1.Precautions and Safety Notices Prior to using this manual, please ensure that you have carefully followed all the procedures outlined in the user manual for this product. •

Do not use this product near water.



This display should be installed on a solid horizontal base.



When cleaning, use only a neutral detergent cleaner with a soft damp cloth. Do not spray with liquid or aerosol cleaners.



Do not expose this display to direct sunlight or heat. Hot air may cause damage to the cabinet and other parts.



Adequate ventilation must be maintained to ensure reliable and continued operation and to protect the display from overheating. Do not block ventilation slots and openings with objects or install the display in a place where ventilation may be hindered.



Do not install this display near a motor or transformer where strong magnetism is generated. Images on the display will become distorted and the color irregular.

• Do not allow metal pieces or objects of any kind fall into the display from ventilation holes. • This product uses a high voltage (450 V max.). Do not touch the circuitry of this product with your hands when power is supplied to the product or immediately after turning off the power. Be sure to confirm that the voltage is dropped to a sufficiently low level. • Do not supply a voltage higher than that specified to this product. This may damage the product and may cause a fire. • Do not use this product in locations where the humidity is extremely high, where it may be splashed with water, or where flammable materials surround it. Do not install or use the product in a location that does no satisfy the specified environmental conditions. This may damage the product and may cause a fire. • If a foreign substance (such as water, metal, or liquid) gets inside the product, immediately turn off the power. Continuing to use the products it may cause fire or electric shock. • If the product emits smoke, an abnormal smell, or makes an abnormal sound, immediately turn off the power. If noting is displayed or if the display goes out during use, immediately turn off the power. Continuing to use the product as it is may cause fire or electric shock. • Do not disconnect or connect the connector while power to the product is on. It takes some time for the voltage to drop to a sufficiently low level after the power has been turned off. Confirm that the voltage has dropped to a safe level before disconnecting or connecting the connector. Otherwise, this may cause fire, electric shock, or malfunction. • Do not pull out or insert the power cable from/to an outlet with wet hands. It may cause electric shock. • Do not damage or modify the power cable. It may cause fire or electric shock. • If the power cable is damaged, or if the connector is loose, do not use the product; otherwise, this can lead to fire or electric shock. • If the power connector or the connector of the power cable becomes dirty or dusty, wipe it with a dry cloth. Otherwise, this can lead to fire. Slots and openings in the cabinet and the back or bottom are provided for ventilation, to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, those openings must not be blocked or covered. Placing the product on a bed, sofa rug, or other similar surface should never block the openings. This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. This product should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided.

2.3 Instrument Test 2.3.1 Picture (Performance) Test

Brightness non-uniformity. Apply VGA 1024 X 768/60Hz, full white pattern, Contrast = 50%, Brightness = 67%, and the Color Temperature = Normal Measure the Luminance at 5 points as below, the White Variation (δW) ≦ 1.6 (max)

2.3.2 Contrast Ratio (at center point) § Apply VGA 1280 x 768 / 60Hz, full white pattern, adjust OSD Brightness =67%, contrast = 50%,Color temperature =9300K, measure the Luminance at the center. § Apply full black pattern, measure the Luminance at the center. The contrast ratio (CR) = luminance of white pattern / luminance of black pattern ≧ 400. § If the contrast ratio is less than 500, please re-adjust.

2.3.3 Gray Scale Test Apply VGA 1024 x 768 / 60Hz, Contrast = 50%, Brightness = 67%, at 16 gray scale pattern, the gray scale should not be saturation. 2.3.4 Color Quality Apply VGA1024 x 768 / 60Hz, pattern: Color bars. Observe that all colors are of proper hue and saturation and no streaking or smearing in preset. 2.3.5 Timing Mode Change 8 Seconds (Max), 3~5 Seconds (Typ) for unrecognized Timings. 2 Seconds (Typ) for recognized (User Preset) Timings. 2.3.6 Image Down Scale Test Apply SVGA 1024 x 768 / 60Hz, and XGA 1024 x 768 / 60Hz at crosshatch pattern, the image can be fully displayed in the active display area. 2.3.7 Video Performance Test 2.3.7.1 Apply pattern: Color Bars (COL_SMPTE), Crosshatch, Multi Burst, Black & White, Gray Scale. a. Connected video signal source to AV port I. In color bar (COL_SMPTE) pattern, The color from left side to right side should be White, Yellow, Sky Blue, Green, Magenta, Red, and Blue. There were no any dot crawl between color bar, but still had light smearing. The low light (0 & 5 & 10 IRE) in the right bottom side should be separate clear. Used the Blue color filter to check the Hue and Saturation were in the optimize point. (Saturation: The Blue and White color should be the same when see through by Blue color filter.) (Hue: The Magenta and Sky Blue color should be the same when see through by Blue color filter.)

