Thursday, October 15, 2009 8:00 – 8:25 – Students enter and get ready for the day. Brandon and Kirk should put up the flags. They will need the key which is on the magnetic hook on the right edge of the bookshelf beside my desk. 8:25 – 8:30 – Students pass forward the assignments that are due. Just pass them forward one subject at a time. Assignments go in the file folders next to the printer. Ask Zac Bork or Lia Vick for which assignments are due. 8:30 – Take attendance on the sheet provided. Have a student take the sheet to the office. 8:30 – 8:35 – Students prepare for Catechism. They should have their Catechism materials ready. Pastor K usually arrives about 8:35. 8:35 – 9:45 – the students have Catechism with Pastor K. I am free during that time. Enjoy the quiet! 9:45 – 10:30 – Musical Dress Rehearsal. The students should use the restroom and then get lined up. They will to the church to watch the performance. We typically sit near the back on the left side. Mr. Luehring will help you with where to sit the class. 10:30 – 10:55 – I’m not sure how long the performance will be. The students may have a study period until recess time. 10:55 – 11:00 – students should use restroom, get a snack, and get lined up for recess. 11:00 – 11:15 – Recess 11:15 – 12:00 – The students will have either Mr. Stubalt for History or Mrs. Schneider for Language Arts. I have Science 6 in the Lab. Please head to the lab with the 6th graders. They are working on a group project. They should continue working on the construction for the project. They should have all the materials they need. Some students may ask you to cut popsicle sticks for them. There is a large scissors in the middle drawer of the teacher desk that can be used. They should begin cleaning up at 11:55. 12:00 – 12:40 – Science 7 in 7th grade room. Students should read Chapter 3 - Lesson 1 and do the corresponding worksheet. You may feel free to teach the content, but letting them work, is fine, too. 12:40 – 1:00 – Lunch. Students eat in the room. 1:00 – 1:20 – Recess 1:20 – 1:30 – Students get cleaned up from recess and then it’s time for Devotion. Use the Best Loved Passages book. Ready the devotion on page 100.
1:30 – 2:10 – The students have Literature with Mrs. Schneider. I go to the 8th grade room for science. Please distribute the test to the 8th graders. They are not allowed to use any notes or their books. Any students that want to change for PE may do so after their test is complete. 2:10 – 2:55 – Grades 7 & 8 PE. Mr. Fillner teaches this class. Please have the students line up. Mr. Fillner will get them for class. I usually help supervise during class. 2:55 – 3:05 – Closing time. Students should prepare their homework for the evening. Zac and Sam should make sure the assignments on the board are accurate. Brandon and Kirk should take the flags down (they’ll need the key again). At 3:05 students are dismissed. They should put their chairs atop the desks and make sure their desk area is clean.
Friday, October 16, 2009 8:00 – 8:35 – Same procedures as Thursday morning. 8:35 – 8:40 - Devotion. Read the devotion for the day from the Beside Quiet Waters book. 8:40 – 9:15 – Writing Assessment. Students should write a three paragraph essay on “If you could be a toy, what you be and why?” They should use the forms provided. If they finish early they may work quietly at their desk. Please remind them to plan their essay in an outline or web form before writing. 9:15 – 10:00 – Algebra Class. The students are divided into three math classes. Tell them it’s time for math and to take their materials and go. Math 87 students will go to the lab with Mr. Luehring; Pre-algebra students go to 8th grade with Mr. Fillner; Algebra students stay in the room. There will be 6 students entering from the 8th grade. Please hand out the quiz (Skills Practice 10). The students should do the even problems and turn it in to you when finished. 10:00 – 10:20 – Spelling Please hand out the assignments for pages 58-59 (collected at the beginning of the day) and correct. Please record the scores on the sheets provided. Give the spelling test to the students. Students who got 100% on Tuesday’s pre-test are exempt. If they are unsure, they should take the test. Collect the tests when finished. 10:20 – 11:00 Computer. Please a computer assignment on each keyboard. The students are grouped into pairs on the computers. Tell them to decide which person goes first and begin. They should switch at 10:40 if they haven’t already. 11:00 – 11:15 – Recess. Students may get snacks and use the restroom at 10:55. 11:15 – 11:55 – Science 7 Students should go to the class’ science website and follow the links to the material there. They should watch the Mendel video and DNA videos for sure. Students are dismissed at noon.
