Lesson Plan School: Sheen Mount Primary School Address: West Temple Sheen, SW14 7RT Teacher: Mrs Reynolds Curriculum Area / Area of Learning: Show and Tell / Science Year: 1 The lesson objective: To be able to observe woodlice.

How the visualiser was used? The Visualiser was used first by the teacher to demonstrate how to use it and then by the children to gain a closer look at woodlice. A child had brought one in from home and by using the visualiser the children were able to see in close detail the features of it. By using the zoom feature they were able to discuss the number of legs it had how it moved around and closely examine its outer structure. Over the course of the next few weeks the children were able to look at other minibeasts and compare features, they used the visualiser to examine, frogspawn, tadpoles and frogs as well as spiders, caterpillars, bumblebees, empty birds eggs etc. The benefits of the Visualiser to teaching & learning: • Enabled all of the children to see what was being demonstrated by watching on a large screen. • To be able to see small detail in great focus on a big screen. • Children were able to observe how small creatures move around. • Children were able to make direct comparisons with other creatures by comparing pictures taken of other minibeasts.