In Crosshatch pattern, it should be no visible noise.

In Multi Burst pattern, 1. In low bandwidth pattern, there are no any dots on the edge transitions. 2. In high bandwidth pattern, can not loss any resolution and the scaling should be correct. 3. There is no visible noise in this pattern.

In Black & White, there is no any trouble at edge transition.

In Gray Scale pattern, the gray scale should not be saturation at default value. In Blacker than Black pattern, the black level should be clear image.

Connected video signal source to S-Video port In color bar (COL_SMPTE) pattern, 1. The color from left side to right side should be White, Yellow, Sky Blue, Green, Magenta, Red, and Blue. 2. There were no any dot crawl between color bar, but still had light smearing. 3. The low light (0 & 5 & 10 IRE) in the right bottom side should be separate clear. 4. Used the Blue color filter to check the Hue and Saturation were in the optimize point. (Saturation: the Blue and White color should be the same when see through by Blue color filter.) Connected video signal source to TV (Composite Video) port Test Channel: 1.1 Channel 2 ~ Channel 6 (55.25 MHz ~ 77.25 MHz), choice one channel to test. 1.2 Channel 95 ~ Channel 99 (91.25 MHz ~ 115.25 MHz), choice one channel to test. 1.3 Channel 14 ~ Channel 22 (121.25 MHz ~ 169.25 MHz), choice one channel to test. 1.4 Channel 7 ~ Channel 94 (175.25 MHz ~ 643.25 MHz), choice one channel to test. 1.5 Channel 100 ~ Channel 125 (649.25 MHz ~ 799.25 MHz), choice one channel to test.

In color bar (COL_SMPTE) pattern, 2.1. The color from left side to right side should be White, Yellow, Sky Blue, Green, Magenta, Red, and Blue. 2.2 There were some smearing or dot crawl between color bar is acceptable because of this model was no 3D comb filter. 2.3 The low light (0 & 5 & 10 IRE) in the right bottom side should be separate clear. 2.4 Used the Blue color filter to check the Hue and Saturation were in the optimize point. (Saturation: the Blue and White color should be the same when see through by Blue color filter.) (Hue: the Magenta and Sky Blue color should be the same when see through by Blue color filter.)

In Black & White, there is no any trouble at edge transition.

VI.

In Gray Scale pattern, the gray scale should not be saturation at default value.

VII. Apply cable TV or RF pattern generator signal and the RF sensitivity set to 45 ~85 dBµV, the image should be displayed. If under 60 dBµV, the image had snow noise was acceptable but can not loss any color. VIII. TV Channel Auto Scan The time of auto scan must be less than 3 minutes. The NTSC system TV channel and frequency table as APPENDIX A 2.3.8 Picture in Picture & Picture on Picture Function Test 1. Apply Composite Video, S-VIDEO and RF port to RGB and YcbCr / YPbPr, 2. OSD select PIP and POP function and select input source should be normal displayed. 3. The function of sound, swap, PIP size and PIP H/V position should be working normally. 2.8.9 Audio Test 1. Connected PC Audio input source to PC audio input, the speaker L and R should be output and the distortion (THD) ≦ 10% at 200Hz to 15KHz, and the audio function of Balance, Bass, Treble should be working normally. 2. Connected AV1 (AV & S-Video) Audio input source to AV1 L/R audio input, the speaker L and R should be output and the distortion (THD) ≦ 10% at 200Hz to 15KHz, and the audio function of Balance, Bass, Treble should be working normally. 3. Connected AV2 (YCbCr / YPbPr) Audio input source to AV2 L/R audio input, the speaker L and R should be output and the distortion (THD) ≦ 10% at 200Hz to 15KHz, and the audio function of Balance, Bass, Treble should be working normally.

2.2

Panel inspection Spec.

1. Description These inspection standards shall be applied to PDP Module supplied by Samsung/LG Corporation. 2.4.1 The environmental condition of inspection

2.4.2 Classification of defects

Defects are classified two types, major defect and minor defect according to the defect. And, the definition of defects is classified as below. (1) Major defect Any defect may result in functional failure, or reduce the usability of product for its purpose. For example, electrical failure, deformation and etc.. (2) Minor defect A defect that is not to reduce the usability of product for its intended purpose and un-uniformity, dot defect and etc.. The criteria on major and/or minor judgment will be according with the classification of defects. 2.4.3 Inspection Criteria

