Reflection Paper on Character Development Last September 5, 2009, Saturday, there was a seminar on Office Decorum and Character Development held in the Center of Performing Arts. Basically, the main idea of the speaker in that seminar was all about the Etiquettes of a person. What do you mean by Etiquettes? According to my dictionary it means, the rules and conventions governing correct or polite behavior in society in general or in a specific social or professional group or situation or, in other and much more simpler words it’s just simply means like the proper manners and attitudes of a person in real life situations. The message of the seminar was very clear to me because of the speaker, Mrs. Belle Grandea, stated an example which was very lucid and understandable. She gave an example which we could always encounter in just living our lives, e.g. Proper attire in the right place and time, being a gentleman to old and young people surrounding you and most of all, what should be your right attitude after graduating. One of the most striking statement for me was when the speaker said that women in the present days are considered to be “predators”. At first it was quite confusing to me but when she cleared everything up, I realized that in some way or another, what the speaker said is true. She told us that most of the women today are not even concern with morality, they somewhat do the first move to get what they want, which is 90% true. As we all noticed I don’t know what’s up with the world right now, why the Etiquettes of a Person are quickly fading, is it because of technology that is vastly growing? or is it the people themselves which are changing for the worst and not for the better? I do hope that in the long run, what Etiquettes we learned from our parents shall be brought back again and lead us to a better life.
