Working as TEAM LEAD at Cadence Design Systems, Providing support for Noida India for over 6 years.

Leading the team responsible for maintaining and managing 99% uptime for Cadence Noida Data Center housing 1500+ servers with different UNIX variants.

Member of the Cadence World Wide Virtualization and Consolidation team responsible for the design and provisioning of environments using VMware based virtualization technologies.

Complete Ownership of Cadence Noida backup servers which includes both Legato Networker server and Veritas Netbackup server and supervised resolution of any problem with them.

August 2008 –Till Date Consultant - Virtualization Operations Head
•
Member of the platform design team responsible for the design and provisioning of environments using VMware based virtualization technologies.
•
Design and implementation of true production virtualization platform at Cadence, Noida consisting of twenty VMware ESX server 3.5 hosts running on SUN X4150 and Dell Blade servers and Virtual Center 2.5.
•
Assessing and analyzing user requirements to identify applications for migration onto VMware machines, decommissioning servers and applications as appropriate.
•
Creating and configuring a virtual switch including VLAN, NIC team, traffic shaping and layer security policies.
•
Implementation of ISCSI, SAN and Virtual Appliances into the Environment.
•
Implementation of VMotion, DRS and HA for critical servers.
•
Virtual Infrastructures performance Monitoring / Tuning.
•
Redeployment of existing physical hardware for use in the virtual infrastructure.
•
Zero Downtime for physical server Migration.
•
Also implemented VMware VIEW which included setting up of thin clients (SUN Rays and Wyse XP based) at the front end and Blade servers together with VMWARE virtualization solutions at the backend

Was the member of the core team which was involved in setting up of State of the art Data center at Cadence Design Systems Noida facility
•
It includes setting up the basic infrastructure and consolidation of eight server rooms in to one Data Center.
•
This involved setting up of SUN/HP/IBM/Dell machines with Solaris(sparc,x86)/HP-UX/Linux(RHEL,SUSE) installed on them
•
These machines are reimaged twice a year and patches/fixes are applied on monthly basis.
•
Also new machines are also continuously added to this. I also supervise the maintenance of hardware of this setup.

4:-Setting up of the Netbackup Server for Cadence Noida Site. Duration November 2005 –January 2006 Reporting To Operations Head •
It involved configuring of IBM LTO3 tape library having 4 drives for netbackup on a Solaris server. It also involved setting up of backup policies for backup and configuration of clients for the same.

The project involved overall System Administration & Management at Cadence Design Systems Noida. Cadence center at Noida centre which had 3 buildings and 700+ employees and 2200+ Unix systems . Day to day activities included looking after the various aspects of System Administration and Backup Support. It included imaging and reimaging SUN\IBM\HP\DELL hardware with Solaris\LINUX\HP-UX\IBM AIX with latest Patches/Packages/Fixes. It involved Implementation & Troubleshooting of issues related to NIS/NFS/DNS/Autofs It also involved solving of issues of users at Cadence Noida site through Remedy based ticketing system.
