Rudolf Eucken was born in 1846, on 5 of January. He studied at Göttingen University and Berlin University. He stayed there but in 1874 he took a similar job at the University of Jena, Germany. He stayed there until he retired in 1920. He married in 1882 and he had a daughter and two sons. His son Walter Eucken became a famous founder of neoliberal thought in economics. He was a very talented writer. His best works are: 1.- “The problem of Human Life as Viewed by the Great Thinkers”. (1890) 2.- “The Struggle for a Spiritual Content of Life”. (1896) 3.- “The truth of Religion”. (1901)
4.- “Life’s Basis and Life’s Ideal: The Fundamentals of a New Philosophy of Life”. (1907) 5.- “The Meaning and Value of Life”. (1908) 6.- “Main Currents of Modern Thought”. (1908) 7.- “Can we still Be Christians? (1911) 8.- “Deem Lectures given at the New York University”. (1913) 9.- “Socialism: an Analysis”. (1920)
Finally, he died in Jena at the age of 80, in 1926.
