزِيلِ قِسَمِك‬ ،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ ِبعَ ْفوِكَ ِمنْ عُقُوبَتِك‬

and (please) forgive me the sin that prevents me from enjoying high morals,

‫وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذَّنْبَ الَّذِي‬

and suppresses my sustenance,

َ‫وَيُضَيِّقُ َعلَيَّ ال ّرزْق‬

so that I will do that which excellently achieves Your satisfaction and I will enjoy Your profuse granting, and I will be delighted by Your abundant bounties. I am having recourse to Your sanctity, and I am asking for Your generosity,

،َ‫خلُق‬ ُ ْ‫يَحْبِسُ َعلَيَّ ال‬ ،َ‫حَتَّى أَقُومَ بِصَالِحِ رِضَاك‬ ،َ‫وََأْنعَمَ بِجَزِيلِ عَطَائِك‬ ،َ‫سعَدَ بِسَابِغِ َنعْمَائِك‬ ْ ‫وََأ‬ ،َ‫فَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِحَ َرمِك‬ ،َ‫وََتعَرَّضْتُ لِكَ َرمِك‬

and I am taking shelter in Your pardon against Your punishment,

ْ‫وَاسْ َتعَذْتُ ِبعَ ْفوِكَ ِمن‬

and in Your forbearance against Your ire. So, (please) bestow upon me generously with that which I have asked from You, and confer upon me with that which I have begged from You,

،َ‫حلْمِكَ ِمنْ غَضَبِك‬ ِ ِ‫َوب‬

I beseech You in Your name, since there is nothing great that You are.

،َ‫عُقُوبَتِك‬ ،َ‫فَجُدْ بِمَا سَأَلْتُك‬ ،َ‫وََأنِلْ مَا الْتَمَسْتُ مِنْك‬ َ‫َأسْأَلُكَ بِكَ ال بِشَيْءٍ ُهو‬ .َ‫أَعْظَمُ مِنْك‬

You may prostrate yourself and repeat the following 20 times:

O my Lord!

.ِّ‫يَا رَب‬

And then repeat the following seven times: O Allah!

.ُ‫يَا اَهلل‬

And then repeat the following seven times: There is neither might nor power save with Allah.

َّ‫حوْلَ وَال قُوَّةَ إال‬ َ ‫ال‬ .ِ‫بِال ّله‬

And then repeat the following ten times: Only that which Allah .ٌُ‫مَا شَاءَ اهلل‬ wants (will be). And then repeat the following ten times: There is no power save .ِ‫ال قُوَّةَ إالَّ بِال ّله‬ with Allah. You may then pray Allah (swt) for sending blessings upon the Holy Prophet and ask for settling your requests.

Shaykh al-±£siy and Shaykh al-Kaf`amiy say: It is suitable to say the following supplication at this night; it is advisable to recite it after the Shaf prayer of Salatul Layl. O Allah: tonight the seekers of favors, restless and eager, present themselves to You;

‫إلهِي َتعَرَّضَ لَكَ فِي هذَا‬

the determined aspirers have You in mind;

،َ‫وَقَصَدَكَ الْقَاصِدُون‬

those who make requests look long and attentively at Your obligingness and kindness; You, in this night, give gifts, bounties beyond measure, free donations, and favors, to those whom You will from among Your servants when they make a request, and say no to those who do not try to get in advance (remain behind) for obtaining the bounties from You. I, a modest needy bondman, am hopeful of Your obligingness and kindness. Indeed if You, O My Master, bestows a favor on any one, in this night, from among Your created beings, and multiply profits and gains for him out of love and affection,

،َ‫اللَّيْلِ الْمُ َتعَرِّضُون‬ َ‫وَأَمَّلَ فَضْلَكَ َو َمعْرُوفَك‬ ،َ‫الطَّالِبُون‬ ٌ‫وَلَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ نَفَحَات‬ ُ‫جوَائِز‬ َ َ‫و‬ ُ‫وَعَطَايَا َو َموَاهِب‬ ْ‫تَمُنُّ بِهَا َعلَى َمنْ تَشَاءُ ِمن‬ ،َ‫عِبَادِك‬ ُ‫وَتَمْ َنعُهَا َمنْ لَمْ تَسْبِقْ َله‬ ،َ‫اْلعِنَاَيةُ مِنْك‬ َ‫وَهَا َأنَا ذَا عُبَيْدُكَ الْفَقِيرُ إلَيْك‬ ،َ‫الْ ُمؤَمِّلُ فَضْلَكَ َو َمعْرُوفَك‬ َ‫فَإنْ كُنْتَ يَا َموْاليَ تَفَضَّلْت‬ ْ‫فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلةِ َعلَى أَحَدٍ ِمن‬ َ‫خلْقِك‬ َ ْ‫وَعُدْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ ِبعَائِدَةٍ ِمن‬ َ‫عَطْفِك‬

please send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad: the pure, the immaculate, the virtuous, and the righteous; and then let me have enough and be contented on account of Your liberality and obligingness, O Lord of the worlds! May Allah send blessings upon Mu¦ammad, the seal of the Prophets,

