Narrative Report of the Training “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss Cliché as it may seem, the aforementioned adage was reiterated by the English Department to the students during the first Flag Raising Ceremony of the month of November to serve as a reminder of the value of reading.
In support to the DepEd’s campaign to promote among our students the love for reading as well as to clebrate the diversity of learners and ciulture through reading, CEVMHS intensified its reading program as guided by this year’s theme: Pagbasa: Susi sa Magandang Kinabukasan. Among the activities held were the synchronized reading activity, share a book, and Help a Reader program. Moreover, as the culmination of the national reading month, students, faculty and staff actively participated in the synchronized reading at 9:00 A.M. Philippine Standard Time in pursuant to RA 10556 which declares November 27 as a regular working holiday to celebrate Araw ng Pagbasa. In this regard, students were advised to bring books prior to reading activity they can utilize for the reading activity. The bell was rang at 9:00 in the morning to signal the commencement of the synchronized reading activity wherein everybody was encouraged to drop everything and devoted 30 minutes for a reading session.
Some of the books brought by the students were also donated to the school learning resource center to provide additional reading references for the students to utilize during their spare time. Overall, the reading month celebration was a success through the consolidated effort of the teachers in the English Department with the supervision of our beloved principal, Mrs. Imelda D. Sison.
