A report on Efforts for Mainstreaming HIV on the event of World AIDS Day World AIDS Day is the opportunity to give message of Mainstreaming HIV at workplace and different programmes run by different organizations. Rajasthan State Mainstreaming Unit has put efforts for mainstreaming HIV at various levels.
Linkages with Indian Army Mainstreaming Team met with the CEO of Indian Army’s ‘Shurvir Battalion’ Mr. S.S. Thakur and shared the concept of mainstreaming HIV. He was very impressed with the concept of Mainstreaming HIV and expressed his curiosity to conduct HIV/AIDS Session for the master trainers of ‘Shurvir Battalion’ battalion. He demanded the IEC Material on HIV/AIDS to display with their IEC materials so that they can also contribute in dissemination of HIV/AIDS prevention messages among their own people and the community members. They have also provided the band of Indian Army free of cost on the occasion of celebration on previous twilight of World AIDS Day, where 10,000 earthen lamps were lighten by NCC Cadets and the foremost lamp was lighten by Mr. Digamber Singh Honb’le Minister of Medical, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Rajasthan, to show the solidarity against HIV/AIDS.

Linkages with Ministry of Tourism A short meeting was held with Ms. Usha Sharma (IAS), Commissioner, Ministry of Tourism regarding mainstreaming HIV and discussed how Ministry of Tourism can incorporate mainstreaming HIV in there Workplace policy and on going programmes. She accepted the proposal to tie the red ribbon on the arm of the officials of Department of Tourism and taxi drivers on the occasion of World AIDS Day as a primary step of Mainstreaming HIV. A proposal letter was given to the Commissioner for the same and Red ribbons were provided by State Mainstreaming Unit on the previous evening of World AIDS Day. The ideas of sticking the sticker having message of HIV/AIDS on the tourist vehicles and begin training sessions for there employees and stakeholders was also shared with her and she accepted those proposals.
Linkages with Corporate House The leading corporate house, FORTIS, was approached by State Mainstreaming Unit and the concept of mainstreaming HIV was shared with the CSR Representative and Chief Operating Officer of Fortis group at Jaipur. After getting information on Mainstreaming HIV and GIPA issues, they realized the importance of mainstreaming HIV internally and externally at their organization level, they have started trainings on HIV for their employees and included the issue of HIV in their induction training for new employees. For external mainstreaming, they have started imparting trainings to other organizations and corporate houses like MICO & GENUS. FORTIS group has also joint hands with Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society to organize the state level ceremony on occasion of World AIDS Day, 1st December 2007. Fortis group has organized this event in their premises (Fortis Escorts Hospital) and Honb’le Dr. Digamber Singh, Minister of Medical, Health and Family Welfare was the chief guest of this event. Chairperson of the event was Dr. P.P.S. Mathur, Vice chancellor, Medical University, Jaipur and Dr. Praneet Kumar, Chief Operating Officer and Director, Fortis Escorts Hospital; Jaipur was the Guest of Honour. Ms. Neel Kamal Darbari, IAS, Secretary Family Welfare and Mission Director NRHM were the special invitee for this event. A brochure on Mainstreaming HIV was also released on the occasion of World AIDS Day. This brochure will be sent to the all possible partners for mainstreaming HIV purposes.

Signature Campaign A signature campaign was also launched on the occasion of World AIDS Day with the objective of 1. Create responsiveness towards HIV/AIDS 2. Initiate discussion on Mainstreaming HIV 3. Help in creating enabling environment to mainstream HIV A flex having oath printed upon it, was hanged at a place and the person supporting the purpose have signed the oath. Dr. Digamber Singh was the first person, who has signed the oath and after that about 300 people have signed the oath.