ٍ‫فَصَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬ َ‫الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْخَيِّرِين‬ ،َ‫ضلِين‬ ِ ‫الْفَا‬ َ‫طوْلِكَ َو َمعْرُوفِك‬ َ ِ‫وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ ب‬ ،َ‫يَا رَبَّ اْلعَالَمِين‬ ِ‫وَصَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَم‬ َ‫النَّبِيِّين‬

and upon his Household, the immaculate,

َ‫وَآِلهِ الطَّاهِرِين‬

and may He exalt them very much.

ً‫سلِيما‬ ْ َ‫َوسَلَّمَ ت‬

verily, Allah is worthy of all praise, full of all glory. O Allah: I am praying You as You ordered me to do, So, (please) respond to me as You promised. verily, You never break Your promise.

.ٌ‫إنَّ ال ّلهَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيد‬ َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَدْعُوكَ كَمَا َأمَرْت‬ َ‫فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي كَمَا وَعَدْت‬ .َ‫خلِفُ الْمِيعَاد‬ ْ ُ‫إنَّكَ ال ت‬

Dua of Holy Prophet in Sajdah after Salatul Layl

Prostrating before You are my body and my shadow and my heart is in full faith of You These are my two hands and this is what I have committed against myself, O the All-great: You are hoped for all enormous things; Please, forgive me my serious offences because none can forgive the serious sin except the All-great Lord.

‫سوَادِي‬ َ َ‫سَجَدَ لَك‬ ،‫وَخَيَالِي‬ ،‫وَآ َمنَ بِكَ ُفؤَادِي‬ ُ‫هذِهِ يَدَايَ َومَا جَنَيْ ُته‬ ،‫َعلَى نَفْسِي‬ ِّ‫يَا عَظِيمُ تُرْجَى لِكُل‬ ٍ‫عَظِيم‬ َ‫اغْفِرْ لِيَ الْعَظِيم‬ َ‫فَإنَّهُ ال َيغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ اْلعَظِيم‬ .ُ‫إالَّ الرَّبُّ اْلعَظِيم‬

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then raised his head and then prostrated himself again, saying: I seek the protection of the light of Your Face that has lit the heavens and the earth and has removed all darkness and has made active all the affairs of the past and the coming generations against Your sudden chastisement and against withdrawing the good health that You have granted me

‫أَعُوذُ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي‬ ُ‫أَضَاءَتْ َلهُ السَّمَاوَات‬ ،َ‫ألرَضُون‬ َ ‫وَا‬ ،ُ‫وَانْكَشَفَتْ َلهُ الظُّلُمَات‬ َ‫صلَحَ َعلَ ْيهِ َأمْرُ األَوَّلِين‬ َ َ‫و‬ َ‫وَاآلخِرِين‬ ،َ‫ِمنْ فُجْأَةِ نَقِمَتِك‬ ،َ‫حوِيلِ عَافِيَتِك‬ ْ َ‫وَ ِمنْ ت‬

and against the vanishing of Your bounties. O Allah: (please) grant me a heart that is pious and pure,

.َ‫َو ِمنْ زَوَالِ ِنعْمَتِك‬ ً‫اللّهُمَّ ا ْرزُقْنِي َقلْباً تَقِيّا‬ ً‫نَقِيّا‬

and is released from ً‫َو ِمنَ الشِّرْكِ بَرِيئا‬ polytheism, and is neither atheist nor .ً‫ال كَافِراً وَال شَقِيّا‬ unhappy. The Holy Prophet (a.s) then attached his face to the ground and said: I am putting my face on the ground and it is my duty to prostrate myself before You

‫عَفَّرْتُ وَجْهِي فِي‬ ِ‫التُّرَاب‬ َ‫وَحُقَّ لِي أَنْ َأسْجُدَ لَك‬

Imam Muhammad Al Baqir and Imam Ja’far Sadiq (A.S.) used to pray a 4 Raka’t Salaat tonight as under: In Every Raka’t recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah 100 times and Soorah Al Ikhlass 100 times After the Salaam recite the following dua’a: O Allah: I am in need for ،ٌ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي إلَيْكَ فَقِير‬ You, and I am fearful of You and seeking Your shelter against Your chastisement. O Allah: (please) do not erase my name,

