Equal Housing Opportunity

A LOCAL FAMILY that lost its home and belongings in an earlymorning fire on Wednesday on Jackie Drive is in need of housing, clothing and food. The family includes Mary Martz and Steven Anderson and their sons, Kullen Anderson, 23, and Austin Koehn, 10. The American Red Cross has provided housing at a local motel for several nights, along with a supply of groceries. Martz’ sister, Mel Garrett of Bandon, said, “They don’t have anything now, and they’re unemployed. So, if anyone has any of the basics - like clothing, bedding, furniture or household items - that they’d be willing to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.” Donations for the family can be dropped off at Wilson’s Market, 90 June Ave. S.E. Garrett added, “We’re hoping that someone may have an old manufactured home or other housing that could be donated to the family or made available at minimal expense.” An account to benefit the family is being set up at Sterling Savings Bank in Bandon. Those interested can contribute through the Mary Martz Fire Fund account. Anyone who may be able to help the family with housing or who would like more information on clothing sizes or other specific needs can call Garrett at 347-1794.
