lifestyle A pie chart (left) gives a better feng shui diagnosis than a grid chart (right), especially with irregular house shapes.

Right divination IN A PROFESSIONAL FENG SHUI AUDIT, A PIE CHART IS PREFERRED OVER A GRID CHART FOR MORE ACCURATE READING by Master Soon Gim Horng

A PROFESSIONAL feng shui audit requires us to abide by the following steps: » determine the facing and sitting directions of the property; » determine the centre point of the property; » determine the direction degree reading; and » determine whether to use the grid chart or pie chart to plot the house plan. This issue, we will discuss the use of each chart. Every feng shui student is taught to be aware that there are two types of feng shui charts, namely, the pie chart and grid chart. A pie chart divides a house into eight pie sectors equally whereby a grid chart segregates a house into nine cubicles. When it comes to accurate prediction, which chart should you use for a professional feng shui audit? Some feng shui masters will suggest using a grid chart

when applying the flying star system, and using a pie chart when applying the eight mansion system. Some even propose using both depending on the situation and circumstances. I prefer the pie chart which is applicable in any situation. There are just too many blind spots when you use a grid chart. Moreover, there are many academic and scientific values from using the pie chart. In my many years of experience, the pie chart method is much more accurate in terms of events prediction and feng shui diagnosis as a pie chart gives equal space distribution. The chart assures equal segmentation of the 24 sectors (24 mountains) accurately onto the house plan. This is hard to achieve through grid chart application. It is also more architecturally and mathematically correct by applying a pie chart to any house shape. A grid chart is

handicapped when faced with irregular house shapes. The pie chart provides better judgement to determine the “missing corner” or “protrude sector”. A pie chart enables you to identify centre points of a property accurately and precisely whereas a grid chart is not able to pinpoint the exact “centre” point. The pie chart also helps to superimpose the bagua (eight trigrams) immediately and perfectly. It is compatible to all the formulas in the Chinese compass which is also pie chart-oriented. Using a grid chart is totally out and against Chinese compass orientation. If you are able to think logically and rationally on the dimension of both charts, the truth will be revealed automatically. My advice to you is to determine the facing and sitting directions of the property unit first.

Thereafter, go to the centre point of the house and take the compass reading. Plot the house plan into eight sectors according to the pie chart method. By using a pie chart, you will be able to gauge each mountain or each cardinal point. Then, use your wisdom to choose which is the most suitable formula to apply. If you still insist on the grid chart application, you are ethically going against authentic feng shui formulas which is clearly pie chartoriented and has been recorded in the Chinese compass since hundreds of years ago. A true feng shui master,

who has good knowledge in water dragon feng shui, form school feng shui and external feng shui and who is also an expert in “chasing the mountainous dragon feng shui” would definitely apply pie chart. Imagine that you are lost in a jungle: it is more rational, logical and safer to justify your direction based on the pie chart method. The grid method will not be able to help you here. The cubicle in the grid chart does not give you pointers on the correct direction to save your life. Always use your wisdom to justify.
