Video “That’s my Money”

Godly stewardship requires us to carefully consider how we… Use our finances. Use our talents. Use our time. Use all resources the Lord has put at our disposal.

15% of everything Jesus said related to money and possessions.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 NLT #ReferenceVerse // You should also know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control; they will be cruel and have no interest in what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that. Genesis 1:1 NLT #ReferenceVerse // In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Psalm 24:1 NLT #ReferenceVerse // The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. Difficult Times: Foreclosures at all time highs Unemployment is the highest it’s been in a generation. Investments in some cases have lost over 50% of their value. Living paycheck to paycheck and still short each week.

Psalms 50:15 NLT #ReferenceVerse // Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory. 85% of pastors are untrained in the theology of stewardship 90% of churches have no stewardship plan. Only 2-4% of seminaries and only 1-2% of Christian colleges and universities teach biblical financial principles. There’s a lot more to stewardship than money, but stewardship often ties back to the health of our spiritual lives.

Luke 16:11 NLT #ReferenceVerse // “And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?” 1 Corinthians 4:2 NKJV #ReferenceVerse // Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. Matthew 6:21 NKJV #ReferenceVerse // For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. #LifeLesson – There is a fundamental connection between your relationship with God and how you use money and possessions.

Billions are spent each year by advertisers to convince us to…. Buy things we don’t need With money we don’t have To impress people we don’t like

“…the use of media advertising…represents a conscious choice as to the most effective and efficient way to generate consumer demand.” About 1 in 20 American households owes $8,000 or more on credit cards. (MSN Money September 2009) 1.4 million Americans filed for bankruptcy in 2008 (Bankruptcy.com, Sept. 2009) The typical family filing for bankruptcy owed more than one and a half times its annual income in short-term, high-interest debt (aka Credit Cards). Nearly 2/3 of undergraduate students will owe an average of $19,000 in student loans when they graduate. 40% of church members say they overspend monthly. 40% of church members pay more than $2,000 a year in credit card interest in addition to their mortgage. Proverbs 22:7 NIV #ReferenceVerse // “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” Matthew 6:24 NLT #ReferenceVerse // "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

1 Corinthians 7:23-24 NKJV #ReferenceVerse // You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.

Luke 12:15 NIV #ReferenceVerse // “Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Proverbs 21:20 TLB #ReferenceVerse // “A wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.” #LifeLesson – Debt can be bondage, don’t become slaves to debt.

Video “Cheerful Giver”

Should I tithe if I am in debt? Psalms 111:10- The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; … Proverbs 1:7- The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge … Proverbs 9:10- The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom … Proverbs 15:33- The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom …

Proverbs 3:9 NIV #ReferenceVerse // “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.” “How we use our money demonstrates the reality of our love for God, In some ways it proves our love more conclusively than depth of knowledge, length of prayers, or prominence of service…use of our possessions shows us up for what we actually are.” 1 Tim 6:8-10 NLT // So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 2 Corinthians 8:14 NLT #ReferenceVerse // Right now you have plenty and can help them. Then at some other time they can share with you when you need it. In this way, everyone's needs will be met. Malachi 3:6-10 NLT #ReferenceVerse // "I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already completely destroyed. Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my laws and failed to obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty. "But you ask, 'How can we return when we have never gone away?' "Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me!"But you ask, 'What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?' "You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the LORD Almighty, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! Malachi 3:11 NKJV #ReferenceVerse // "And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field," Says the LORD of hosts; #LifeLesson – In the very least, you should give according to your income, unless you want God to adjust your income according to your giving.

Video “The Plate”

#LifeLesson – If everyone gave like me, would ministry thrive or barely survive?

Altar Call song: “More Precious than silver”

Now is the opportunity to change your heart and honor God; answer His calling or miss out on His blessings, it's your choice. Jesus, thank you for forgiving me and thank you for helping me become a better steward. Amen.
