DepEd ORDER no. 10, s. 2013 otherwise known as the school calendar for the school year (SY) 2013-2014. The month of July is scheduled for the national nutrition month in which this year’s theme “Gutom at Malnutrisyon, Sama-sama Nating Wakasan”. As the compliance of every school, Calicanan High School Faculty and Staff celebrate the importance of the said activity and want their students to feel the essence of the national nutrition month. In order to make this happen, every Thursday the school conducts its feeding program good only for the month of July. In this connection, every year level prepares a nutritious food that everyone can avail. Each level, they planned their own menu in which it is easy to prepare and cheap yet nutritious one. By following the daily classes, every Thursday morning, there are only two to three high school students that are allowed to prepare and cook the food for their classmates. These students are given Remedial Instructions by the teachers to catch up the missed lessons in their respective classrooms. During recess time, their food is ready to be served. Every student enjoys eating as well as the teachers who in the other hand have fun watching his/her students being satisfied and filled their hungry stomach. As the month of July will soon to end, the students leave a scar to their mind and stored it to their long term memory as their experience continues. Their laughter, their bonding, and getting to know each other are much expressed because of their eagerness to do their participation and to make every event of July a possible one. In compliance with the said activity, the teaching staffs of Calicanan High School, which was headed by our very own Teacher-In-Charge, Mr. Darwin C. Libetario together with his ever supportive Nutrition coordinator, conducted a whole day program last July 31, 2013,Wednesday at 8 o’clock in the morning up to 4 o’clock in the afternoon to broaden the knowledge of the students about the health benefits of good nutrition through cooking contest and with the help of the two among knowledgeable judges when it comes on cuisine as well as facilitating a slogan and poster making contest concerning on the above mentioned topic which were done simultaneously in the morning. At the same time, wealso highlighted the contest of “.Pinaka dako, gamay and taas na Fruits and Vegetables”. The cooking contest was voluntarily participated by the students from Garde 7 down to 4th year student who tolerantly brought all the necessary ingredients most particulary the “Puso sa Saging” and other ingredients. The Judges found it difficult to decide because according to them all foods/outputs were delicious creative and nutritious. They just fluctuated on affordability and equality of taste. While they were busy tabulating the score, different events were introduced in the afternoon. We highlighted the different games consecutively like Pinoy Henyo, the Takarang Boys (Kawayan) / Girls (Bagol), and the most awaited event, the Jingle contest. After that, Mr. Darwin C. Libetario called up all the participants to gather in front of the stage to witness the awarding of winners of the said events. However, nobody from them went home ill fated because all participants were awarded with an appreciation gift. Furthermore, Poster making contest and Slogan making contest was held at one classroom, particularly in the computer laboratory. All of them completed their works at

prescribed time and posted each one’s creation on the board for judging. It was indeed a whole day of fun! A whole day of talent show! And most of all, a whole day of vegetable-packed belly!