Services - Memory Controller - Host Interface - Measurement Unit - Clock Generators 4.1.4 Video Decoder The IC7100 VPC3230D is a high quality, signal chip video front-end, which is targeted for 4:3 and 16:9, 50/60Hz and 100/120Hz TV sets. The main features are high-performance adaptive 4H comb filter Y/C separator with adjustable vertical peaking, multi-standard color decoder PAL/NTSC/SECAM, four CVBS and one S-VHS and two RGB/YCbCr input, integrated high-quality A/D converters and associated clamp and AGC circuit, multi-standard sync processing, 656 output interface, peaking and contrast and brightness and color saturation and tint for RGB/YCbCr/CVBS/S-VHS, high-quality soft mixer controlled by Fast Blank, I2C-bus interface, one external 20.25MHz crystal. 4.1.5 Audio Processor The IC8501 MSP3440 is single-chip multi-standard sound processor of PAL/SECAM analog TV standard. The full TV sound processing, starting with analog sound IF signal-in, down to processed analog AF-out, is performed in a single chip. This TV sound processing IC include version for processing the multi-channel television sound (MTS) signal conforming to the standard recommended by the Broadcast Television System Committee (BTSC). The IC also include the Bass and Treble function. The MSP3440-C12 is include the BBE function. BBE is a registered trademark of BBE Sound Inc., the BBE Logo is a trademark of BBE Sound Inc. A license from BBE Sound Inc. is required before a BBE-version of the MSP 3440G can be purchased. BBE High Definition Sound or, also called, Sonic Maximizer technology improves the clarity of music when played back via loudspeakers. A more “life like” feeling is created by BBE. The BBE-approved Micronas implementation works in the digital domain and thus needs no external components and does not suffer from tolerances and aging effects. 4.1.6 ADC The IC6101 AD9883A is a complete 8-bit, 140 MSPS monolithic analog interface optimized for capturing RGB graphics signals From personal computers and workstations. Its 140 MSPS encode rate capability and full power analog bandwidth of 300 MHz supports resolutions up to SXGA (1280 × 1024 at 75 Hz). The AD9883A includes a 140 MHz triple ADC with internal 1.25 V reference, a PLL, and programmable gain, offset, and clamp control. The user provides only a 3.3 V power supply, analog input, and Hsync and COAST signals. Three-state CMOS outputs may be powered from 2.5 V to 3.3 V. The AD9883A’s on-chip PLL generates a pixel clock from the Hsync input. Pixel clock output frequencies range from 12 MHz to When the COAST signal is presented, the PLL maintains its output frequency in the absence of Hsync. A sampling phase adjustment is provided. Data, Hsync, and clock output phase relationships are maintained. The AD9883A also offers full sync processing for composite sync and sync-on-green applications. A clamp signal is generated internally or may be provided by the user through the CLAMP input pin. This interface is fully programmable via a 2-wire serial interface. 4.1.7 TMDS The IC6104 SiI 169 Receiver uses PanelLink Digital technology to support HDTV and high-resolution digital displays for DTV and PC applications. It features High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) for secure delivery of high-definition video in consumer electronics products. The SiI 169 comes with integrated, pre-programmed HDCP keys, greatly simplifying manufacturing and providing the highest level of security. For improved ease of use, the SiI 169 has enhanced jitter tolerance and a low-power standby mode. · Integrated 25-165MHz PanelLink core to support VGA to UXGA resolutions · Supports HDTV resolutions (720p/1080i) · Integrated HDCP decryption engine for viewing protected content · Pre-programmed HDCP keys provide highest level of key security, simplify manufacturing · Enhanced jitter tolerance · Time staggered data output for reduced ground bounce · High Skew Tolerance: 1 full input clock cycle (6ns at 165MHz) · Backwards compatible with SiI 161B · Sync Detect for “Hot Plugging” · Flexible low power modes with automatic power down when input clock is inactive · Low power 3.3V core operation · Compliant with DVI 1.0. 4.1.8 De-Interlace The IC7204 Matisse-1A (MS1A) by Oplus is a high-quality, digital video de-interlacer chip designed for flat panel displays, projection systems, progressive scan TVs and advanced video processing devices. Matisse-1A is the ideal solution for all digital display applications, combining superb image quality, flexibility and cost effectiveness with a suite of advanced features. The chip incorporates two video input ports for maximum system design flexibility and a fully featured color-processing unit. The Matisse-1A's output port can be connected with glueless logic to the Oplus Rembrandt-1A and Rembrandt-102 display processor chips, creating the ultimate digital image processing system. The chip is also fully compatible with all common scaler chips. The Matisse-1A supports standard interlaced NTSC/PAL/SECAM video processing fed by video decoder, analog to digital converter or other digital source. Some functional blocks have a bypass option to increase flexibility of connection to different sources.

Video Board

4.2.1 Power Supply (DC/DC Converter) The IC8003 is a linearity regulator. It converts a 12V DC input voltage into regulated and stable output voltages of 5V respectively. 4.2.2 3-D comb filter The IC8006 and IC8011 UPD64083 realizes a high precision Y/C separation and a noise reduction by the three-dimension signal processing for NTSC signal.
