Lauren Hyde, Florida D • 5-9 • Sr. • Carmel, Ind. Lauren Hyde served up the 35-yard free kick that freshman Holly King headed in for Florida’s final goal in UF’s 3-0 win versus No. 13 South Carolina on Oct. 30. In addition, Hyde turned in her fifth consecutive and 13th complete match of the season. From her center back position, Hyde anchored the UF defensive effort as the Gators recorded their fourth consecutive shut out. Hyde owns four assists this season, which placed her in a three-way tie for second among the Gators.

SEC FRESHMAN Of The Week McKenzie Barney, Florida M/D • 5-5 • Sammamish, Wash. McKenzie Barney scored twice in the opening half to lead Florida to a 3-0 win over No. 13 South Carolina. The win secured the Gators’ thirst consecutive SEC title. She scored the game-winning goal in the 20th minute when she knocked in the rebound off an Erika Tymrak shot that hit the cross bar. Five minutes later she took a pass from Tymrak and hit a seven-yard shot to the far post. Barney moved into Florida’s starting lineup four matches ago and since that time has turned in two double-goal matches versus nationally ranked opponents (No. 17 LSU and No. 13 South Carolina) and had an assist on UF’s only goal in a 1-0 win at Arkansas.

If a game is canceled, neither team will receive a point and the standings will be determined by average points per game. The two teams in each division with the highest number of points will be the divisional champions. Tie Breaker Procedure: The tournament will be seeded 1-8 regardless of division based on the point system implemented to determine regular season standings (win counts as three points, a tie as one and a loss as zero points). If teams are tied, the following procedure, in the following order, will be used to break the tie: 1. Head-to-head competition; 2. Goal differential in all conference games; 3. Goals scored in all conference games; and 4. Coin flip or draw.

Ole Miss closed out the regular season with wins over Mississippi State (2-0) and Alabama (1-0). The Rebels earned the tournament’s No. 3. It’s the highest seed for Ole Miss since being the No. 2 seed in 2005, while the Rebels join Florida as the only teams to advance to the league tournament each of the last 13 seasons. The seven league wins are second-most in school history behind the 2005 squad’s eight SEC victories. The 13 total wins are tied for fourth-most in a season in school history. Ole Miss extended its record against SEC West foes to an astounding 19-1-5 since 2005 by going 4-0-1 this year. Steve Holeman’s team is 5-12 all-time in SEC Tournament play and is looking for its first win there since 2004. The Rebels’ best SEC Tournament finish was in 1999 when they reached the championship game against Florida

South Carolina has earned the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament and will face No. 5 Georgia Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the final quarterfinal match. The matchup marks the second consecutive year that the Gamecocks and Bulldogs will meet in the No. 4/5 quarterfinal pairing. Georgia defeated USC 2-1 in the night match last season. The Gamecocks had a record breaking regular season with a program-best second place finish in the SEC East and came within one game of winning the overall title. The Gamecocks advance to their fourth consecutive SEC Tournament under Shelley Smith, whose team has improved in the conference standings each of the past five seasons. USC holds a 1-7-1 overall record in seven appearances in the SEC Tournament, but the team has advanced to the semifinal round twice in the past three seasons.

Tennessee secured the eighth seed in the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala., and will open play on Nov. 4 against top-seeded and conference regular-season champion Florida. In its regular-season finale, UT dropped a hard-fought, 2-1 decision at No. 22 Georgia, despite the third goal of the season from freshman Jayden Barrett off the fourth assist of the campaign by rookie midfielder Amy Harrison. A late shot in the final 30 seconds by Harrison was touched by diving UGA keeper Michelle Betos and hit the right post before being cleared out of danger. Senior Mick Imgram saw her six-match point-scoring streak and three-match goal-scoring skein come to an end, but the Clifton, Va., native still leads the SEC in goals with a career-best 12. Tennessee’s appearance in the annual SEC Tournament will be the program’s 12th consecutive, dating back to the only time UT missed the event, 1997.

Vanderbilt defeated Kentucky 2-0 Friday night to end the regular season. The Commodores won their fourth straight game via shutout and clinched a spot in the SEC tournament. VU, making its first postseason appearance since 2006, will be the seventh seed and will take on No. 2 seed LSU on Wednesday. The two teams went into overtime during the regular season with the Tigers coming away with a 2-1 win on Oct. 11 in Nashville. The four-game conference win streak is the best since opening league play in 2005 with a 5-0 mark. The four straight shutout wins is also the most clean sheets since that skein. Candace West scored her second goal of the season as did Margaux Andrews in the win over UK. Goalkeeper Rachel Bachtel recorded her seventh solo shutout of the year and the team’s ninth. She recorded three saves in the game and now has 16 career shutouts, third best in school history.
