Exhibitor Security Tip: Be sure to reference our Security Tips and Tricks at the end of this section to help avoid the potential for theft.
15-1
Security Information CES provides 24-hour hall and perimeter security to ensure as secure an environment as possible for exhibitors. Every reasonable effort is made to prevent losses. However, the exhibit floor is not completely secure and it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to take measures to avoid theft. It is strongly recommended that you hire guards and security cages to protect your displays and product at all times until your outbound shipment is physically picked up. Securing Venetian Exhibitor Meeting Rooms Note: all meeting rooms are joined by airwall doors that cannot be locked and Venetian in-house services may also have access to these rooms. We strongly encourage exhibitors to hire security for their meeting rooms and secure valuables, specifically during move-in and overnight hours when exhibitor staff are not present. CES show management, GES and The Venetian are not responsible for any thefts that occur in any meeting room.
15-2
Hiring Booth Security Exhibitors have three (3) options for hiring booth security at CES: Option #1: Any of the companies below can be hired to provide security guards in your booth. You do not have to hire the company that is providing perimeter security for your particular hall: • • •
Pro-Tect Security will provide perimeter security around the LVCC North and Central Halls. SOA will provide perimeter security around the LVCC South Halls and Las Vegas Hilton. COP Security will provide perimeter security around Sands/Venetian

Option #3: A person who is a bona fide full time employee of the exhibiting company may be present in the booth for the purpose of providing security. This does not include part time employees, consultants, I&D workers or 10-99 type workers. Staff working your booth must wear an official badge. E-mail
[email protected] to obtain a late night or 24hour work pass as well as written direction on what action an employee should take if suspicious activity is observed.
15-14
Display Product Delivery Information Display product may arrive any time after your official target move in date, however, for security purposes we strongly recommend delaying delivery to your booth until Thursday, January 3, 2008. Although perimeter security is provided, exhibitors should order their own booth security in case product needs to be delivered prior to this date. CES is not responsible for any theft of property. Please review the section of your exhibit space contract entitled Responsibility for Property. The Consumer Electronics Association and its employees or contractors assume no liability for loss or injury due to theft, fire, accident, or any other destructive causes. We strongly suggest that you obtain a rider to your existing insurance policy to protect your booth/product from the time it leaves your warehouse to the time it returns. Contact your insurance agent for details. For added security, you may order a locking security cage from GES. For more information or to order a cage, please call (800) 475-2098. Should you experience a theft or security incident on-site, immediately proceed to the CES Security Office in LVCC rooms C-105 or S-219 or Sands room 101, lower level to file a report. This is for documentation purposes only and is different than an insurance claim. Claims must be filed with your insurance provider, not GES or CES.
15-15
Security Do’s and Don’ts x DO contact your insurance agent and make sure your booth/exhibit is appropriately covered in case of theft or damage. x DO inventory all valuable items in your booth by recording serial numbers and descriptions. and take pictures of valuable pieces of equipment! x DO contact GES to arrange for secure accessible storage. x DO secure your staff's personal property, briefcases, purses and toolboxes. x DO cover your product each night. x DO contact CES Security immediately if assistance is needed. x DO stay with your product on closing day until it has been securely packed and picked up for shipment; or, hire booth security for this duty. x DO nOT give product away to or offer laborers the opportunity to “help themselves” to your discarded product. x DO nOT mark the contents on the carton. x DO nOT store your excess product in "empty cartons."
Security Measures x Whether it’s for a few moments or overnight, never leave small electronic equipment such as video players, monitors, cameras, PC’s, cell phones, etc. unattended in your booth. x
Security cages can be rented. If you cannot lock-up your valuables, you may want to consider hiring a booth guard from the security contractor managing operations in your show location.
x
When shipping any product, do not identify contents on outside of cartons and boxes. Use coded labels.
x
Do not ship VCR’s, PC’s or other electronic equipment in the manufacturers’ cartons. Consolidate shipments of several boxes into one large crate or carton. You may also elect to rent certain pieces of electronic equipment from one the official contractors.
x
If storing empty cartons and crates in an un-secure area, do not leave valuables in them!
x
After the close of the show and when your materials are packed, turn in Outbound Material Handling Forms (OMHF) at the GES Exhibitor Servicenter. Do not leave them in your booth or attached to crates. Stay with your product, if possible. You may elect to hire a booth guard, and instruct them that only staff from your company is allowed in your booth until the freight is picked up.
x
Wear your exhibitor badge at all times while inside the show locations.
