this was a comment to others though my profile. but no real hackers found and goolge helped me. thank you google. the default image and user name at the very top of the start menu. how do i hide this within the registry? i have tried all my hack tools that i can think of and nothing seems to do the job. i do not want to use the classis start menu view found under the taskbar and start menu properties - looks like crap that way. i need to know where to find it within the registry and do not send me to any download sites at all, or i'll delete the message and block that person! thank you google for the information. hiding all this will stop the script errors that pops up when you go to your start menu to click onto a shortcut. sometimes, when you do this your user account window pops up reading error within a script. to fix this, hack it! stop the video at any time if you need to read the information. here are the right codes to hide your user name, as so, you don't have to play around with your registry editor. name the .reg to 'nousername.reg' # [the codes] windows registry editor version 5.00 [hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion \policies\explorer] "nousernameinstartmenu"=dword:00000001 # [the codes] note: to undo the changes set the 1 to a 0 (more) the most likely causes would come from either 'windows blinds' theme that was installed wrong or uninstalled. or, 'gtgina.dll' which is found at c:\windows\system32\gtgina.dll this .dll is from the linksys usb adapter wireless - g wifi which comes with this .dll that is a login script of some kind. deleting this .dll does not and i repeat, will not mess up your wifi and/or system! i know this to be true because i do all the time. i'm like a car where as i push myself to the limits. so, what is gtgina doing there in the first place? sypware. uninstalling your wifi will not get it out, you have to remove by your selfe. update. when you try to change it to something else the old folder will still be there, however, the system will generate a new 'user account' folder and it will not recognize it when you try to place it back. the only way i found that works is to delete the folder that the system had regenerated. this was a test to see if i could get the little red x from appearing on the user account: nusrmgr.cpl after you place it back to the way i tought you you must reboot. mind you all works just that i'm trying to remove the rex x. i like to be clean. # [registry codes i was working with] [hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\hints\your user name] "picturesource"="c:\\documents and settings\\michaela\\my documents\\my pictures\\your user name.bmp" # [registry codes i was working with]