ٌ‫َو ِمنْ عَذَابِكَ خَائِف‬ .ٌ‫مُسْتَجِير‬ ،‫اللّهُمَّ ال تُبَدِّلِ اسْمِي‬

and do not change my body,

،‫وَال ُتغَيِّرْ جِسْمِي‬

and do not increase my ordeals, and do not make my enemies rejoice at my misfortune. I resort to Your pardon against Your punishment, and I resort to Your mercy against Your chastisement, and I resort to Your pleasure against Your wrath,

،‫وَال تَجْهَدْ بَالئِي‬

and I resort to You from You

،‫وَال تُشْمِتْ بِي أَعْدَائِي‬ ،َ‫أَعُوذُ ِبعَ ْفوِكَ ِمنْ عِقَابِك‬ ،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ ِمنْ عَذَابِك‬ ،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ ِمنْ سَخَطِك‬ ،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْك‬

Enormous be the praise of َ‫جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُك‬ You You are as exactly as You َ‫َأنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ َعلَى نَفْسِك‬ have praised Yourself, and above all that which is .َ‫وَ َفوْقَ مَا يَقُولُ الْقَاِئلُون‬ said about You. It is worth mentioning that °ad¢ths have decided a great reward for him who offers a one hundred Rak`ah prayer at this night; in each Rak`ah of which the S£rah of alFati¦ah is recited once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d is repeated ten times.

15 th of Sha`ban On the fifteenth of Sha`ban, the twelfth Imam al-Mahdi, the Patron of the Age (¯a¦ib al-Zaman), was born—may Allah (swt)’s blessings be upon him and his immaculate ancestors. Recite the following ziyarah on this day: In the Name of Allah; the Allbeneficent, the All-merciful. Peace be upon the Household of Y¡s¢n. Peace be upon you, O caller to Allah and interpreter of His Verses. Peace be upon you, O door to Allah and applier of His religion. Peace be upon you, O viceroy of Allah and backer of His right.

ِ‫ن ٱلرَّحِيم‬ ِ ٰ‫م ٱللَّ ِه ٱلرَّحْم‬ ِ ْ‫بِس‬ .‫ل يـٰس‬ ِ ‫ىآ‬ ٰ َ‫سَالَمٌ عَل‬ ِ‫ي ٱللَّه‬ َ ِ‫ك يَا دَاع‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ِ‫ِي آيَاتِه‬ َّ ‫َورَبَّان‬ ِ‫ب ٱللَّه‬ َ ‫ك يَا بَا‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ِ‫ن دِينِه‬ َ ‫وَدَيَّا‬ ِ‫ك يَا خَلِيفَ َة ٱللَّه‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ِ‫وَنَاصِ َر حَقِّه‬

Peace be upon you, O Argument of Allah and sign of His volition.

‫ك يَا حُجَّ َة ٱللَّ ِه‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬

Peace be upon you, O reciter of the Book of Allah and its interpreter.

ِ‫ي ِكتَاب‬ َ ِ‫ك يَا تَال‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬

Peace be upon you at the hours of Your night and the two ends of Your day.

‫ك‬ َ ِ‫ك فِي آنَا ِء َليْل‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬

Peace be upon you, O herald of Allah on His lands.

ِ‫ك يَا بَقِيَّ َة ٱللَّه‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬

ِ‫ل إِرَادَتِه‬ َ ‫وَ َدلِي‬ ُ‫ٱللَّ ِه وَتَرْجُمَانَه‬ َ‫وَاطْرَافِ َنهَارِك‬

ِ‫فِي ارْضِه‬ Peace be upon you, O covenant of Allah that He has made and confirmed. Peace be upon you, O Promise of Allah that He has assured.

Peace be upon you, O appointed pennon, poured knowledge, aid, and expansive mercy. This is verily a promise that shall never be belied. Peace be upon you whenever you rise (to undertake the mission). Peace be upon you whenever you sit. Peace be upon you whenever you recite and elucidate.

Peace be upon you whenever you offer prayer and supplicate. Peace be upon you whenever you genuflect and prostrate (yourself for Allah). Peace be upon you whenever you profess Allah’s Godhead and profess His All-greatness.

