Concurrent Disorders 2

Centre for Concurrent Disorders http://www.vch.ca/programs/ddp.htm The Centre for Concurrent Disorders is a community-based, outpatient service funded by Vancouver Coastal Health. The program supports those individuals who present with both a chemical dependency disorder and a serious psychiatric illness (such as clinical depression, anxiety, or thought disorders). The program promotes accessibility and treatment. It matches client needs to clinical services and includes programs for Youth, Adults, Aftercare / Maintenance, Alumni, and Families. The Dual Diagnosis Program of Greater Vancouver is an outpatient service offering limited access to one-on-one counselling, an addictions specialist, a psychiatrist, and a resource centre. For information call and leave a message at 604-255-9843



Vancouver Community Mental Health Services also offers a concurrent disorders program specifically for youth 12 to 24 in age. To find out more, contact 604-251-2264



There are residential treatment programs available in the lower mainland including Berman House in Vancouver 604-254-6065



Support Groups like Double Trouble, Dual Diagnosis Anonymous, Dual Recovery Anonymous and others offer support. Call the Alcohol and Drug Referral Service at 604-660-9382 or 1-800-663-1441 for groups in your area



Some addiction treatment centres accept people with concurrent disorders, but these services are not geared towards the specific needs of people living with mental illness 2.7.3

The group therapy treatment programs are usually 4 to 5 weeks in duration.

604-438-3755 This addiction treatment, Vancouver based facility provides addiction counselling utilizing both group therapy and individual counselling. The addiction treatment for Vancouver youth also provides addiction assessments and case management counselling. Individual and group youth addiction counselling includes training in life skills. Where needed the addiction treatment program will make referrals to external services within the Vancouver region. The duration of this program is usually 6 weeks.
