“St. Francis Xavier, a welcoming faith community lovingly sharing the gifts of God.”

24TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2008 IN YOUR PRAYERS: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently especially Vincent Kenopic, William Johnston and Jim Deslaurier Sr. We pray for our sick, especially Mary Russell, Kathy Searson, Dennis Enright, Elvina Zavitski, Joyce McMahon, Stan Deacon, Gerry Emon, Richard Leppert, Lucille Leveck-Kalimeris, Joseph Valliquette, Stella Kearney, Elizabeth Brumm, Tracy Mulvihill, Gladys McNulty, Marie Hanrahan, Mary Drake, Ed Lee, Shirley Church, and Helen Valliquette.

PARISH PHOTO DIRECTORY Many years ago the Parish had a Photo Directory done. It is now fun to look back at the history of the time as we see one another’s younger faces. And of course, many of our younger families have not had the opportunity to be in it. With the access we have to modern technology, the Pastoral Council is about to embark on a project of creating a new directory that will enhance our computer files of parishioners. Over the next few months we will have a camera set up for people to drop in after Mass in the Parish Hall and have personal and/or family pictures taken. We will eventually have an ongoing and renewing photo directory. A few points of interest to begin: ♦ there will be no cost to you; ♦ you will not be asked to purchase anything; ♦ you will eventually be able to access a copy of our directory as we have it well under way. It will primarily be an electronic version on a disc. If there is interest, we may have a printed version at a nominal cost; ♦ our own parishioners have volunteered to take the pictures; ♦ hopefully, some people will donate a few “baked goods” for our after Mass coffee/tea and juice gatherings while pictures are taken. Please look for updates in the bulletin over the next few weeks – and a final note: We have volunteers to do a large amount of the work. We need someone to coco - ordinate this project – that t hat is – a couple of people who will see that the volunteers are in place and that the Parish staff are on line as needed.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE: As we move into our Fall schedule you will see a project for “Shepherds of Good Hope” in Ottawa beginning in our Parish bulletin today. As well, the Development and Peace Fall Campaign is about to begin. I am inviting anyone interested in the Social Justice Committee and/or issues to join with our regular members for a coffee after the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, September 21 st in the rectory meeting room (back door of the house).

SHEPHERD’S OF GOOD HOPE:

We are collecting items for the Shepherds of Good Hope. Please drop off any of the following items at the parish office until the end of September: good winter clothing (boots, socks, sweaters, pants, coats, gloves, sheets, eets, towels, wash hats); aprons, tea towels, cutlery, mugs, plates, bowls, twin sh cloths, toiletries (razors, soap, shaving cream, tooth brushes, shampoo). We will also be at the church doors for your monetary donation. WEEKDAY MASS: A word of appreciation to the large number of parishioners who joined in the celebration of Mass with students of St. Thomas The Apostle School on Thursday. Your prayerful presence is a wonderful example to our students of our community spirit of worship.
