Beth Leeper Senior Seminar Mr. Storlie 13 March 2019 Interview Nanci Nolan went on to explain how she teaches the children that attend her Daycare daily. Mrs. Nolan explains to me that manners and normal family things are a must when children leave her Daycare. She also believes that some of the cartoons played today are not helpful to a child’s brain. For example, she only lets her children watch the cartoons that are helpful to a child’s brain. Nanci goes on to explain how the food she serves most likely helps the learning process. She always has the main foods, fruits, vegetables, a meat source, and milk. Many of the kids get second helpings for their food, but they always have to ask with please and thank you. Mrs. Nolan tries to teach as much as she can at Daycare, but she goes on to tell me that some things need to be taught in school to fully understand it. Nanci also believes that the age where children retains the most information are the ages one through three, because they learn so much in that time frame. Nanci has been doing Daycare for many years and has been able to observe kids of all ages and the way that their brain develops. I personally worked for Nanci four years in a row, and got to see how a child grows and how much repetition helps children. A good meal followed by nap time help children tremendously. In addition, coloring while the adult is teaching helps a child’s brain obtain the most information.
