Nature has endowed the Sevnica area with two indigenous flowers. Over Bo{tanj there is the famous Pontic Azalea (Azalea pontica), which blooms in May and is a botanical rarity in Europe. On Lovrenac above Okroglice , there is a luxuriant expanse of gentian (Clusijev svi{~) which, also in May, covers the meadows with its cloak of royal blue.

Lisca is the highest view point and a famous mountaineering and excursion destination. Recently it has been mostly attracting lovers of aerial sports: hang gliders and para gliders. In winter, dressed in snowish whiteness, it also attracts skiers. The architecture of the mediaeval Sevnica castle stands as a silent witness to many bygone periods of history - from Renaissance to baroque. Inside its walls today we can see baroque frescoes,as well as The School and Fire-fighting Museum and The Museum of Exiles. An artistic soul will be happy to find the exhibition gallery with the decorative art of Ivan Razbor{ek and Alojz Konec, an academy painter, who also has his studio and permanent exhibition inside the castle walls. An evidence of the harmonic entwining of the past and present within the Sevnica castle is embodied by the conference room and the wedding chamber.

The old small Ajda castle (Ajdovski gradec) archeological findings in Vranje tell the story of the dusk of antique times and the restless times of the settlement of peoples in Slovene lands.This once fortified old Christian settlement is now arranged as an archeological park.

The vicinity of Sevnica is a wonderful place for excursions, picnics, hiking, cycling and fishing. If we find ourselves there at the right time, we can see the sp awning of fish in the river Mirna in Bo{tanj.

The mystic peacefulness of the numerous churches tell us a story,as old as life itself: The three-nave , neo-Roman Parish church of St. Nikolaj (cerkev sv. Nikolaja) from 1862. and the St. Florian church (sv. Florijan) with its Gothic frescoes in Sevnica, the church of The Holy Spirit (Sv. Duha) on ^elovnik with its famous baroque frescoes, the church of St. George (sv. Jurij) above Tr‘i~ and others.

In the vicinity of the Sevnica castle (Sevni{ki grad) there is the Lutheran cellar (Lutrovska klet)- one of the most beautiful renaissance art monuments we have, which is perfectly acoustic as well as beautifully, almost fancifully painted. As its name implies, it was once the refuge of Lutheran protestants. Jurij Dalmatin also taught the Lutheran doctrine here. We can stroll over the old part of the city into the city square with its stone sign of Martin (Martinovo znamenje) from 1755 and to the lower Sevnica castle (Sevni{ki grad), and can also see Ple~nik’s Monument of the NOB (national liberation war) in the new part of town.
