The Wizard of Oz Chapters 1and 2 Directions: Answer the following questions about CHAPTERS ONE and TWO using your own words. 1. Name each character and give a short description as they are presented in the story. Include name, age, place of birth, place of residence, job and their relationship to Dorothy

Dorothy: She was a girl that all her live lived with her uncle henry and her aunt Em in the state of Kansas (in the great prairie). She had a pet called Toto, which was her friend because they played every day and she was always laughing. Place of Birth: Kansas Place of Residence: The great Kansan prairie Age:14 years old (aprox) Occupation: Peasant Henry: He was Dorothy´s Uncle, henry had gray hair like the grass of the prairie. He had the tired face because had worked very hard all her live. His social condition is that he was poor and never he smiled. Place of Birth: Kansas Place of Residence: The great Kansan prairie Job: Farmer Age:60 years old (aprox) Em: She was Dorothy’s aunt and Henry´s wife. He had the tired face and always looked sad because they were poor and all her live was worked very hard to get ahead. Place of Birth: Kansas Place of Residence: The great Kansan prairie Job: Housewife Age:57 years old (aprox) Toto: It was Dorothy´s Pet Munchkins: They were three men of short stature and used to have beards, who were dressed in blue suits and wore a long hat on their heads. Age:70 years old (aprox) Good Witch: She was a woman that was dressed in white who walked to where Dorothy and bowed saying: thank you for ending the spell of the evil witch of the east. Age:60 years old (aprox)

2. What happened during each chapter? Write a brief summary of the main facts during chapters one and two. Use PAST TENSE to tell the facts of the story. Beginning In the chapter one, this story relates that a girl called dorothy who lived whit her family(aunt:em and uncle:Henry),in the state Kansas had a pet called toto with who played day to day.all they lived in a little Wooden house. In the chapter two,dorothy was surprise because she was in a place very different of the prairie dry and burnt for the sun of where she lived with henry and em,this place had beautiful flowers,bright fruits and living nature adorned by birds that sang happily.Other strange thing that dorothy looked was like people came to her without knowing her,and above all their physical appearances.

Middle: But a day,she and her uncle Henry were in the doorway of the little house and they looked the gray sky and they heard a sound very strong of a wind.This sound was the beginning of a cyclon,that changed her tranquility and that of their family.Only her aunt em get into to the cyclone cellar and henry went to looked to the animals.The wind strong closed the trap door and dorothy and her pet not get into to the cyclon cellar,then this natural phenomen began to move and it lifted the house like a ballon for many hours. These people were three men of the land of muchkins and a woman that sayed her that she was a good witch and she was grateful to dorothy for killing the evil witch of the east,but dorothy didn’t understand anything and she just wanted to returned to her house because her uncles were worried about her,wich the good witch told her was hard to come back,because there were a desert around the land of oz and no one can cross it and dorothy cried.

Ending: At last , when dorothy saw that she couldn’t get into to cellar lay down on the bed and close her eyes and she fell asleep quickly.Later she woke up when the bright susshine filled the room with light. The muchkins began to cry too ,because they felt sorry for her,but thought a moment the good witch told her to go to emerald city where the wizard of oz lived that he could help her.also she said her that it was a long way,but was her kiss was going to protect her and nobody was going to hurt her when they saw this mark on her forehead and dorothy with toto,went to where the wizard of oz to seek his help to return home.
