Synopsis Methanol [CH30H] is very active ingredient in “Bio-Diesel” and is

very inflammable in nature. When the concentration of Methanol in air becomes more than 6% v/v, it can create a severe explosion upon ignition. That is why it becomes mandatory to monitor its concentration to ensure the safety of both equipment and working personnel. Methanol detectors are deployed in the vicinity where the chances of spillage / leakage are more and its concentration is continuously monitored. Any increase in the concentration beyond a preset safe level will trigger an alarm alerting the personnel to take corrective action.
