A Four Star Response

Stars is written in complete, well-written sentences that answer all aspects of the question demonstrates understanding of both stated and unstated meanings of the text/concept ideas are supported with several specific examples from the text/concept/experiences response may be extended by: Using language of the disciple being discussed making connections to other events, literature or concept identifying Big Ideas, drawing conclusions, generalizing or summarizing noting the author's style, point of view or multiple perspectives response is purposeful and shows great depth of thought

A Three Star Response

Stars is written in complete sentences that answer all aspects of the question demonstrates understanding of stated meanings of the text/concept/experiences provides limited details to illustrate understanding ideas may be supported by an example from the text/concept response shows some depth of thought

Stars structure is weak; some aspects of the question may be missing demonstrates understanding of stated meanings of the text/concept/experiences provides no details to illustrate understanding ideas are not supported by any examples from the text/concept response shows little depth of thought
