Books to Recommend When Coaching Boomer Clients By Susan Lauzac How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free: Retirement Wisdom That You Won’t Get From Your Financial Advisor by Ernie J. Zelinski This great book about creative retirement from the author of The   Joy of Not Working for corporate rats leaving the empire. I purchased and borrowed several retirement guides in the  months just prior to retiring. As I read the other books, I  kept returning to How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free for  the author's good, down to earth suggestions. Most of the  other books focus on finances and second careers after  retirement. While both of these subjects are important  issues, they are not the only concerns you have as you  prepare for that big step into the future. How to Retire  Happy, Wild, and Free covers it all. Those worries you may  have about what to do after retiring  this book has lots of  great, affordable suggestions for you. Taking care of  yourself, continued learning and travel are all addressed.  You will not be a bored retiree. Also enjoyable are the  readers' letters to the author that are interspersed throughout  the book. Ernie Zelinski's upbeat book is highly  recommended as you prepare for that next important chapter  in your life. With this book in hand, you will be ready to  enjoy your retirement years to their fullest!  Amazon.com  review

Too Young to Retire: 101 Way to Start the Rest of Your Life by Marika and Howard Stone This engaging and informative book offers "how to"  action plans, complemented by a wide variety of  references and resources [lists of books, websites,  online groups, etc.]. The personal stories let us peek  inside, satisfying an innate curiosity and showing us  how others deal with change at this stage of life. It's  a fast and fun read, but a book that I will refer back  to time and time again. Amazon.com review Reinventing Yourself: Life Planning After 50 by Sandra Davis and Bill Handschin This book makes use of the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator with exercises and charts you can give to clients. Retire Smart, Retire Happy: Finding Your True Path in Life by Nancy K.Schlossberg, Ed.D. "There is no one retirement story, just as there is no  one single retiree and no single retirement path,"  she says. ‘Each story differs." But she also tells us  that "Transitions are a process over time’ and that

"there is a structure that cuts across all transitions  that can help you take charge."  Part of her advice is to use what she calls the "4 S  System" of knowing one's Situation, one's Self, and  one's Support as the basis for defining one's  Strategies in seeking success via a retirement path.  – Amazon.com review Breaking the Watch: The Meanings of Retirement in America by Joel S. Savishinsky Tired of reading just about the financial aspects of  retirement or all about the myths of retirement?  Hunger to know the indepth experiences of those  who have retired and spent some time looking at the  process? Well, sociologist and anthropologist Joel  Savishinsky has studied 13 women and 13 men  who've recently retired with indepth "participant observer" interviews. – Amazon.com review Retirement Planning Bibliography BY ANDY LANDIS FINANCIAL Everything You Know About Money Is Wrong: Overcoming The Financial Myths Keeping You From The Life You Want, Karen Ramsey.