‫ق ٱللَّ ِه‬ َ ‫ك يَا مِيثَا‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫ٱلَّذِي اخَذَ ُه وَوَكَّدَه‬ ِ‫د ٱللَّه‬ َ ْ‫ك يَا َوع‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫ٱلَّذِي ضَ ِمنَه‬ ُ‫ك اُّيهَا ٱْلعَلَم‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫ٱلْ َمنْصُوب‬ ُ‫صبُوب‬ ْ َ‫م ٱلْم‬ ُ ْ‫وَٱْلعِل‬ ُ‫سعَة‬ ِ ‫وَٱْلغَوْثُ وَٱلرَّحْمَ ُة ٱلْوَا‬ ٍ‫َوعْداً َغيْرَ مَكْذُوب‬ ُ‫ن تَقوُم‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫ن تَ ْقعُد‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫ن تَقْرَا‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫وَُتبَيِّن‬ ‫ن تُصَلِّي‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫وَتَ ْقنُت‬ ‫ع‬ ُ َ‫ن تَرْك‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫سجُد‬ ْ َ‫وَت‬ ُ‫َلل‬ ِّ ‫ن ُته‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬

ُ‫وَتُكَبِّر‬ Peace be upon you whenever you praise Allah and implore for His forgiveness. Peace be upon you whenever you begin and end your day.

Peace be upon you in the night when it draws a veil and the day when it shines in brightness. Peace be upon you, O entrusted leader.

Peace be upon you, O favored and expected.

Peace be upon you to the ultimate meaning of peace. I solicit you, O my master, to testify to me that I bear witness that there is no god but Allah; One and Only Lord and having no associate, and that Mu¦ammad is His servant and messenger. There is no one more beloved by Allah than him and his household.

‫د‬ ُ َ‫ن َتحْم‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫س َتغْفِر‬ ْ َ‫وَت‬ ‫ح‬ ُ ِ‫صب‬ ْ ُ‫ن ت‬ َ ‫ك حِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ‫وَتُمْسِي‬ ‫ل إِذَا‬ ِ ‫ٱلل ْي‬ َّ ‫ك فِي‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ٰ‫َيغْشَى‬ ٰ‫َٱلنهَا ِر إِذَا َتجَلَّى‬ َّ ‫و‬ ُ‫ك اُّيهَا ٱإلِمَام‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫ٱلْمامُون‬ ‫ك اُّيهَا ٱلْمُقَدَّ ُم‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ُ‫ٱلْمامُول‬ ِ‫ك ِبجَوَامِع‬ َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬ ِ‫ٱلسَّالَم‬ َ‫شهِدُكَ يَا مَوْالَي‬ ْ‫ا‬ ُ‫ِال ٱللَّه‬ َّ ِ‫ن الَ إِلٰ َه إ‬ ْ ‫دا‬ ُ َ‫شه‬ ْ ‫انِّي ا‬ ُ‫وَحْدَ ُه الَ شَرِيكَ لَه‬ ُ‫وَانَّ ُمحَمَّدًا َعبْدُهُ َورَسُولُه‬ ُ‫ِال هُ َو وَاهْلُه‬ َّ ِ‫ب إ‬ َ ‫حبِي‬ َ َ‫ال‬

And I solicit you, O my master, to testify to me that I bear witness that `Al¢ the Commander of the Faithful is His argument,

َ‫ك يَا مَوْالَي‬ َ ُ‫شهِد‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ َ‫انَّ عَ ِليّ ًا امِي َر ٱلْمُؤْ ِمنِين‬ ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ح‬

al-°asan is His argument,

ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ن ح‬ َ َ‫وَٱْلحَس‬

al-°usayn is His argument,

ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ن ح‬ َ ْ‫سي‬ َ ُ‫وَٱْلح‬

`Al¢ the son of al-°usayn is His argument, Mu¦ammad the son of `Al¢ is His argument, Ja`far the son of Mu¦ammad is His argument, M£s¡ the son of Ja`far is His argument, `Al¢ the son of M£s¡ is His argument, Mu¦ammad the son of `Al¢ is His argument, `Al¢ the son of Mu¦ammad is His argument, and al-°asan the son of `Al¢ is His argument. I also bear witness that you are verily the argument of Allah.

ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ن ح‬ ِ ْ‫سي‬ َ ُ‫ن ٱْلح‬ َ ْ‫ِي ب‬ َّ ‫َوعَل‬

You all are the first and the last.

ُ‫ل وَٱآلخِر‬ ُ َّ‫م ٱالو‬ ُ ُ‫اْنت‬

And (I bear witness) that your (promised) Return is undoubtedly true “On the day when its belief avails not a soul which theretofore believed not,

ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ِي ح‬ ٍّ ‫د بْنَ عَل‬ َ َّ‫وَ ُمحَم‬ ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫د ح‬ ٍ َّ‫جعْفَ َر بْنَ ُمحَم‬ َ َ‫و‬ ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ن جَعْفَ ٍر ح‬ َ ْ‫ى ب‬ ٰ َ‫وَموُس‬ ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ى ح‬ ٰ َ‫ِي بْنَ مُوس‬ َّ ‫َوعَل‬ ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ِي ح‬ ٍّ ‫د بْنَ عَل‬ َ َّ‫وَ ُمحَم‬ ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫د ح‬ ٍ َّ‫ِي بْنَ ُمحَم‬ َّ ‫َوعَل‬ ُ‫ُجتُه‬ َّ ‫ِي ح‬ ٍّ ‫ن عَل‬ َ ْ‫ن ب‬ َ َ‫وَٱْلحَس‬ ِ‫ك حُجَّ ُة ٱللَّه‬ َ َّ‫د ان‬ ُ َ‫شه‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ َ‫َق الَ رَيْب‬ ٌّ ‫م ح‬ ْ ُ‫ج َعتَك‬ ْ َ‫ن ر‬ َّ ‫وَا‬ ‫فِيهَا‬ ‫ع نَفْس ًا إِيـمَاُنهَا‬ ُ َ‫يَوْ َم الَ َينْف‬ ُ‫ن َق ْبل‬ ْ ِ‫ن آ َمنَتْ م‬ ْ ُ‫م تَك‬ ْ َ‫ل‬

nor in its belief earned good by works,” death is true,

ً‫خيْرا‬ َ ‫ت فِي إِيـمَاِنهَا‬ ْ َ‫سب‬ َ َ‫ا ْو ك‬ ٌّ‫ت حَق‬ َ ْ‫وَانَّ ٱلْمَو‬

and N¡kir and Nak¢r are true.

ٌّ‫وَانَّ نَاكِرًا وَنَكيرًا حَق‬

And I bear witness that the Raising for death is true,

ٌّ‫ن ٱلنَّشْ َر حَق‬ َّ ‫د ا‬ ُ َ‫شه‬ ْ ‫وَا‬

the Resurrection is true, the Discriminating Bridge is true, the Watchtower is true, the Balance (of deeds) is true, the Gathering is true, the Reckoning is true, Paradise and Hell are true, and the promise of Paradise and the threat with Hell are true. O My master! Certainly wretched is he who opposes you and certainly happy is he who obeys you. So, testify to me all that which I have besought you to testify. I am verily an ally of you and denouncing your enemy. The truth is only that which you accept,

ٌّ‫ث حَق‬ َ َ‫وَٱْل َبع‬ ٌّ‫ط حَق‬ َ ‫وَانَّ ٱلصِّرَا‬ ٌّ‫وَٱلْمِرْصَا َد حَق‬ ٌّ‫ن حَق‬ َ ‫وَٱلْمِيزَا‬ ٌّ‫وَٱْلحَشْ َر حَق‬ ٌّ‫ب حَق‬ َ ‫وَٱْلحِسَا‬ ٌّ‫وَٱْلجَنَّ َة وَٱلنَّا َر حَق‬ ٌّ‫د ِبهِمَا حَق‬ َ ‫د وَٱلْ َوعِي‬ َ ْ‫وَٱلْ َوع‬ ْ‫ن خَالَفَكُم‬ ْ َ‫ي شَقِيَ م‬ َ َ‫يَا مَوْال‬ ْ‫سعِدَ مَنْ اطَاعَكُم‬ َ َ‫و‬ ‫ك‬ َ ُ‫شهَدْت‬ ْ ‫شهَدْ عَلَىٰ مَا ا‬ ْ ‫فَٱ‬ ِ‫عَ َليْه‬ َ‫وَانَا َولِيٌّ لَك‬ َ‫بَرِيءٌ مِنْ عَدُوِّك‬ ُ‫فَٱْلحَقُّ مَا رَضِيتُمُوه‬

the wrong is only that which you disallow, the good is only that which you enjoin, and the evil is only that which you forbid. My soul is thus believing in Allah; One and Only Lord and having no associate, and also in His Messenger, in the Commander of the Faithful, and in you all, O my master, from the beginning to the end. I have prepared myself to back you and my love is sincerely dedicated to you. Respond! Respond!

ُ‫طتُمُوه‬ ْ َ‫سخ‬ ْ ‫وَٱْلبَا ِطلُ مَا ا‬ ِ‫م بِه‬ ْ ُ‫وَٱلْ َمعْرُوفُ مَا امَرْت‬ ُ‫وَٱلْ ُمنْكَرُ مَا َن َه ْيتُمْ َعنْه‬ ِ‫َفنَفْسِي مُؤْ ِمنَ ٌة بِٱللَّه‬ ُ‫وَحْدَ ُه الَ شَريكَ لَه‬ َ‫وَبِرَسُولِ ِه وَبِامِي ِر ٱلْمُؤْ ِمنِين‬ ْ‫ي ا َّولِكُم‬ َ َ‫م يَا مَوْال‬ ْ ُ‫وَبِك‬ ْ‫وَآخِرِكُم‬ ْ‫وَنُصْرَتِي ُمعَدَّةٌ لَكُم‬ ْ‫وَمَوَدَّتِي خَالِصَةٌ لَكُم‬ َ‫ن آمِين‬ َ ‫آمِي‬

