Robots –What are they? A robot is a mechanical or virtual, artificial agent. A robot is usually an electromechanical system, which, by its appearance or movements, conveys a sense that it has intent or agency of its own. The word robot can refer to both physical robots and virtual software agents,

While there is still discussion about which machines qualify as robots, a typical robot must have several, but not all of the following properties:

 Is not 'natural' / has been artificially created.  Can sense its environment.  Can manipulate things in its environment.  Has some degree of intelligence  Ability to make choices based on the environment, or automatic control / preprogrammed sequence.  Is programmable.  Can move with one or more axes of rotation or translation.  Can make dexterous coordinated movements.

Robotic Car Robot (driverless) cars are a new class of Robots That Jump with tough bodies allowing realworld interaction plus plenty of power to run the fastest computers possible, robot cars are probably the most advanced non-humanoid robots around.

Car-robots use cheap, reliable, high-performance robot bodies. Only high-end researchers can afford to build advanced mobile robotics bodies. In contrast, cars are relatively cheap and reliable. Newer cars have microprocessor controls

Car-robots are natural entertainers. People have a long tradition of treating their cars as something special, and the huge cult of auto worship scarcely needs mentioning. Millions of people flock to see car-based entertainment - monster trucks, tricked-out dragsters, low-riders 5 Curio the mechanical robot car. Curio – Our Robotic Car

Curio our robot car has the dimensions 28x20x8 and is made of acrylic substance having high strength and low cost its tiers are rubber based with gripping material on top with radius about 6 cm. it is provided with a remote having controls for forward and reverse motion of the two motors of the front wheels.

The components 1.

The vehicle body

2.The motors 3.The remote control 4.Tires 

The body is made of high quality Acrylic Polymer. The substance is of very good strength and can take huge loads without reaching breakdown. It is flexible and can be easily cut into desired shapes. It is cheaper as compared to other materials used for making robo bodies. It is light in weight and thus the best choice for a small scale Robotic car.

Two 100 rpm geared motors have been used to control the front wheels. The gears allow better control and more torque for power purposes. The plastic gears ensure that the motors are not very heavy.

The remote control controls the direction of the tires. For this the motor is kept in a H-bridge. That is, by changing the direction of the current to the motor the direction of its rotation and thus the direction of tires can be controlled.  The tires are rubber based with strong rim to provide support for the bulky body of the vehicle. The rubber gripping makes it an all terrain vehicle.

Its Capabilities Curio has been extensively tested and found to hold the following capabilities: It can run on most terrains with an appreciable speed. It can pull heavy loads uphill with mass as much as its own. 

It can also drag some load up the hill with appreciable accuracy.

TESTING 1. Curio has been extensively tested on the BVP teela track on account of the ongoing robotics event in the college. 2. It was tested for its sharp turns and its speed. 3. It was made to pull appreciable load up the hill having inclination as much as 25 degrees. 4. It also dragged plastic ball up the hill with considerable precision.

Loop holes/ Future Changes The motors of the robot are reportedly damaged by the uphill task. The gears have been found to get stuck. Also the gripping of the tires on the surface is not good. The robot is due to be changed in terms of the motor, the power it draws, and its wheels. The size of the wheels, their position on the body and their alignment system are to be reconsidered. The turning mechanism of the robot is also not satisfactory and will be reconsidered.
