There are three of us who are going to the same school; me (Nana), Hjh Sofinah and Ferinah. We chose this school because it is convenient and easy accessible as one of us was a teacher teaching in this school. Before the lesson start We came about an hour earlier from the actual lesson so that we can prepare for the lesson. We get the computers ready and switch it on. There are about 20 units of pc in the ICT room, IWB, wireless connections and projector. However, there are only 11 units of pc including the teacher’s computer that can be connected to the internet. During the lesson At first, we asked the students to sit facing the white board so that they can listen to the teacher’s instruction. One of us showed to the students on how to use the virtual manipulative on the white screen, where to click and what to do on the screen. At the same time, the teacher asked questions to the students on fraction. Then, we asked the students to divide themselves in a bigger group of four (2 groups for girls and 2 groups for boys). Each group was asked to interact with the virtual manipulative in their bigger group.
After for about 10 minutes, they were asked to group in a smaller group of 3 or 4 members in a group. In this group, they were asked to answer the questions on the virtual manipulative. Each student in the group was asked to answer at least one question by themselves. At last when they had finished doing their work with the computers, each student was given a class work exercise to answer individually. After the lesson The students’ responses were collected and marked. From there, we found out that there is only 1 student, who can answer all the 5 questions, and 13 students who got all false. My personal view Time constraint is the main problem here as the students have limited time. During the month of ramadhan instead of one hour for 2 periods, there are 50 minutes in the 2 periods. Besides that, limitations of computers are also another problem because it did not permit the students to interact with the virtual manipulative which will help the students’ understanding. Recommendations More time are needed for the students to do better in this topic as they interact with the virtual manipulative more than once. There should be more computers for the students to use.
