EFFECT OF MIXED FEEDING SCHEDULES WITH VARYING DIETARY PROTEIN LEVELS ON THE GROWTH OF LABEO ROHITA, CIRRHINUS MRIGALA AND CTENOPHARYNGODON IDELLA.

Sohail Arif Chattha, Dr. Nasir Ahmad and Dr. Shahnaz Akhter Rana Department of Zoology and Fisheries, University of Agriculture, Faislabad ABSTRACT: Combination of proper fish species and mixed feeding shcedule with varying

dietary protein has yielded good results under given condition in

aquaculure For this purpose a 6-month feeding trial is conducted in field conditions using 2 farm ponds (16×30×1.5m) to investigate the effect of mixed feeding schedules on the growth of Labeo rohita, Cirrhinus mrigala and Ctenopharyngodon idella. Fish will be stocked at a ratio of 100:50:25 respectiveply in both the ponds. Two diets, one of high protein (30%, Maize gluten) and the other and low protein (16%, Rice polish) were used in the experiment. The fish were fed twice daily at the rate of 4% maize gluten and 1% rice polish in pond 1 and 2% maize gluten and 3% rice polish of the body weight of the fish in pond 2 till the end of the experiment. Fork length, total length and weight gain is calculated. Limnological parameters temperature, ph, dissolved oxygen, carbonate, bicarbonate, alkalinity, total alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, and plankton biomass is explored on fortnightly bases. the net fish production in P1 for per hector per year was 3355.1 kg while in P2 for per hector per year was calculated as 3941.66 kg. These results indicate that alternate feeding on of high protein and one of low protein shows best growth rate and all statistical data over all statistical data was significant.
