Assignments • Introduce yourself on the “Getting Acquainted” discussion board forum. • Evaluate the objectives of a sample online course.

Week 2 Monday, 12/7: Noon – 3:00 p.m., JTR 400 • Welcome: GianMario Besana • Presentation: DOTS Alumni Show and Tell, Heather Sattler, Barbara Rieckhoff • Presentation: Identifying Core Course Objectives, Sharon Guan • Activity: Beginning Your Course Blueprint, Jean Bryan • Training: Blackboard Basics – announcements, email, customizing course menu, and discussion board features, Daniel Stanford Assignments • Read Module 2, Topic 1: Aligning Objectives, Assignments, and Resources. • Complete course blueprint for one module. Assemble text, images, links, and other resources for one module and bring to class on Tuesday. Tuesday, 12/8: Noon – 3:00 p.m., JTR 400 • Training: Creating Items and Folders in Blackboard, Daniel Stanford • Training: Building Learning Materials with SoftChalk, Melissa Koenig • Discussion: Course Blueprints Assignments • Read Module 2, Topic 2: Building an Online Course Community. Wednesday, 12/9: Noon – 3:00 p.m., JTR 400 • Training: Intro to Viddler and VoiceThread, Rick Salisbury, Daniel Stanford • Discussion: Uses for Viddler or VoiceThread and Alternative Ways to Build Community Assignments • Write a script for self-introduction video or slideshow. • Read Module 2, Topic 3: Syllabus, Orientation, and Support Materials. Thursday, 12/10: Online (no face-to-face meeting) Assignments • Read Module2, Topic 4: Assignment, Grading, and Discussion Guidelines. • Finish self-introduction video or slideshow. • Develop an online discussion activity.

Tuesday, 12/15: Noon – 3:00 p.m., JTR 400 • Training: Intro to Wimba • Discussion: Potential Wimba Uses and Alternatives • Presentation: Teaching Writing Online, Scott Warnock Assignments • Read Module 3, Topic 2: Saving Time and Setting Boundaries • Try creating and using a Wimba room in your sandbox course. Wednesday, 12/16: Noon – 3:00 p.m., JTR 400 • Presentation: Online Portfolio Tools, Michael Moore • Presentation: Multimedia Resources, Daniel Stanford • Training: Google Docs, Daniel Stanford and Sarah Brown Assignments • Read Module 3, Topic 3: Academic Integrity in Online Learning. Thursday, 12/17: Online (no face-to-face meeting) Assignments • Read Module 3, Topic 4: Testing Tools and Identifying Questions. • Prepare a list of any tools or concepts that you’re having trouble with or would like to discuss further during Friday’s face-to-face meeting.
