RISK MINIMIZATION Health Risk Minimization Health can be at risk in different process involved in a textile industry. This is due to the dyeing of fabric which involves different hazardous chemicals, exposure to cotton and other organic dust, musculoskeletal disease because of the manpower needed and noise exposure because of the loud sounds coming from the machine. These health issues can be minimize if proper procedures will be observed. For the involvement of hazardous chemicals used in dyeing, usage of proper personal protective equipment should be observed. Also, chemicals should be safe to use if possible and if cannot, proper storage and usage should be followed. PPE should be worn to avoid a direct contact and inhalation of the chemicals. Same goes with exposure to cotton and other organic dust, PPE should be used to avoid diseases that can lead to respiratory problems. As for the machines, machines should be designed that is efficient and user friendly for the workers. If the machine emits toxic chemicals, dust, a need of putting barrier for the workers is a must. It might be a machine that collects dust or a scrubber to scrub the pollutants that are present. Safety Risk Minimization Safety can be at risk if there are no safety features present in a machine or an untrained personnel uses a machine. In order to minimize safety, a hazard analysis should be done to determine the possible hazards that may occur in a particular process. After determining the hazards, a preventive action must be done. There should always be a safety measure present in a machine so that if something wrong happened it can be fix right away. Environment Risk Minimization Environment can be at risk to due to the usage of raw materials and the wastes produced. Waste should be disposed properly as discussed in the following section of this paper. And utilizing machines that are environmentally friendly. Table 1. Risk Mitigation measures regarding Geographic and Environmental Risk To mitigate the Geographic Risk, Company take utmost care to invest or to provide material to any customer/company located in specific disturbed geographical area. In that cases, Company generally deals either on letter of credit (LC) or on advance payment so as to avoid any blockage of its capital. Apart from it, proper Insurance covers are taken to avoid any mis-happening. To mitigate the environmental risk, the Company endeavors to protect the environment in all its activities, as a social responsibility. For control of water pollution, the Company has setup a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for collecting, conveying, treating, and disposing of the effluents of the Plant/factory. Besides this,

necessary equipments have already been installed to prevent air pollution and other kinds of pollution. Extensive plantation of trees around manufacturing plants is undertaken for green belt development. Company also obtained the necessary environmental clearances, if so required, in due course and respect the local law. Quality Risk Minimization It is a big trouble for a company if there products are declared substandard by their customers. On order to prevent this scenario, a low quality product should not leave the company. From the very start, from the raw materials to be used, to the machines and to the people who are handling the materials up to the end line, everything should be in high quality. Choosing of a high quality but within the budget should be done. Machines should be properly maintained and cleaned to prevent the sudden malfunction of the machine and contaminating the product. At the end line of the process, every product should be check if it is compliant to the standards set by the customers.