Last Days of the Month of Sha`ban Imam al-Ri¤a (a.s) is reported as saying, “If one observes fasting on the last three days of Sha`ban and attach it to the obligatory fasting of Rama¤an, Allah (swt) will decide his as observing fasting in two consecutive months.” Abu’l-¯alt al-Harawiy has narrated that when he visited Imam al-Ri¤a (a.s) on the last Friday of Sha`ban, the Imam said to him, “Abu’l-¯alt: The majority of Sha`ban has passed. This is the last Friday in it. You should thus settle what you have missed in this month by working hard in the rest of it. You may supplicate, seek forgiveness of Allah (swt), recite the Holy Qur'an, and repent before Allah (swt) from your sins so that you receive the month of Rama¤an with pure sincerity to Allah (swt). You must fulfill all the trusts that you are liable to settle; and do not bear malice against any of your brethren-in-faith; and you must give up any sin that you commit. Fear Allah (swt) and trust in Him in secret and openly, for ‘If any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion. 65/3’ In the rest days of Sha`ban, you may repeat the following supplication very much for Allah (swt) saves many people from Hellfire on account of the sanctity of this month: O Allah: If You have not forgiven us ‫كنْ غَفَرْتَ لَنَا‬ ُ َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنْ لَمْ ت‬ in the past days of Sha`ban,

َ‫شعْبَان‬ َ ْ‫فِيمَا مَضَى ِمن‬ (please do) forgive us in the rest of it.

.ُ‫فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا فِيمَا بَقِيَ مِ ْنه‬

Last Night of Sha`ban Shaykh al-±£siy has narrated on the authority of °arith ibn Mugh¢rah al-Na¤riy that Imam al-¯adiq (a.s) used to say the following supplication at the last night of Sha`ban and the first night of Rama¤an: O Allah: verily, this blessed month, in which the Qur'an was revealed and was made guidance for people and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong), has commenced So, (please) keep us out of blemish during it, and keep it sound for us, and receive it from us with means of easiness and good health from You O He Who has accepted the little (deed) and thanked for the much; (please) accept from me the little (deed). O Allah: I beseech You to make for me a path to every decency, and to make for me a barrier against everything that You do not like O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنَّ هذَا الشَّهْرَ الْمُبَارَك‬ ُ‫الَّذِي ُأنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآن‬ ٍ‫دىً لِلنَّاسِ َوبَيِّنَات‬ َ ُ‫جعِلَ ه‬ ُ َ‫و‬ ِ‫ِمنَ الْهُدَى وَالْفُرْقَان‬ َ‫قَدْ حَضَر‬ ِ‫فَسَلِّمْنَا فِيه‬ ‫َوسَلَّ ْمهُ لَنَا‬ َ‫وَتَسَلَّ ْمهُ مِنَّا فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْك‬ ،ٍ‫وَعَافِيَة‬ َ‫يَا َمنْ أَخَذَ الْ َقلِيلَ َوشَكَر‬ َ‫الْكَثِير‬ .َ‫اقْبَلْ مِنِّي الْيَسِير‬ ْ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي َأسْأَلُكَ أَن‬ ٍ‫جعَلَ لِي إلَى كُلِّ خَيْر‬ ْ َ‫ت‬ ،ً‫سَبِيال‬ ً‫َو ِمنْ كُلِّ مَا ال تُحِبُّ مَانِعا‬ ،َ‫يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬

O He Who has pardoned me and overlooked the misdeeds that I have committed secretly;

ُ‫خلَوْت‬ َ ‫يَا َمنْ عَفَا عَنِّي وَعَمَّا‬

O He Who has not punished me for my committing acts of disobedience to Him:

ِ‫ذنِي بِارْتِكَاب‬ ْ ِ‫يَا َمنْ لَمْ ُيؤَاخ‬

I seek Your pardon, I seek Your pardon, I seek Your pardon, O the All-generous.

‫ يَا‬،َ‫عَ ْفوَكَ عَ ْفوَكَ عَ ْفوَك‬

O my God: You advised me, but I have not followed Your advice, and You rebuked me for violating that which You have deemed forbidden, but I have not stopped,

،ْ‫إلهِي وَعَظْتَنِي َفلَمْ أَتَّ ِعظ‬

Now, what is my excuse? So, (please) pardon me, O the All-generous; I seek Your pardon, I seek Your pardon! O Allah: I beseech You for rest at death, and for pardon at calling to account. Great is the sin of Your servant; so, let Your overlooking him be excellent. O He Who is worthy of being feared and is worthy of forgiving; I seek Your pardon, I seek Your pardon.

