SUBMEDIA

Position: Founder and owner Duration: March 2005 - Present Submedia was founded in 2005 and has ambitions to be a publisher of coffee-table books, street papers, journals, blogs and various printed material for the alternative reader. Submedia has a number of projects on the go and is currently under contract to produce a coffee-table book due to be released in South Africa at the end of 2010.



EAPPI (Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme for Palestine and Israel)

The EAPPI is a secular organisation seeking to bring a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions. My duties within this programme included writing reports on various areas in the West Bank addressing subjects such as water restrictions, access to land, freedom of movement and West Bank Jewish settler activity. These reports were then used by the Red Cross and various arms of the United Nations in their own work. •

Blend Magazine

Position: Project manager and Editor Duration: February 2007 – December 2007 Reference: on request Commissioned to set up a shelf magazine for Soul Candi, a Johannesburg based dance music label and culture distributor, producer and promoter. My job included managing the overall aspects of setting up the magazine, including budget, content, distribution, printing and possible partnerships. Upon set up my work concentrated on the development of the content, image and consumption of the magazine while managing the advertising and operational day-to-day.



Red24

Position: Editor Duration: May 2002 – November 2007 Reference: on request Red24 provides global security advice, both preventative and reactive to help companies and individuals manage and avoid personal risks. My job as editor included managing an editorial team, setting the standard of produced work, and ensuring the development of new avenues of content creation. My team had to ensure that we communicated the latest advice based on relevant information from media sources, humanitarian organisations, and consultants on the ground that includes journalists and military personnel.

Other work

A collection of written and photographic work for various magazines and online content providers including SL, Stage, www.iafrica.com, Picasso Headlines, The Publishing Partnership of South Africa, The Big Issue and a small collection of consumer magazines. I covered the international World Summit on Sustainable Development from 26 August – 4 September 2002. I also completed internships with the South African Press Association (SAPA) and the Citizen newspaper in 2001.
