SENSE Completion Process

Developed by the

American Welding Society as part of the

SENSE Workshop Series

Full or Partial Completion (Only applies to Level I - Entry Welder) 

Modules that must be completed:  Module

1–  Module 2 –  Module 3 –

Occupational Orientation

 Module

8–

Thermal Cutting Processes (Units 1 and 3 minimum)

Welding Inspection and Testing

Safety and Health of Welders Drawing and Welding Symbol Interpretation

Successful Full Completion 

Record of Successful Completion form  Trainee’s

name and address  Actual grade on the written safety test – 100%  Actual grade on the other modules’ written tests – 75%   

Workmanship Sample - Visual Inspection form (found in QC10) Face- and Root-Bend Tests Results form (found in QC10) $15 fee per student

Successful Partial Completion 

Record of Successful Completion form  Trainee’s

name and address  Actual grade on the safety written closed book test – 100%  Actual grade on written, closed book tests for modules completed – 75%   

Workmanship Sample - Visual Inspection form (found in QC10) If applicable, Face- and Root-Bend Tests Results form (found in QC10) $15 fee per student

Visual Inspection Results

Face- and Root-Bend Test Results

Mail completion forms to AWS. Include $15 fee per student.

All information must be filled out correctly.

Fill in written test score as a percentage and the date when exam was completed.

Mark practical test result as Pass or Fail for welding process(es) completed.

Sign and date by instructor.

Must be filled out and submitted to AWS for each welding process tested.

Sign and date by instructor or test supervisor.

Must be filled out and submitted to AWS for SMAW welding process.

Sign and date by instructor or test supervisor.

Certificate AWS mails SENSE Completion Certificate and Certification Card to the training organization. Certificate may be mailed to trainee at his/her request.

Record of Completion

Graduate’s name is added to the AWS SENSE Entry Welders database.