،ِ‫ِبهِ ِمنَ السَّيِّئَات‬ ،‫الْ َمعَاصِي‬ .ُ‫كَرِيم‬ ْ‫َوزَجَرْتَنِي َعنْ مَحَا ِرمِكَ فَلَم‬ ،ْ‫َأنْزَجِر‬ ‫ذرِي؟‬ ْ ُ‫فَمَا ع‬ َ‫ عَ ْفوَك‬،ُ‫فَاعْفُ عَنِّي يَا كَرِيم‬ .َ‫عَ ْفوَك‬ َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنّي َأسْأَلُك‬ ،ِ‫حةَ عِنْدَ الْمَوْت‬ َ ‫الرَّا‬ ،ِ‫وَاْلعَ ْفوَ عِنْدَ الْحِسَاب‬ َ‫عَظُمَ الذَّنْبُ ِمنْ عَبْدِك‬ ْ‫سنِ التَّجَا ُوزُ ِمن‬ ُ ْ‫َفلْيَح‬ ،َ‫عِنْدِك‬ َ‫يَا أَهْلَ التَّ ْقوَى وَيَا أَهْل‬ .َ‫ عَ ْفوَكَ عَ ْفوَك‬،ِ‫الْ َمغْفِرَة‬

I Allah: I am Your servant and the son of Your servant and Your she-servant,

َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي عَبْدُكَ ْبنُ عَبْدِك‬ َ‫ْبنُ َأمَتِك‬

and I am weak and in need for Your mercy;

،َ‫ضعِيفٌ فَقِيرٌ إلَى رَحْمَتِك‬ َ

and You are the Pourer of wealth and bless on the servants (of You),

ِ‫وََأنْتَ مُنْزِلُ اْلغِنَى وَالْبَرَ َكة‬

and You are omnipotent and full of power; as You have recorded all their (i.e. Your servants) deeds, and You have decided the sustenance of each one them,

ٌ‫در‬ ِ َ‫قَاهِرٌ مُقْت‬

and You have made them of different languages and colors; in different stages of creation; Your servants can never attain Your knowledge, and Your servants can never recognize the real estimate that is due to You and all of us are needy for Your mercy; So, (please) do not turn Your Face away from me, and include me with the virtuous creatures of You in deeds, hopes, and Your decisions (for me).

،ِ‫َعلَى اْلعِبَاد‬ ،ْ‫أَحْصَيْتَ أَعْمَالَهُم‬ ،ْ‫وَقَسَمْتَ َأ ْرزَاقَهُم‬ ْ‫ج َعلْتَهُمْ مُخْ َتلِ َفةً أَلْسِنَتُهُم‬ َ َ‫و‬ ،ٍ‫خلْق‬ َ ِ‫وَأَْلوَانُهُمْ خَلْقاً ِمنْ َبعْد‬ ،َ‫وَال َي ْعلَمُ اْلعِبَادُ ِعلْمَك‬ ،َ‫درَك‬ ْ َ‫درُ اْلعِبَادُ ق‬ ِ ْ‫وَال يَق‬ ،َ‫وَكُلُّنَا فَقِيرٌ إلَى رَحْمَتِك‬ ،َ‫فَال تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي وَجْهَك‬ َ‫ج َعلْنِي ِمنْ صَالِحِي خَلْقِك‬ ْ ‫وَا‬ ِ‫ألمَلِ وَالْقَضَاء‬ َ ‫فِي اْلعَمَلِ وَا‬ .ِ‫در‬ َ َ‫وَالْق‬

O Allah: (please) keep me alive in the best manner of living,

،ِ‫اللّهُمَّ أَبْقِنِي خَيْرَ الْبَقَاء‬

and decide for me to die in the best manner of death keeping loyal to Your representatives,

‫وَأَفْنِنِي خَيْرَ الْفَنَاءِ َعلَى‬ ،َ‫ُموَاالةِ أَوْلِيَائِك‬

and incurring the enmity of Your enemies, and keeping desiring for You and fearing from You, and submission, faithfulness, and compliance with You, and keeping belief in Your Book and following Your Prophet’s instructions. O Allah: as for whatever I bear in my heart, including suspicion or doubt or denial or despair or (excessive) joy or lavish expenditure or recklessness or pride or arrogance or ostentation or discord or hypocrisy

َ‫َو ُمعَادَاةِ أَعْدَائِك‬ ِ‫ وَالرَّهْ َبة‬،َ‫وَالرَّغْ َبةِ إلَيْك‬ ،َ‫مِنْك‬ ِ‫سلِيم‬ ْ َّ‫وَالْخُشُوعِ وَالْوَفَاءِ وَالت‬ ،َ‫لَك‬ ،َ‫وَالتَّصْدِيقِ بِكِتَابِك‬ .َ‫وَاتِّبَاعِ سُنَّةِ َرسُولِك‬ ‫اللّهُمَّ مَا كَانَ فِي َقلْبِي‬ ٍ‫ِمنْ شَكٍّ أَوْ رِي َبة‬ ٍ‫أَوْ جُحُودٍ أَوْ قُنُوط‬ ٍ‫ذخٍ أَوْ بَطَر‬ َ َ‫أَوْ فَ َرحٍ أَوْ ب‬ ٍ‫أَوْ خُيَالءَ أَوْ رِيَاءٍ أَوْ سُ ْمعَة‬ ٍ‫أَوْ شِقَاقٍ أَوْ نِفَاق‬

or unbelief or licentiousness or disobedience or conceit or anything else that You do not like;

ٍ‫أَوْ كُفْرٍ أَوْ فُسُوقٍ أَوْ عِصْيَان‬

I thus beseech You, O my Lord, to substitute all that with belief in Your promise

‫فَ َأسْأَلُكَ يَا رَبِّ أَنْ تُبَدِّلَنِي‬

and fulfilling of my covenant to You and satisfaction with what You decide for me and indifference to the worldly pleasures and desire for that which You have

،َ‫وَوَفَاءً ِبعَهْدِك‬

،ُّ‫أَوْ عَظَ َمةٍ أَوْ شَيْءٍ ال تُحِب‬ ،َ‫مَكَاَنهُ إيمَاناً ِبوَعْدِك‬ ،َ‫َورِضاً بِقَضَائِك‬ ،‫َوزُهْداً فِي الدُّنْيَا‬ ،َ‫َورَغْ َبةً فِيمَا عِنْدَك‬

and altruism and tranquility and sincere repentance;

ً‫وَأَثَرَةً وَطُمَ ْأنِي َنةً وََت ْوَبة‬ ،ً‫نَصُوحا‬

I beseech You for all that, O the Lord of the worlds.

.َ‫َأسْأَلُكَ ذلِكَ يَا رَبَّ اْلعَالَمِين‬

O my God: because You are so forbearing, You are disobeyed as if You are not present,

‫حلْمِكَ ُتعْصَى‬ ِ ْ‫إلهِي َأنْتَ ِمن‬

and because You are so generous and magnanimous, You are obeyed as if You have not been disobeyed at all

ُ‫َو ِمنْ كَ َرمِكَ وَجُودِكَ تُطَاع‬

Both those who have not disobeyed You and I are the inhabitants of Your lands;

ُ‫وََأنَا َو َمنْ لَمْ َيعْصِكَ سُكَّان‬

So, (please) confer magnanimously upon us with Your favors and always refer to us with Your goodness O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

،َ‫فَكَأَنَّكَ لَمْ تُر‬ ،َ‫فَكَأَنَّكَ لَمْ تُعْص‬ َ‫َأرْضِك‬ ،ً‫جوَادا‬ َ ِ‫كنْ َعلَيْنَا بِالْفَضْل‬ ُ َ‫ف‬ ،ً‫َوبِالْخَيْرِ عَوَّادا‬ ،َ‫يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬

May Allah bless Mu¦ammad and his Household with endless blessings

ِ‫وَصَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآِله‬

that are innumerable, uncountable, and none can do it save You,

ُ‫در‬ ِ ْ‫ال تُحْصَى وَال ُتعَدُّ وَال يَق‬

O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

Peace be on you, O the Imam, Who got sores on spots which Touched during sijda! Peace be on you, O one who Wept and mourned! Peace be on you, one who was Captive of hardships!

Peace be on you, O one from The great worshippers!

Peace be on you , O the son of The fifth of the people of the Cloak (Husayn)

Peace be on you, O son of the Leader of the martyrs!

‫السالم عليك يا سيد الساجدين‬

‫السالم عليك يا زين العابدين‬ ‫السالم عليك يا حليف الحسرات‬ ‫السالم عليك يا ذا الثفنات‬ ‫السالم عليك يا صاحب العبرات‬ ‫السالم عليك يا أسير الكربات‬

‫السالم عليك يا أعظم آل العباء‬ ‫السالم عليك يا ابن خامس‬ ‫أصحاب أهل الكساء‬

‫السالم عليك يا ابن سيد الشهداء‬
